Microsoft Starts Banning 360s on LIVE - MS Confirms

Recommended Posts

Stop being so anti-modding and being a goodie-2-shoes. I hate people who are so full of themselves. Its starting to get annoying.

"oh hehe, i hope you all get banned for life"

Why are you SO happy that people with modded boxes got banned? Do you work for MS, or are you just ignorant?

Thats like me saying "oh pixels, i hope you get testicular cancer and die". We're all already banned, by saying garbage like that your kicking us while we are down.

Oh, wanna know what I think?

Pirates > People who pay $69+tax for crappy games

^^ My 2 cents ^^

How about in that firmware update they turn on live back on for the banned people so that they can play online with legally bought games...

+1

EDIT: Actually, no never mind. I don't care anymore. I'm getting a brand new 360 tomorrow evening so what do I care about all these pirate kiddies.

Because we (people who pay for games) are financing all of the good games that you pirates just steal. That's why we're happy when you people get knocked down.

What good games?

I just see it as a waste of my money buying a $69 game to play it for 4 hours and get bored of it.

The only game I'd consider buying is... Gears of War, but not anymore since I beat it and online sucks.

Other than that, all the other games out for 360 bore me and are not worth my money. The next game I'd buy is most likely Halo 3.

I remember when I was younger and had a Xbox 1 (unmodded), it used to break my balls buying a game and then getting so sick of it. Shortly after, I modded my xbox 1, and saw the light.

Rent it. Or, just don't play it! Holy crap, what a concept!

I don't care if you play the game for four hours, four days, four months, or four years. If you don't pay for it, you don't have the right to play it for four seconds.

Rent it. Or, just don't play it! Holy crap, what a concept!

No, renting breaks my balls too..

I just don't like spending money on stuff I can get for free. Call me an evil person, thief, or whatever, I don't care.

I don't really find anything wrong with it, and you shouldn't care what I do, its not like I'm stealing money from your pocket.

When I walk by EB games in the mall, I laugh at all the people purchasing games... LOLL I'm so evill haha

If nobody bought games, there wouldn't be any games for you to steal. Do you understand that, or is that concept too much for you to handle?

Ehh... At the end of the day, its just FREAKING video games. I rather spend my money elsewhere... like go to dinner with my girlfriend.

So keep buying games, you are my hero! People like myself and laz will just keep ripping.

I really don't see the point you are trying to make with this.

My point seems very clear: I don't like paying for digital media that I can get for free.

Well, you spent $400 on your 360. It's just a FREAKING console.

My point is this: you are a selfish and despicable human being.

Ehh... At the end of the day, its just FREAKING video games.

Except that it's somebody's livelyhood and what they do to pay bills, eat, and go out with their gf's / wives.

Jeez, you need to grow up. Neowin doesn't need members like you

If you ever get caught (who knows, it's unlikely but might happen), make sure you don't forget to tell me your scheduled court date so I can laugh at you too

$400 was the investment I need to make for free games. :)

It seems that I'm a superiorly intelligent human being compared to you. Seeing as I didn't need to pay a penny for games for almost a full year. While you were one of those people in EB Games buying $70 games.

I don't want to grow up, I like being 17, having a good car, and having more money in the bank than you. So, why would I want to grow up?

Let the flamming being :)

Who cares? He gets his FREAKING video games for free! Yeah! Nobody else matters.

Yup :)

Gotta love the "ethics". Let them do whatever they want. And the pricing of the games has nothing to do with piracy, that's just another lame attempt to justify the prices like the RIAA/MPAA.

Anyway, they are banned and people will still pirate games around the world. I don't see any of you doing ANYTHING to change that only bashings and personal attacks at people.

I didn't have to pay for games either. I've been following the 360 modding scene since it was nothing but BS videos. I made a choice not to mod my 360, for lots of reasons. And now, I have a 360 that still works on Live, and you had to get a new one. Who exactly is smarter here?

I probably drive a nicer car than you do, and I almost CERTAINLY have more money in the bank than you do. And I've been paying for my games all along. Why am I not surprised by the fact that you're 17?

LOLL stop hating on me...

I just keep reversing your attacks on me. Anyways;

First off, I'll have a BRAND NEW working 360 tomorrow, I made $75 selling my modded xbox 360. Therefore, I still consider myself smarter.

Second, your comparing your car to a car of a 17-year-old? For all I know your a middle aged man. Therefore you had more time to accumulate money for a nicer car. So I'd expect you to have a nicer car. LOLL

For all I know, so are you.

Nah. Just read my posts... their too kiddish to be coming from an adult.

I just don't really feel the need buy video games. There are much better things for me to focus my attention, like school. Getting a good education and making more money than you. Ultimately driving a wayy better vehicle than you.

Honestly, what do you drive?

I drive a 2003 Cavalier, its my first car. At least I'm not driving around a beater from the 70's, like you most likely did when you were my age.

I could flame you forever, but I'll stop because I don't want to get a warning from a mod. :D

Honestly, what do you drive?

I drive a 2007 Explorer, fully loaded. Leather, nav, heated seats, satellite radio. If it's an option, I've got it.

At least I'm not driving around a beater from the 70's, like you most likely did when you were my age.

When I was your age, which was four years ago, I drove a 2002 Focus.

