Anyone receive their prizes?

Recommended Posts

Got my Iriver Clix and Windows Vista Ultimate. This is actually a nice surprise they sent the Iriver Clix Gen 2 which must have just come out, it looks pretty sharp and even Cnet gave it high praise. I was going to sell it, but now I think I'm going to keep it as it may rival my Ipod Nano.

Awesome! That's exactly what I had hoped was going to happen. I have a 4gb nano, and was going to sell the clix if it was gen 1, but the gen2 ones actually look pretty nice. Is it the 4gb or 8gb model?

I'm psyched, mine should be arriving any day now....

Vanishing Point Winners and Fans,

First, congratulations to the almost 500 people from 11 different countries who won a prize in Vanishing Point. In total over $500,000 in prizes was won, by you - the community. You drove this game forward and clearly deserve the fame and fortune you won!

I know there has been some talk about the prizes for Vanishing Point. Some people have expressed elation at receiving their prizes, while other members of the community are wondering why some prizes haven?t been fulfilled. We hear you. The total number of prizes, people and countries adds complexity, and I share your frustration on how long it is taking to complete fulfillment. Let me tell you where we are and what to expect.

To date 97% of winners have been contacted and cleared. Some potential winners did not respond, and we?ve had to select alternates. For these alternates we are working with them to clear them as winners. This is why you may hear of someone who is just now receiving their affidavit.

96% of the winners have received at least some or all of their prize. Some parts of the prizes for our grand prize and first place winners have been delayed due to supply chain issues which we expect to be resolved very soon. In total, we expect all prizes to all cleared winners to be fulfilled in the next three weeks.

Finally, I?ve heard that some of you have had difficulty contacting MardenKane with questions at the MSInfo alias. I?ve talked with them, and they share this concern. They have agreed to respond to emails within 48 hours.

Again, congratulations to all the winners!

The contest was well worth it!!!

Thank you for the information! :D I am one of the alternate first prize winners. I love my laptop, and I was really wondering about the other prizes. The contest was tons of fun! Thanks for the opportunity!

Sure it's nice to get the info...

but am I the only one who has noticed the parallels between fulfillment phase of this contest and the way a product release unfolds from Redmond?

I feel like I'm being "patched" here.

Oh, and MK hasn't responded to an email (or phone call) in 48 hours ever...

I love my Alienware prize, but... anyone care to guess what OS is running on the machine I am typing this on?

How's that 48 hours thing working for anyone else?

I got what I thought was going to be the rest of my prize (the Xbox 360 accessories) on Monday morning, and wouldn't you know it, it wasn't correct. The hard drive and headset were fine, but the controller was wired instead of wireless. I emailed MSInfo and Erica 48 hours ago and I haven't heard anything back yet.

All I want is the prize I was promised!

i got the same thing. i was supposed to get a wireless controller for the 360, but instead i got a wired controller for windows . i sent an e-mail as well. no response yet.

:woot:

I received all of the rest of my prizes yesterday via UPS (No signature required!): 30GB Microsoft Zune digital media player, a Microsoft Xbox 360 gaming console, 20GB HDD, headset and controller, Microsoft Flight Simulator X, Zoo Tycoon 2, Age of Empires 3, a Microsoft LifeCam VX-6000 web cam and Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007. I also received a wired microsoft controller instead of a wireless one. Although, I did recieve a wireless microphone for the computer that I wasn't expecting!

Well everyone. Just wanted to say that I have now received all of my prizes and I just have to say WOW to the monitor and the PC. The monitor is a 24" Dell Ultra Sharp widescreen monitor. Pretty sweet I have to say. The PC is a Dell Diminsion E521 with the AMD 64 X2 4400 processor, 2GB mem, 320 Gig HDD, ATI Radeon 1300 256MB video card with Vista Ultimate installed. All in all, not a bad system at all.

