Hey, at least it's faithful to the TV series. Not like those abominations on page 1.

too much detail.. i wish they would just do a 3D version of the exact same characters and shapes from the original cartoons

werd

By making them so alien, they lose much of the human capacity they originally had. Looks count. Now they have about as much character as a GoBot.

In my opinion, there's a lot more to being "faithful" to the material than just making the robots look like how you remember.

Guess what, every generation of kids remembers a different set of Transformers.

G1

G2

Armada

Beast Wars

Energon

Cybertron

Not to mention the myriad of Asian anime shows and comic books from any number of countries.

In all honesty, it's not the look of the transformer that makes him what he is. It's his personality. How he acts, how he talks, how he treats the other transformers and humans, etc etc. There are no fewer than a dozen different Primes, just take a look at this image:

Optimusprimes.jpg

But I guarantee the 'character' is what ties all these Primes together.

As Sideshow Mel would say, "TERRRRIBLE!!"

'Tis a sad day for Transformer fans.

Why couldn't they just leave **** alone? So what if Bubblebee is an old VW bug?!?!?

Megatron looks like ...hell I don't know.. You can't even tell what the **** he is supposed to be.

GAH!

If that's true, that it's a sad day for transformers fans, then it's been a "sad day" for the last 19 years. Optimus Prime hasn't looked like G1 Optimus since 1988. Hell, he hasn't even always been a truck. He's also been a firetruck, a gorilla, a bat, a lion, a wooly mammoth, and a car. he's even been a long-nose truck on more than one occasion. And yes, these are all 'canon' (except the car).

Is G1 Prime the "classic"? Of course. But to write off an entire film because he doesn't look like he did 23 years ago is a bit much, no?

Concerning Bumblebee, the official word is that the creators did not want comparisons to a certain other intelligent VW Bug, Herbie the Love Bug. Obviously fans won't make that mistake, but remember...this film isn't just for fans of Transformers, it's for everyone.

I'm as big a fan of Transformers as anyone. The first toy I have any memory of is an original '84 Optimus Prime, and I'm scouring eBay right now, ready to drop $100+ on another one (although probably a re-issue at this point). But I'm also a realist, and I think the Transformers look pretty good. Certainly a hell of a lot better than a lot of the toy lines and cartoons over the last decade or so (Beast Wars excluded, since I liked Beast Wars).

I will agree with you on one point, and that's Megatron. He's a good bit too 'abstract'. I fully understand why having him transform into a Walther P38 isn't a good fit for the film, but I don't get why they chose some futuristic looking stealth fighter. A bit of reading does seem to indicate however that he's been redesigned a bit to give him a helmet (like his G1 counterpart), and one of his arms does change into a scoped cannon (like his G1 counterpart).

would of been cool if they made Megatron at least transform into some type of gun but in proportion to the others.... like a huge CANON or something that can either move around on the ground or be carried by another decepticon.

I heard that VW would not license the VW Bug/Beetle to be a "machine of war".

I've been a fan since the originals but I have to say that I like majority of transformers in the upcoming movie and how they look. The main issue that I have are the hands on most of them. Some of the decepticons hands/fingers don't even resemble hands. If Optimus and Megatron were to go hand to hand, Optimus wouldn't break a sweet since Megs doesn't have any 'fingers'.

One a side note, has anyone checked out this site. Its pretty cool and the art that is drawn is awesome (in my opinion).

Check out this guy who made a video about how he hates the trailer. LMAO this guy needs to find a girl fast.

some other guy made one dressed as a Jedi lol these guys need to get out more...seriously I'm worried about them. :/

This was always my first suspicion, that the producers simply couldn't get permission from VW to use the Beetle in the movie. It had never been confirmed, so all I know is what the writers said in their Q&A sessions on the official website.

Ok. I made it 1:13 into that first video before shutting it off. The guy's just a whiny idiot. I think the whole asteroid thing is actually a pretty clever way of having the transformers land on earth without any major defensive reaction. If a huge spaceship landed on earth, the sh*t would hit the fan.

    • TeraCopy 4.0 Build 28 by Razvan Serea TeraCopy is a compact program designed to copy and move files at the maximum possible speed, also providing you with a lot of features. Copy files faster. TeraCopy uses dynamically adjusted buffers to reduce seek times. Asynchronous copy speeds up file transfer between two physical hard drives. Pause and resume transfers. Pause copy process at any time to free up system resources and continue with a single click. Error recovery. In case of copy error, TeraCopy will try several times and in the worse case just skips the file, not terminating the entire transfer. Interactive file list. TeraCopy shows failed file transfers and lets you fix the problem and recopy only problem files. Shell integration. TeraCopy can completely replace Explorer copy and move functions, allowing you work with files as usual. TeraCopy is free for non-commercial use only. For commercial use you need to buy a license. The paid version of the program includes the following features: Copy/move to your favorite folders. Save reports as HTML and CSV files. Select files with the same extension/folder. Remove the selected files from the copy queue. Features added since version 3.17: Enhanced speed graph. New multi-threaded copy engine. Support for copying to multiple targets. Queue system for managing multiple copy operations. Support for receiving files via the LocalSend protocol. TeraCopy entry in the modern Windows Explorer context menu. Integrated toolbar in the title bar. Why receive LocalSend transfers with TeraCopy? Handle file conflicts: Skip, overwrite, or rename files when a file with the same name already exists. LocalSend always creates another copy, which can waste time and disk space, especially when resuming an interrupted transfer. Filter unwanted files: Apply ignore lists or remove files manually before accepting a transfer, so unnecessary files are not downloaded. Better performance on fast networks: In tests over a 10 Gbps connection, TeraCopy received files several times faster than the standard LocalSend app on Windows. TeraCopy 4.0 Build 28 changelog: Fixed a bug where Overwrite behaved as Overwrite All during same-drive move operations. AdvancedInstaller fixed the installer’s security vulnerability: EXE Bootstrapper resolved the %appdata% location incorrectly for the System account.
