The astronauts certainly know what they are doing is extremely dangerous so wh yshould the family member s get paid anything? as with any job especially those with high risks, there is compensation/insurance incase of death or injury etc.. etc... you'll learn it when you get a job. usually optional to the most of us, but i would assume high risk jobs have it as mandatory. all this is usually based off salary aswell. i wonder how much the astronauts were getting paid.
