I learned how to get my way around Foobar by searching around the wiki. (Use the search function on the left side)

http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Foobar2000

Try to understand how each code works.. like Titleformatting.

Hi, meanwhile I could figure out some things by trial and error, but there are three questions left (propably ridiculous):

1. how can I sort the albums in album list by artist and not by albumname? I tried changing the order in preferences-->media library-->album list, but it had no effect!?

2. I want albums and tracks to be enqueued by double-clicking them in album list. How can this be achieved?

3. Clicking on the player in the taskbar does not minimize it.... any suggestions?

thanks a lot for your help and keep up the good work! :)

Trial and Error!! That's the best way to learn how to use Foobar!

1. Right-click somewhere in the "Album List" panel. Choose View -> by Artist

2. Right-click somewhere in the "Album List" panel. Choose Settings, where you'll see an option to change the double-click and middle-click action.

3. Clicking on taskbar doesn't minimize for me either and I don't think it can be changed for now. Instead, I use the "tray icon" which does min/max on click. The option can be found in the Panels UI main settings.

Ok, I'm fairly new to Foobar, so sorry if this question is asked frequently or something.

Foo AvA_DX6 seemed to install fine, I didn't have any trouble setting up, except for one thing:

It displays "UNKNOWN FUNCTION" repeatedly in some areas on the UI (circled in the attached picture).

Anyone know why it's doing this, and how I can fix it?

Yeah, download the latest PanelsUI here

http://panels.fooblog2000.com/

I have been trying to download "lyric show modded" but no joy. Some of the links dont work and the ones which download something when I try and open it it says its corrupt....I am using WinRar to open the file - it recognises the .7z file extensionDoes anyone have it? Will is it not zipped or rarred !!

UPDATE

Its OK, found ithttp://gro.clinux.org/frs/?group_id=737&release_id=1383

Although they still dont open in WinRar but seem a lot bigger than the other files??

It opens up fine for me with both WinRAR and 7zip.

There are more updated versions found here.

I updated PanelsUI to the lastest versioin "0.14.9 beta" and I'm getting the "UNKNOWN FUNCTION" error in some places! I was working fine with "0.14.6 beta".

I tried it out just now. I get the same thing, so you're not the only one. Just stick with an older version.

additional post:

Holy Crap! After trying 0.14.6 beta and switching back to my old 0.13.8.. I couldn't load FooAVA UI anymore.

Good thing I had my Foobar folder backed up. Always back up your config before making changes! :D

@ g2theangsta

Just turn on 'library filter' in settings

God damn it! I lost all my changes for 1.04ver (I don't have any new copy so I have to start from the almost clear 1.03 version).

@dawxxx666

Ooops about the lost of your new settings.

I really love your design. Thanks for making it available for us :)

I would like to ask if its is possible to have a 'play random track' button beside the other already existing ones.

Plus have u noticed that once u have started the vis panel, it still uses up your cpu even if u switch back to a cover picture.

In the future realised vould put in a option that allows u to choose the colour from a palette rather than just blue or red. I dont know if thats possible, just asking.

Another thing i have noticed, if your playlist is less than a page long and u hide the scrollbar, the time lenght of the songs are not entirely displayed

thank you, stripedphantom. The "tray icon"- function ist great, I use it now. Concerning 1.+2. my main problem is to even find the right menus. Right clicking doesn't offer me "view", and the settings menu doesn't fit the expectations either. Maybe these screenshots will explain my problem:

Woops, you're using Library Filter not Album List. I don't know how to use Library filter. There are some options in the preferences though (Ctrl+P.

and dawxxx666:

That's sucks.. I wish I warned ya sooner about that problem with the new beta. :p

You'll probably be backing up your config more often now huh? hehe

It's possible, I can add something like this:

Red -0+

Green -200+

Blue -255+

so you can set your own color, but it doesn't have effect on visualisations, wsh panel and buttons.

Yes, I know that problem - it's fixed.

