LMAO I wish I was there for that.

I was supposed to play last night but my girlfriend bought Guitar Hero 2 (finally had it in stock, at a grocery store of all places!) so she had to play it. I will definitely be playing tonight though! I'm getting Halo withdrawals.

Damn you!!!!

LMAO, I just saw your signature. It should read "I killed DirtyLarry numerous times in Halo 3"

No exaggaration, I truly was paranoid after that.

Especially since I had the surround sound bumping since my fiance was not home from work yet, if I heard the "whirl" sound of the Ghost approaching, I would get all nervous with anticipation and just freeze up for a second. LOL I really have to say like Chris said they did a hell of a job with the Audio, it was the sound that made me paranoid, so that says something for sure.

No kidding. I came whirring around and you freaked out and started shooting me before you realized that I was on your team. :p

Dude, you scared me and I was on your team! lol, I thought Larry was behind the wheel again

I'll be online tonight for quite a while seeing as it's the weekend. Definitely had a lot of fun playing with/against Neowinians instead of randoms.

Just a note to some of the people who sent messages to us last night, we didn't ignore your messages but for some reason you can only have 8 players (even though it said there was 16 max). We invited as many as we could

Haha, i love the proximity voice. Heard a fraction of that!

Buzzed along in my ghost when i saw a huge crowd of people "... UMP!! JUUMP! .... Awwww"

I wanted to just Bold out what you said, as it is super important. I would never just ignore anyone just to ignore them, it just meant there was to many of us and nothing else we could do.

LOL "thought I was behind the wheel again." ;) I can actually drive the Ghost no issues at all, it always reminded me a lot of of the vehicles in UT 2004 which I was a master at, so I am confident in saying the next time I play my driving in all of the vehicles will be perfectly fine, as the only one I still have a real issue with is the Warthog, all because of the camera. It is really just the whole right stick to move I just need to get used to the sensitivity of. Trust me, I may never be a true killing machine although I am sure I will get much better overtime, but I will get the driving down pat relatively quick.

My biggest thing is how Halo seems to go against some of the standards of the control scheme of every other First Person Shooter made for Consoles. People who play it often probably think the exact opposite, but I really, especially after yesterday, realized I never played much Halo 2 at all, I never even beat it. So for me, Reload is almost always X in other games... Picking things up and entering vehicles is usually Y or B. So it really is the control scheme and me getting used to it where I am no longer thinking about it and it is second nature. It also has a lot to do with me not playing games as much as I used to. I always need a few rounds to warm up, and a perfect example is I did not play Gears for about two months, fired it up, and was lost for about 10 minutes trying to remember the controls because i was laying GRAW 2 at the time. I would love if it there was just one standard for all shooters, but I do realize that is to hard to do.

But yeah, no excuses, I totally suck real bad right now.

Yeah dude, a lot of those controls were in Halo 1 and 2, just like you described. However they have remapped them for Halo 3. It took me ages just to work out how to reload! I have the same problem when I go back and play Battlefield 2. Having to bring the pop-up menu to switch weapons and the left bumper to jump etc.

You did well dude, I could see an improvement each match, and you definitely melee'd me to the back of the head a lot  That's the good thing playing with Neowin members as there is a lot more team work and strategy, plus you can learn from each other's tactics :)

The ironic part is that Halo is the game that standardized those controls. Ever since Halo 1 did X as reload, Y as change weapon, etc and the popularity of the game, other games started mapping similar controls. So now it has become the 'norm', but it seems Halo 3 needs the change because of two major factors:

1) It is sometimes necessary to be able to reload each weapon independent of the other.

2) There needs to be an easily accessible button for the Use Equipment function.

With that being said, however, I think the following:

1) I think it's a safe bet to say that 9 times out of 10 everyone reloads both weapons together anyway (so the X button would be fine as reloading both weapons)

2) Equipment isn't very easy to come by and doesn't get used as instinctively as reloading does.

But I think the controls will grow on us over time, however, I think they should provide a Classic control layout to mimic Halo 2 controls; ie:

LB - Switch Grenade

RB - Use Equipment

Y - Switch Weapon, Dual-Wield on Hold

X - Pickup Weapon, Enter Vehicles, Reload (maybe one tap for reload one weapon, double-tap for reload both; or maybe just regular reload)

Everything else the same

Now, I'm not sure if Bungie has that control scheme in there, as I know they have a couple alternatives, but I haven't checked. If they don't, I think I'll post this on the Bungie.net forums and see what people think.

What do you guys think?

    • ahh yes the good old your opinion differs from mine so you are therefore insane lol destiny 1 had no agenda pushing and was a massive success of a game, if you clearly look online the team for some reason thought they had too many men on the team and went on a woman and dei recruitment drive and we all know how destiny 2 performed from then on in
    • The limited imaginations and business acumen of non-dominant players is simply that: the abject lack of creative business acumen. Businesses often want to operate in a financially-rewarding marketplace (free market economics) and/or exit/cash-out at maximal financial recompense. Money is their incentive; regulations are both their obstacles and their tools; politics is their means of influencing the marketplace. Google, in this story's example, is crying that AWS and Azure are "too dominant" -- cuz Google Cloud is not printing as much money as Alphabet wants (although it is still dramatically more than they actually need). The EU DMA should truly follow-the-money and treat the EU as its own sovereign nation in order to protect European market players: Domestic entities are exempt from market-influence regulations until absolute monopoly is achieved; Foreign (non-EU/non-Euro) entities are all regulated via stricter DMA measures whereby regulated partnership with independent domestic entity becomes the only way for foreign entities to 'tip the scale' for favorable financial remunerations. Basically create a dual-track aligning with China's foreign investment models. In my eyes, this is the only way to properly protect the European marketplace beyond the current dot-com/ai-bubble/social-media crazes.
