[Cancelled] Sarah Connor Chronicles (Terminator Series)

Recommended Posts

Like the embattled resistance against Skynet, fans of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles have refused to surrender. They've rented a mobile billboard for the canceled Fox show this week. And now producer James Middleton tells io9 there's reason for hope.

The Sarah Connor Chronicles went off the air last May, and seems unlikely to come back to television. But fans have become increasingly focused on the idea that the show could have a direct-to-DVD movie sequel. The show's creator and showrunner, Josh Friedman, told us back in May that the show was over, and unlikely to be revived.

But fans have kept clamoring for a direct-to-DVD continuation. So we decided to ask producer James Middleton (who also produced Terminator Salvation) if there was any hope whatsoever that fans might get their wish. Have there been any meetings about a direct-to-DVD sequel, or other continuation? Middleton responded via email:

The quick answer is, yes, there have been many discussions. I can't go into more detail about the subject until I have something truly substantial to report. What the fans should know is that I hear them and I too would love to see T:SCC come back in some form.

So it sounds like there's reason to hope after all. At least, the reference to "many discussions" sounds encouraging, as does the notion that Middleton may actually have something "substantial" to report at some point. So fingers crossed!

And here's a better look at that mobile billboard, which drove around near the Warner Bros. studio offices for three days this past week:

It's a good day for TSCC; Jame Middleton is still fighting, and so are the fan.

"Sarah Connor Chronicles fans: Warner Bros. showed up in court today to defend its interest in the series. So it still cares, at least"

Ben Fritz from Latimes.com

It's not much, but at least it's something. The WB hasn't done or said anything about the show since it's cancellation. However, we know that from James Middleton that they were in talks about a DVD movie before the Terminator rights were went all to ****. I think this is a kind of a good sign that the WB might still be interested in TSCC otherwise I don't think they would've tried to defended the rights they have.

I don't think it's been to long at all; It's not even been a year since the last episode. I do however think that if a movie isn't made in 2010 or 2011 I would say we're not getting one.

ETA: The likely hood of it ever returning to TV is very, very slim, I will admit that.

if it was to return to tv the ratings it would get would be the true fans tuning in and granted there are a fair few I don't think it will do much better then what Dollhouse did in the ratings this is why TV movie on DVD/Blu-ray would be much better

Nothing more than a legal obligation to protect IP.

Yeah, I agree with njlouch. They would have to be a pretty poorly run business that didn't try to protect its intellectual property. Just because they have no plans to use the IP doesn't mean they wouldn't protect it.

Ok, so I just began to watch this show laugh.gif and I must say its a really awesome show. I never got the chance to see it back when it was originally showing sad.gif Now I've just started season 2 and I know that it ends with the cliffhanger and all. What I also remember is that DUMBEST NETWORK EVER CANCELLED THIS AWESOME SHOW realmad.gifrealmad.gifrealmad.gif after season 2. Now I have done some research online and there are various speculations as to what would happen in season 3. Do you guys think that someday this show might make a comeback and finish up the story ?

Also while we are still on the topic of Terminator, any word on T5 and T6. I mean can't we get some of the goodness that was in T1 and T2. I for one would love to see a whole movie based on the war. Like follow the Star Wars Example and make T6 the final movie and the final battle, where John Connor and the Resistance once and in for all KILL Skynet. Because I mean the going back in time thing again could become mehh in T5 as is currently planned.

AND FOR CHRIST'S SAKE DO NOT LET TERMINATOR BECOME AN ANIMATED SERIES, or else Skynet will activate then tongue.gif lmao jk rofl.gif

Rant over, it just ****es me off that greedy ass ******** like FOX always go after the money and end up cancelling the good stuff or studios do what they did with T3 and T4. Can't for once and in for all, we get the conclusion to the Terminator saga.

Hey say what you will about T3, at least it had Arnie in it, and while it did change the storyline a bit from the originals, was still a Terminator movie. I totally didn't get that vibe from the 4th one at all.

Damit, I thought there was new news on T:SCC when I saw this thread. :(

@Loc, it's because that douche Christian Bale ****ed with the script and changed the whole thing to make it revolve more around him. Hopefully the new owners of Terminator do the series right and get a good script through and not let this guy touch it again.

@Master1: Doubt it. He's out of shape. Unless he can get into shape by the next movie, we won't see him.

I met Summer Glau last August at Fan Expo in Toronto........ Me and my two buddies waited in line for FOUR hours to talk to her for 2minute-ish each. Her line up, was the longest out of any celebrity there. She was sooo awesome, very nice, more beautiful in person. I got her to sign my Firefly DVD Case. It was awesome.

    • Exactly. They won't go 100 because current gen consoles are simply too old for any groundbreaking graphics or gaming experience otherwise. They will go with standard (console) price 70 or go with 80 if they really want to go premium. Of course they will have more expensive options too with some useless cosmetics as always.
    • Doesn’t surprise me at all. God is light & He gave us life so it sounds almost logical that we would therefore emit a certain amount of light.
