[Cancelled] Sarah Connor Chronicles (Terminator Series)

I met Summer Glau last August at Fan Expo in Toronto........ Me and my two buddies waited in line for FOUR hours to talk to her for 2minute-ish each. Her line up, was the longest out of any celebrity there. She was sooo awesome, very nice, more beautiful in person. I got her to sign my Firefly DVD Case. It was awesome.

oh wow thats pretty awesome

We still dream about it to this day hahaha. It was pretty cool.We had Deluxe passes which got us into her Panel event which was cool too. On a side note, the supernatural Impala Car was there too!! Oh man that was a surprise treat. My buddy crawled under the car by the wheel and we got a picture of him looking like he got run over, haha so good.

Ok not to be rehashing old stuff, but I am a little bit confused here. I just watched Episode 9 from Season 2 "Complications," and I have a question about the guy whom the episode was based upon - Charles Fischer. After they killed the older Fischer, weren't Derek and Reese saying that hopefully the younger one would be different. Yet it shows the younger Fischer being put in prison. Now does this not create a paradox ??? I personally think this episode violates a lot. I mean if Fischer's destiny was to work for SkyNet, then why did they ever kill the older one. I mean if no matter what, the older Fischer is to go back and guarantee that he will go to jail and work for SkyNet, why even bother then ?? I am pretty confused about this and if someone wants to shed some light on it, it would be good, cause I can not seem to comprehend this paradox of his fate was sealed or what ?

Yes, there's a good change it creates a paradox and he would probably end up working for Skynet. Unless, he would've been involved in a s3 somehow and maybe died...

Well you have to remember Derek and Jesse thought that maybe young Fischer wouldn't follow into his future self's footsteps after hearing what he did. But they didn't know that he would end up being picked up by Feds and locked up... Older Fischer basically setup his younger self.

So does that mean the older Charles Fischer got set up by his older self when he was also younger ?

See this is what exactly confuses me about this time paradoxes. Like for example in the very first Terminator - Kyle Reese. He gets sent back from the future to father John Connor but he dies in the past. Does this create an alternate timeline or what since obviously he fights in the war with Connor. I mean also John Connor. Does he become John Connor because it his destiny to become John Connor, or does he become John Connor by all the "training" he receives starting when he's young. It would be really helpful if IF they were to make a Season 3 or whatnot or in T5 or whatever if they were able to explain all these time paradoxes, because they're really confusing & mind boggling

No, not necessarily. TSCC doesn't exactly follow a time loop theory -- it's more like multiple time lines rather than a single time line repeating. We don't know how Old Fischer was put into jail, all we know is he was there and survived J-day. But he did set into motion the events that led to young Fischer being placed in jail. Whether or not this was on purpose, we'll probably never know.

Well I don't think the time paradoxes or much (or any) of the time travel theory TSCC uses would've been explained. In both s1 and s1 the only info about this kind of stuff was that Derek was from one time line and Jesse, Riley, and possibly Cameron are from a different one, and we didn't get any details explaining any of it. Josh Friedman has a theme about keeping things such as time travel, Cameron, and future John as vague as possible so anyone can interpret them however they want.

But by a different timeline, it would mean different future events, yet they all survived Judgement Day and are all engaged in the Resistance fighting against Skynet, or does it mean different timeline, but only different in one aspect of time i.e. a certain event like for example when Derek shows John, Kyle when he was a little boy, Kyle should not have existed then due to him dying in T1, yet how was he there ?

Due to the fact that Kyle had to be born sometime and he was born back then. It's not like if you die in the future or your future self comes back to the past and dies his present self will have an effect. The present Kyle will go on his normal life until jd and the future.

But wouldn't it ? That is exactly where I get confused. When Kyle went back in time in T1 and died protecting Sarah Connor, wouldn't that death technically wipe away all his existence ?

No, why would it? His present self is still alive. His future self just died.

