Hmm I wanna try it, but seems like it's a first release, so I'd rather wait for the refresh - like 1.0.1 or 1.1.0.

whys that? ive been using it without a problem

Sometimes there are bugs in the final release that needs to be fixed, hence the refresh like 1.0.1 or something to that.

Maybe Zyphrax can find some ..... *shrugs*

lol, many users have downloaded this program (> 200000, and those are the downloads I can track). Now and then I google for VistaGlazz and read about our program on different forums. Almost all user feedback is positive. Some people try to use it on really old Vista builds or even XP, yeah that won't work :)

As for the version. The first version was a beta (that's why the topic is still called VistaGlazz 0.1). We've released about 3 different beta versions, fixing small bugs and fixing the 64bit version. The release version: VistaGlazz 1.0 seems to run pretty solid.

You can always create a System Restore Point if you like, the program itself creates backups of all files it patches.

Feel free to PM me, if you have more questions...

working great over here!

and actually this fixed another problem i was having too. i run dual monitors, and i am using the beta version of ultramon so i have the taskbar across the bottom of both monitors. well the issue i was having is sometimes after i would close all the programs, the right monitors taskbar would stay stuck on the solid black as if the program was still open. but now since the taskbars never go black at all, i don't have that issue anymore...

so this patch actually helped me out a lot...

thanks for all the hard work!

wow this is really nice, it worked like a charm for me, I love the glass on maximized windows!

I want to thank the creators of this, its a nice small application, I love how the program lets you easily undo any changes it has made too, very smart.

Thank you.

so im new to this, i downloaded a theme and put it in the resources(theme) folder. Now what? how do i install it? i tried messing around with the patch stuff...but for some reason it still didnt work. So if someone could give basic instructions on how to make the theme installed/patch work i would appreciate it.

can make it totally 90 transparent?hehe~~

Some things we have to leave to the style creators ;)

Check out the AeroXP forums, they are working on some custom styles.

Hi Tyler.

Patch your system

First step is to patch your system. Run VistaGlazz and patch your system. That way you can use custom styles in Vista. If you skip this step, you will end up with Windows Classic look.

Patch Aero or install a custom style

After that you can glassify your Windows Aero style (second patch option in VistaGlazz) or you can install a custom style:

Copy the content of the custom style to a new folder in C:\windows\Resources\Themes, preferably the styles' name. Most custom styles are based on the Windows Aero style by Microsoft. Therefor when you go to Window Color and Appearance in the Control Panel, and open up the Classic appearance window, you'll see a lot of Windows Aero style duplicates. Any one of them could be the style you just installed.

Selecting a custom style

As I mentioned in the Window Color and Appearance in the Control Panel you can select your styles. You can just try all the Windows Aero styles until you have selected the right one and presto your style is loaded.

Another option is to install DeskHack. DeskHack patches the Control Panel applet to show the real names of your styles instead of the duplicate Windows Aero entries. This is a safe and really nice patch when you have multiple custom styles.

Good luck, and let me know if you encounter any problems. And we are working on VistaGlazz 2.0, one of the goals is to make the deployment of custom styles a lot easier.

    • You are clueless. The updates are done in the background so the next time you open Edge the updates are applied automatically. There is no need to close all your tabs. Just keep browsing like you normally do. Clearly you don't use Edge and are just one of those haters that complain for the sake of complaining.
    • I don't get this David. Can you explain it please.
    • Microsoft is busy. Lots of changes to be released imminently for Windows server or soon. Also, lots happening for next version as well. Third party virus scanning software is being moved out of Kernel mode to avoid repeat of Crowdstrike incident. Windows Protected Mode and Windows Ready Print no longer require third party print drivers to be installed. New storage stack being developed. New NVME drivers now available for Windows Server 2025 to improve local NVME drive performance by 60+ percent. NVME-Of of fabric being worked on for next release to improve network access to NVME drives. ReFs (next file system) now has ability to boot and will become default file system in next release of Windows Server. ReFs improves on NTFS in several areas including resiliency and reliability and scalability. New update stack is being worked on to unify Windows updates, and updates for drivers and first party/3rd party application software. A stricter and more robust third-party driver certification program (ODI) is being worked on to improve performance, thermals, battery life, and reliability on modern Windows hardware by tightening how OEMs and IHVs (Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, NVIDIA, etc.) build and ship drivers. There is a tone more but too numerous to mention.
    • Now disable that stupid OneDrive backup request when Windows starts please. So unbelievably frustrating to only have “remind me later” instead of “no and never ask me again”
