Starcraft 2 - Official!

Recommended Posts

I doubt that the SC servers will be shutdown anytime soon, seeing as how they just did a patch that added alot of multiplayer clan functionality.

No. They won't. They couldn't. There's nooooo way they could do that. There would be an uproar. There are still a lot of people that play that (although it's no longer in the millions.)

That entire article surfaced ages ago, and I said then that the claim about Blizz dropping legacy SC servers was B.S.

Also, I don't know if I trust the line about the Kerrigan race too much. I would also expect the hybrid race before that. I doubt the Xel'naga will make an appearance either, but hey, surprises do happen. I mean, hell! They actually announced Starcraft II! So we'll have to see.

3:50 - Blizzard has not yet announced a release date for StarCraft 2.

3:44 - Had to run out of conference room to plug in laptop - there's an hour long information session starting in about 30 minutes - don't know if there's an internet connection there so I might not be able to update until i get back. As for initial StarCraft 2 impressions - the game looked very similar to SC1 - nearly identical user interface - graphic styles and unit proportions nearly the same - more flashy lighting effects but it seems like Blizzard didn't want to mess with SC's underlying formula very much. The screens they showed the video on didn't display the video very clearly, unfortunately, but the game still looked pretty with some nice animations. We'll have to wait to bring you any updates on what kind of story elements are in SC2 - hopefully they're in the panel discussion. Anyway, gotta run - thanks for reading and we'll update as soon as possible.

It's Not Over Yet

I think it looks absolutely beautiful

Huh uh, if you had not noticed yet, they have done it in the exact style of WoW and WC3, blocky, chunky, and cartoonish. Hell, the 2D sprites in SC have a more gritty and realistic feel to them then WC3'. I don't think this will blow over well, SC has always been more grittier then WC. At least, until WC3 came out.

I love it though, I just can't believe they did a WC3 on it. :(

Those shots look GREAT.

I'm sort of downed (and just a bit) by the scaling of the Battle Cruisers, and the fact that this big ol' 'Mother Ship' that the Toss have is the biggest damn thing ever.

I REALLY like the idea of any physics at all being applied. Mostly for exploding stuff. But it's cool.

The reporters were saying that it looked a whole lot like the original Starcraft. They on crack? This looks a hell of a lot more advanced than that. It's a similar arrangement, sure. It's pretty Warcraft III-ish. But it looks way better than that. No shappy, blocky, depressing 3D character models. This stuff looks good.

The UI looks a bit cheesy at times. And I don't know about these Protoss names... I mean, 'Immortal?' Wtf? Also, it's supposed to say 'Protoss Immortal,' if they're staying true to the naming system from the first game. But it's their game, I guess. Screw consistency (as evidenced in TBC. Lol.)

I think it looks really good!

Everythings been great so far, but oh my god.

They did it inb the god damn cartoon style.

WTF.

I'm a little dissapointed with the existing gameplay screenshots. But I'm going to reserve judgement until I have a copy in my hands. I think it'd only take a bit of upscaling to something a lil closer to the cgi quality textures. It's almost as if the CGI video and the gameplay artists have 2 completely different styles.

I was also super excited until i saw the damn Cartoon Graphics! Why must every damn game go this way these days?

They should've stuck with the old Starcraft Style.

Oh and by the way, i really hope the "oh no not another starcraft game . Give us diablo 3 now" comment was sarcasm, 'else you need to be slapped for stupidity.

That's a very common issue, of course.

I mean... Look at the first Starcraft. Hehehe.

So we'll end up with something like WoW: really, REALLY good looking CGI sequences and then just-ok game graphics. Or something like that. Except the game graphics here are a lot cooler than in WoW, I think.

    • Any decent ITSM will A) have a web form that allows a user to raise a ticket, if you're writing an email you can write a ticket. B) Monitor a mailbox and auto-generate tickets based on inbound mails for those users that really can't get their heads around the concept that if you have an issue you go to support.mycompany.com and fill in the box. From your description you're having users email the desk, and then having a human read each one and manually raise a ticket on behalf of the user.

    • I've never even heard of this browser before seeing this article. How does it differ from other browsers?
    • Fixing things? Have you ever tried linux? Everything works out of the box nowadays in most common hardware. This includes Wifi and Bluetooth. If anything, if they return back to windows is because they haven't found an equivalent program which often used on windows.