Hehe, I'm going to be smarter next time :D

Pfff i must definitely read before posting  !! that should have said 'In the future releases could u put in an option...'

Thats a great idea, thanks, the visualisation colour can be changed easily enough. :)

For the buttons u may add a third colour option that is rather neutral n would not clash with what ever colour is chosen from the palette.

The screenshot is looking very nice. :)

I kind of liked your original play/pause etc buttons. It kept the look simplistic without borders around each button (too much contrast in each buttons in the new version.)

Maybe have an option to choose between the 2? (or I could just change it myself ;_; )

just for the record, the latest PanelsUI test-version 0.14.11 is working fine again with the skin. there was a bug with version 0.14.9.

edit: I take back what I said, there are serious "UNKNOWN FUNCTION" errors in the playlist if transparency is used. :(

now i like that

quick question how come when i load foobar it resizes itself ?

Sorry, I don't know that problem so I can't tell you what's wrong.

I kind of liked your original play/pause etc buttons(...) Maybe have an option to choose between the 2?

As you wish :)

Great work!

Got a question, how can i sort a album after the track numbers? some of my albums are sorted like

10.

2.

9.

5.

But i want them to sort like:

1.

2.

3.

4. and so on.

And yes i've given the album track numbers in properties.

Are you using default Artist / Date / Album sorting in Sort/Group by?

Maybe try

%_itemindex%

instead of

%tracknumber%

in 'item display'.

Btw i love this config, and to my above post, may it have something to do with that the actual filenames dose not contain numbers but only the title of the song?

%_itemindex% works even without song numbers :D

When you say in "item display" do you mean when i right click on the playlist and choose settings, a box opens and there i can switch between group and item display?

Then i find all the %tracknumbers% and put in %_itemindex% instead on all?

Also another thing i've noticed, may be something wrong here but anyway, when i use the hide scrollbar future alot of the songs gets pushed outside the box so i cannot see the whole name.

Edit: Screenshot uploaded.

It's my 4th answer to this problem in this forum  , but I tell ya one more time - it's fixed in 1.04

Thanks for the answers.

And sorry for brining up the question about the scrollbar bug, didn't know it was answered before.

Anyway, looking forward to next version =)

Edit: What do i do with the font pack .exe? shall i just extract it and put it in my windows font directory or?

    • Poll: Grand Theft Auto VI price predictions, cast your vote by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe After years of waiting, Rockstar will be solidifying the launch date of Grand Theft Auto VI with the launch of pre-orders next week. While the studio has confirmed a date for this occasion, it is yet to attach a price to the highly anticipated game. So let's see what our readers think it will cost at launch. The Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders will kick off on June 25 for digital and physical editions. Unless some last-minute changes happen, the release date will be November 19, 2026, across Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, there's still no information about a PC version from the developer or the publisher Take-Two. Now the question becomes, how much will Grand Theft Auto VI cost at launch? The game is predicted by some analysts to be the biggest launch of an entertainment product ever. With the amount of hype that has been built behind it and with ballooning development costs, Take-Two may price this Grand Theft Auto entry differently from other AAA titles. The current price of a AAA game is $69.99. That norm almost rose to $79.99 before calming down. But with such a massive release, Grand Theft Auto VI may be the game that pushes the boundary again. It's also possible that Take-Two keeps the price relatively low to increase the number of players that jump in early and keep them hooked on Grand Theft Auto Online to spend on microtransactions for years to come. Keep in mind that the below poll is asking for a prediction of the standard edition price, not a deluxe or any other special edition that Take-Two will introduce for additional benefits. Also, there is also the chance of the company splitting up the campaign and online portions. If you think that will happen, put your vote on what you think will be the total cost of the two. Poll Poll: How much will Grand Theft Auto VI cost? $59.99 $69.99 $79.99 $89.99 $100 or more Submit Vote If you have a very specific prediction in mind, sound off in the comments below.

