Since they're probably not going to start on it until Longhorn server is out, or they will start on it in a bit, once the whole Windows Team change is done. I say it's so early that they're still using the Vista UI. Any core changes would be done first, new features added, and then come the UI changes.

Windows Vienna may look like windows vista right now but with minor UI changes subtle little differences . i am thinking real world showing of it or leaked version of it may happen as early as November this year as well longhorn showed early shots on the web as of july of 2001 with minor differences from windows XP. so we will have to wait and see.

To be onist if Vienna (Windows Seven) comes out totally like vista but with a major overhaul on the UI by this i mean Give it a brighter look nice white theme or something but o well i still stand by my comment on Page 3 :)

If it was a Lab build you would just see MSDOS nothing else due to it's still in development they might have a test UI (Mostly Windows Classic) but nothing else it would be plan and basic :)

The dock is the worse UI disaster ever. Completely utterly useless, Ms would never crippple themselves that badly. As much as they have copied and crippled themselves in the past, they know the reason Mac stays at 1% and it's that shameful thing called the dock.

thats the most ridiculous statement ever...

keep spreading your wisdom :p

oh and the marketshare is "slightly" higher...

Glassed Silver:mac

Fake.

Simply because as we've seen with Vistas development, MS start with the same UI as the previous OS, and then change it later down the line (look at the first builds of Vista, they look identical to XP near enough).

i have to agree with that. microsoft would probably put in a couple minor changes (for one thing it wouldn't say vista at least as much) but the most work in the beginning is almost always on the more internal stuff, such as the kernel etc.

The Dock comes from NeXT/OpenStep, which Apple purchased and based Mac OS X on. I'm fairly certain I read that Apple patented both the Dock and it's Genie minimizing effect.

Apple's legal department did send a cease and disist order to the developer of Y'z Dock. Not sure why RocketDock is still around.

pretty much. when steve jobs left apple and formed next, they invented the dock and then patented it. when apple then acquired next (and thus took back steve jobs) they had the patent. the reason why objectdock is still around is because it's quite different from the osx dock. rocketdock, on the otherhand, isn't very easy to tell, because it is much closer to osx and in some ways is even closer than y'z.

AND I CAN ASSURE YOU ALL THAT I HAVE NO FREAKING CLUE WHY THIS EVEN MADE FRONT PAGE..

toly rediculous.

and toly untrue

mac fanboys rejoice. your time has come to participate in a thread that you might be RIGHT in for once.

Hypothetically, I bet it would look just like Vista :p

Remember Brandon is Physics cause he knows things a before we do as Microsoft locks him in to a Black coated Room and uses his abilities to tell the future. soon as Microsoft is done with you Brandon they will **** you to mexiaco to work for the mexian army and you will then be ask to live a new life and be called Ralf or Ralu or frank. so any thing brand can reveal to us he well soon forget and well be logging in to neowin as one of those 3 names. he he
