Microsoft may face more EU fines

Recommended Posts

So everyone choosing Windows is a bribed politician?

:p

No, any government that is trying to increase their countries economic status by sueing foriegn market leaders are likely being coerced by greed and jealousy. Theres an old saying "if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen". Now it is "if you cant stand the heat, sue the chef".

Nobody except politicians being bribed by competing companies wants Windows stripped down and crippled.
There seems to be a set of enthusiasts right here on Neowin that are interested in things like nlite and so forth to strip out stuff from Windows that they don't want.

I am pretty sure that you aren't trying to call them 'corrupt politicians'. :p

lol don't screw with the EU hell even us the mighty british empire can't touch them

Britain could bring down the European Union like a house of cards in a light breeze.

Our problem is we are lead by a Priminister that got 27% of the vote and does not have the balls to stand

upto the Union like the Great MT did.

She got a rebate, he gave ours away.

Now If Microsoft decided to stop selling their OPS in Europe, that will cost Europe lots of revenue and jobs.

European union should be giving Microsoft an insentive to sell their products not hinder.

90-92% all PC's use one form or another a Microsoft Operating system.

European union should be giving Microsoft an insentive to sell their products not hinder.

EU should, and I'm pretty sure they do, give MS incentives to open/keep local offices in Europe.

That said, allowing MS to play by different rules than any other company holding the same position should certainly not be one of those incentives.

If that is the case then fair enough.

I always see E.U. going to fine Microsoft this and that on a regular basis.

You know as well as I do, it won't be Microsoft directly paying the fines, it will be the consumer.

That bothers me.

No one is going to increase their economy with these fines, those would be pocket money even for a smallest country. Fines are there so that if you break local laws you have to pay for it. If MS would have done what is needed in the first place, they wouldn't have to pay anything.

If you want stripped down windows, use NT 4.0 or 2000 Pro. The people who use nlite usually end up on the support forum whining about all the things that don't work and error messages.

Good one

Could someone please explain Mr. ?ber-n00b wyatt the differences between NT4 and XP?:pinch::

He thinks that it's all the same and that the only difference in XP is that it has more apps coming with it than NT4.

    • Mac does nothing of the sort. You can change the default browser very easily it does not nag you and when you do this, it does not open something still in Safari....like Windows does with Edge.
    • I do not remember anything happening to Apple and Google for bribing people not to make Apps for Windows Phone. Edge barley has a foot print to matter. If the other browser companies want more of the Pie, they need to do better. I use Brave on all my personal device. However in industry, Edge of default, as we can manage it easier with MS tools.
    • On the one hand, it shouldn't be difficult. You buy a computer, you decide what OS you want, which browser etc. Simple enough. But that's the techie side of things. My sister, my mother, wouldn't bother with such a thought. And I'm pretty sure that if you presented a window asking them what to pick they would say, "I don't care! I just want to access my Email!"