Well here is the way I see it. Kyle Reese goes back in time to 1984 to save Sarah Connor. Kyle Reese dies in 1984. If Kyle Reese died in 1984 protecting Sarah Connor, I don't get how he is able to be a part of the Resistance after Judgement Day happened which was after 1984

Simple, when he went back to 1984, there were two Kyle Reese, not one. One was the old Kyle Reese who fought alongside JC and went in the past, the other is baby Kyle Reese, still in diapers. Old Kyle Reese never met any of his relatives (I am speaking of T1 here) so he could never affect the younger Kyle Reese timeline.

Well, how can we assume that there were two Kyle Reese's in the T1 storyline ?

In my observation and if we are going by the multiple timeline then there's no need to assume that there are two Kyle Reeses. In fact, it shouldn't be assumed at all. It's possible that Kyle Reese will be born later or there is no Kyle Reese at all, but that has zero factor in the continuing Terminator storyline as seen from T1. A lot of people want there to be another Kyle Reese due to the sentimentality of John Connor getting to meet his "father" who is actually younger than him. However, it's unnecessary, just as it is unnecessary to explore the original timeline where Kyle Reese is not John Connor's father.

In TSCC, they chose to establish that Kyle Reese does exist in the timeline that John Connor sees. Once that's established then any changes to the timeline from that point on has no bearing on whether Kyle Reese exists, he simply does. However, he does not have to time travel back in time to start the chain of events. The chain of events have already been established.

Well, how can we assume that there were two Kyle Reese's in the T1 storyline ?

Because there had to be one for future Kyle Reese to come back from the future. Without the present Kyle Reese there would have been no future Kyle Reese.

Well I guess it would make sense like that, but if we are to think of time as a linear function, then maybe not

Before we get into talking about tonight?s return of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, we have to start by asking you about your time on BEVERLY HILLS 90210 TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES. Since we?re the type of TV viewer who has issues when it comes to getting over the cancelation of our favorites [interjects Brian austin Green, "I get it, I'm the same way!"] we?d love to know if you ever had any conversations with [Executive Producer] Josh Friedman as to what would have happened had the show lived to tell the tale?

Brian Austin Green: Yeah, a lot of the next season was going to take place in the future, it was going to be in the desert and the tunnels in a manner similar to what the latest film was. And since it?s a future where John Connor doesn?t exist, the main thrust of the story would have seen him starting at the bottom and becoming the iconic John Connor that everybody knows. It would have been great, but you know what though, I feel that at least we went out on top and we have two really good seasons on Blu-ray and DVD? and it is the holidays? and people can purchase those now!

I always get a bit excited every time I see this topic bouncing back. Unfortunately it's always followed by disappointment that they haven't had a change of heart and renewed it :p

It's nice to know how the story arc would have continued though. I wonder how they'd have got Sarah Connor back into it or indeed if she'd have had her own story ark.

I'd imagine they'd follow her exploits to set things up for John when he arrives in the future by doing parallel stories.

Syfy announced on Tuesday (February 22) that the network has acquired broadcast rights to "Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles."

The two-season, 31-episode run of "T:TSSC" will air on Syfy starting on Thursday, April 7. The first two episodes will air from 9 to 11 p.m. following an airing of the out-of-continuity "Terminator 3." Subsequent episodes will air on Thursday nights at 7 p.m.

It's here that we need to make it clear: Syfy has acquired the rights to air old episodes of a completed series. "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" isn't going to be revived by this move any more than "Firefly" is going to get new life from its upcoming rebroadcast on Science Channel.

"Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" premiered on FOX in January of 2008 to big numbers, ratings that fell off significantly in subsequent airings. FOX lifted the series from the bubble and ordered a second season, which suffered additional ratings attrition before moving to Friday night and passing away.

The show's demise saddened fans who -- not to speak for an entire fanbase -- largely felt that the show was heading in an interesting direction by the end, particularly with the well-regarded finale.

Developed for the small screen by Josh Friedman, "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" starred Lena Headey, Thomas Dekker, Brian Austin Green, Richard T. Jones and Garret Dillahunt.