My alienware arrived just in time for the weekend :) Very impressed with it so far, the monitor is unbelievable :D I had some overheating issues with it but it turned out to be one of the fans being on the wrong way round lol. Thank you to MK. MS and AMD for ordering it via Alienware UK as well so didn't have any problems with cables and the like :D

Here's a piccy:

I received this email today from [email protected];

Dear Microsoft and AMD "Vanishing Point" Sweepstakes winner,

It has come to our attention that you have received an Xbox wired controller, instead of the Xbox wireless controller that was to be awarded to you as part of your Xbox prize. Please be advised that an order has been placed for an Xbox wireless controller, and shipment will take place within the next 1-3 weeks. We apologize again for any inconvenience. We'd be happy to forward tracking information to you upon request.

Sincerely,

Marden-Kane Inc.

You won and you're complaining?

yup. the prize list said i was going to get a 360 premium. i got a core. they said 8 weeks for the prize. it's been like 5 months and i still haven't received all of it. e-mailing them sucks because they take so long to respond. probably would get a faster response if you send them regular mail.

don't get me wrong, i'm happy that i won. it's just the way they handled the prize distribution that upset me.

  • 3 weeks later...

i got this e-mail today, which i think is a bunch of bs

    • The GEEKOM A8 mini PC is 20% off (lower than Prime Day pricing) plus Huge Storewide Sale by Steven Parker GEEKOM is back with a deal on a variant of its A8 Mini PC powered by AMD's Ryzen 7 8945HS, which came out in 2024 with a TDP of just 45W, with a base clock of 3.8 GHz and a Turbo Boost of 4.9 GHz; although we never reviewed this variant, we did check out the Ryzen 9 version. As a reminder of what you get, below are the specifications for this Mini PC. GEEKOM A8 Dimensions 112.4 mm x 112.4 mm x 37 mm Weight 450g CPU Ryzen 7 8745HS (8 cores, 16 threads, 16MB L3 cache, 3.8 - 4.9 GHz, TDP: 45 W) cTDP: 35-54W (Default 45W) Graphics AMD Radeon™ 780M Graphics 12 RDNA 3 Graphics Cores 2700MHz 768 shading units / stream processors (12 CUs), 48 texture mapping units, and 32 ROPs NPU XDNA architecture (Up to 16 NPU TOPS) Memory 16GB Dual-channel Crucial DDR5-5600MT/s SODIMM (up to 64GB) Storage 1TB NVMe M.2 (PCIe Gen 4.0 x4) Operating System Windows 11 Pro Bluetooth Bluetooth v5.2 Wireless LAN Wi-Fi 6E Kensington Lock No SD Card reader Yes (left side) Adapter 120W, 6.32A, 19V Power Adapter Front I/O Ports 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A 1 x 3.5mm front stereo headset jack Rear I/O Ports 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A 1 x USB 4 Gen 3 Type-C with Power delivery up to 15W (5V 3A) 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C 1 x USB 2.0 Type-A 2 x HDMI 2.0b 1 x 2.5G RJ45 LAN 1 x DC-in Deal Price $519 (buying links below) GEEKOM has two configurations of the A8, with the only difference being the slightly less-powerful Ryzen 7 CPU with half the storage (1TB) and DDR5 memory (16GB). This knocks $350 off the price compared to the $999 Ryzen 9 configuration. In both instances, a Windows 11 Pro license is also pre-loaded. As I said previously, this appears to be an update on the A7 with the only difference being the newer CPU. The packaging has changed quite a bit from the A7. Instead of dark colors, now the box is completely white, and the foam cushion has been replaced by a cardboard mould that the A8 sits in, above a small envelope that contains a thank you card and booklet that has guidance on all of the controls, how to access the A8 to swap out the SSD or memory, and safety information in several European languages. Upon removing the cardboard mould, you can find another cardboard compartment that contains the power lead, HDMI cable, VESA plate, and a bag of screws. What’s In The Box 1 x A8 Mini PC 1 x Power Adapter 1 x HDMI Cable 1 x VESA plate and bag of screws 1 x Envelope with booklet and Thank you card Unlike the A7, the VESA mount option is back with the A8. In short, you have everything you need to get started. All products sold by GEEKOM receive a 3-year free Warranty from the date you receive the product.