Online Firmware is in BETA Stages, Going to be released soon :pirate:

Yey, looks like I'll be modding my new 360 soon!

:| Only $75. Damn you really lowballed on that deal.

What are you talking about... 360's are hella cheap on eBay, its amazing I actually made money on it.

ohmuffin, stop doing that, i know you're cooler than this. stop messing with the guy. it's just games? heh, you're a gamer, true? that means you're JUST a gamer? no, it's who we are. why be ashamed of it.

yeah i used to pirate too...but that was on the Atari VCS and C64 back in the early 80's, for god's sake! yeah muffin, i'm twice your age! believe you me, you're gonna look back on this time and think "what hell was i talking about".

Well, he started attacking me.. so whatever I'm not just gonna sit back and take it. The things he said just set me up perfectly.

I'm not really a "true" gamer... I just play my 360 when I'm bored.

The only game I'd consider myself as a "true gamer" is in Halo, but that wont be till September.

    • Look up 'inflation' kid. Ask an AI for the numbers between both games.
    • Google reportedly set to lose two key Gemini and DeepMind researchers to Anthropic by Karthik Mudaliar Google is reportedly preparing to lose two more prominent artificial intelligence researchers, with Gemini contributors Jonas Adler and Alexander Pritzel planning to join rival AI developer Anthropic. According to a report from Bloomberg, both researchers are viewed internally as important contributors to Google’s flagship Gemini model family. Adler worked on Google’s AI coding efforts, while Pritzel was involved in the process used to train AI systems. Neither company has publicly confirmed the moves. The report also does not say when the researchers will formally leave Google or what positions they will hold at Anthropic. Training a large AI model requires decisions covering its architecture, data preparation, distributed computing infrastructure, and post-training methods that shape how the finished system behaves. Researchers with experience operating at the scale of Gemini are consequently difficult to replace quickly. Both Adler and Pritzel have previously contributed to Google DeepMind’s scientific research as well. They are listed among the authors of the company’s work on expanding AlphaFold protein-structure predictions across entire proteomes, alongside AlphaFold researchers including John Jumper. The reported departures arrive shortly after another important change within Google’s Gemini organization. Gemini co-lead Noam Shazeer is leaving Google for OpenAI, after returning to the search company in 2024 through its deal with Character.AI. Shazeer is particularly well known as one of the authors of the Transformer paper, whose architecture became the foundation for most modern large language models. Anthropic, meanwhile, has been recruiting recognizable figures from other leading laboratories. OpenAI co-founder and former Tesla AI director Andrej Karpathy joined Anthropic’s pre-training team in May. His move, followed by the reported recruitment of several Google researchers, suggests Anthropic is strengthening the research teams responsible for the core capabilities of future Claude models rather than concentrating solely on product and enterprise sales. The competition is complicated by the companies’ extensive commercial relationships. Anthropic competes directly with Google’s Gemini models, but it also relies on Google as an infrastructure partner. In April, Anthropic announced an expanded agreement with Google and Broadcom covering multiple gigawatts of next-generation Tensor Processing Unit capacity. • Google adds built-in computer control to Gemini 3.5 flash by Karthik Mudaliar Google has added Computer Use as a built-in tool in Gemini 3.5 Flash, giving developers a single model that can reason about a task and operate graphical interfaces across browsers, mobile devices, and desktop environments. The feature is available through the Gemini API and Google’s Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, although it remains a preview feature for now. Computer Use enables an AI agent to examine screenshots and return actions such as mouse clicks, scrolling, and keyboard input. A developer’s application must execute those actions, capture the resulting screen, and send it back to Gemini, creating a continuous loop until the task is completed. Google says the integration can be used for activities including repetitive form filling, application testing, research across multiple websites, and longer enterprise workflows. Gemini 3.5 Flash can work with browser, mobile, and desktop environments, whereas Google’s earlier standalone Computer Use model was primarily positioned around browser interaction. The main change is consolidation. Computer control was previously offered through the separate Gemini 2.5 Computer Use preview model. As Neowin reported when that model was introduced, it was designed to interpret a visual interface and generate actions without requiring a website-specific API. Google later brought Computer Use to preview versions of Gemini 3 Pro and Gemini 3 Flash in January 2026. The latest release now incorporates the tool into the stable Gemini 3.5 Flash model rather than requiring developers to select a specialized model solely for interface automation. Gemini 3.5 Flash itself was announced in May as Google’s latest fast model for coding and multi-step agent workflows. It supports a one-million-token input context window and up to 65,000 output tokens, along with adjustable thinking levels that let developers trade additional reasoning for lower latency and cost. Google also added that Gemini 3.5 Flash received targeted adversarial training for computer-use scenarios. The company is also offering safeguards that can require user confirmation before sensitive or irreversible actions and automatically stop a workflow when suspected prompt injection is detected. Its developer documentation describes configurable protections for areas such as financial transactions and changes to sensitive records. Google isn't the first to bring Computer Use to its platform. Anthropic has made computer control available through Claude, while OpenAI has continued improving computer-use performance in its recent models. Microsoft has also applied the concept to business workflows, including a Computer Use capability for the Researcher agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot.
    • After I installed KB5095093, the volume on my ARM laptop won't go above 20%. It's stuck on the hearing protection level, which is pretty much useless if you want to listen to anything. I rolled back.