    • The Light of Life? We actually do glow till our Death, study finds by Sayan Sen Image by Rafael Rendon via Pexels A study by researchers at the University of Calgary has found that living organisms produce an extremely faint light known as ultraweak photon emission, and that this glow appears to drop significantly after death. The research was published in the Journal of Physical Chemistry in April 2025 and quickly drew widespread attention, leading to more than 200 news stories about the findings. Ultraweak photon emission (or UPE), sometimes called biophoton emission, refers to tiny amounts of light released by living cells as a result of normal biological activity. A photon is the basic particle of light, and researchers say every living system examined so far, including plants and animals, has been found to emit these photons. The glow is far too faint to be seen by the human eye. “I suppose it has a little to do with people being reminded of auras,” says Dr. Christoph Simon, PhD, one of the authors of the study and a professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy in the Faculty of Science. “It is a fact that living beings glow. It’s a very weak glow, but it’s there and visible with very sensitive cameras.” According to the study, the light involved is extremely weak, ranging from 10 to 1,000 photons per square centimetre per second across a spectral range of 200 to 1,000 nanometres. For comparison, a nanometre is one-billionth of a metre and is commonly used to measure wavelengths of light. Detecting emissions at such low levels requires highly specialized equipment. To study the phenomenon, researchers used electron-multiplying charge-coupled device (EMCCD) and charge-coupled device (CCD) cameras. These imaging systems are designed to detect extremely small amounts of light, including individual photons, while minimizing background noise. The technology allowed researchers to capture signals that would otherwise be impossible to observe. The team worked with the Human Health Therapeutics Research Centre at the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) in Ottawa to examine photon emissions in mice. Researchers took two-hour exposure images of the animals before and after death and compared the results. “We saw that the level of light that they emit – this biophoton glow – is distinctly different between living and dead animals,” says Dr. Daniel Oblak, PhD, an associate professor in Physics and Astronomy and the corresponding author of the study. The images showed a clear decrease in photon emissions after death across the entire body of each mouse. According to the researchers, this provided direct evidence that living and dead tissue produce different levels of ultraweak photon emission. “It’s a very small amount and it’s, of course, very tricky to detect,” Oblak says. The study grew out of discussions between Simon, whose research interests include quantum biology, and Oblak, whose work focuses on detecting light for quantum communication experiments. Quantum biology is a field that explores whether processes described by quantum physics, which studies matter and energy at very small scales, may also play a role in living systems. “Since I work as a quantum physicist on light detection for quantum communication, I thought that experimentally we have a lot of the tools to be able to detect the light,” Oblak explains. The researchers also investigated UPE in plants and found that the light changed in response to stress. When plants were exposed to higher temperatures or physically injured, their photon emissions increased. Chemical treatments also affected the glow. Among the substances tested, the local anesthetic benzocaine produced the strongest emission response when applied to injured plant tissue. These findings suggest that ultraweak photon emission is closely linked to biochemical and metabolic activity inside living organisms. Metabolism refers to the chemical reactions that allow cells and organisms to stay alive and function. Because these reactions change when an organism experiences stress, injury or disease, researchers believe UPE may provide a way to monitor those changes. The researchers stress that the glow is a physical and biological phenomenon, not a metaphysical one. Oblak says more research is needed to understand exactly how the light is produced and what information it may reveal about the condition of living tissue. “We must understand what that is to figure out what’s happening,” he says. “If we can understand how that relates to certain influences on the body – stress, diseases – then that could be used as a diagnostic tool.” The researchers believe the technique could eventually help scientists study health and disease without invasive procedures. Because UPE can be measured without adding dyes, markers or labels, it may offer a way to monitor whether tissue is healthy, damaged or alive. In plants, it could help researchers better understand how organisms respond to injury, heat and other forms of stress. While the work is still in its early stages, the study demonstrates that ultraweak photon emission imaging can provide a non-invasive and label-free way to observe biological activity. Researchers say the approach could become a useful tool for studying vitality, stress responses and other important processes in both animals and plants.
