It contains an older Creative WDM Audio Device Driver. The CD has 2.13.00.0012 and the download is Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi series Vista Driver 2.15.0002 from their web site.

If creative is allowing these links to stay up on their forums, I'm guessing we can leave them hear for now. Saying that, at least I can discuss it.

I'm obtaining it via a bitorrent link posted in their forums. All I really want or need is the THX software to handle a few things like sub crossover and varying speaker differences. I'm still not sure why Creative feels the need to charge for a CD for this. I guess they don't want to pay for the bandwidth (well, duh!), so I can also see why tey're leaving BT links and off site links to the software suite on their forums.

bangbang: CD is free, its the postage that costs, so its minimal - although my CD arrived in a padded box so perhaps they were being overcautious.

They haven't pulled any of the torrents on there at all, including you pax etc.

Anyway, the sub crossover stuff works fine and the autoupdater can be used afterwards to update alchemy or the drivers if you have older versions installed.

The software works fine with my X-Fi Platinum.

Even the remote now works with Windows Media Center on Windows Vista.

You can choose not to install drivers as you install the other software.

If this is real, I might just upgrade to an X-Fi since proper software support for my Audigy 2 ZS is a pipe dream.

Not to mention that they will be charging Audigy users for ALchemy.

On the bright side, at least Audigy users aren't mistreated that poorly. My friend's in a deep hole of crap. His Live 24-bit card not only has terribly half-assed support on Vista (no option to select 5.1, how about that?), but the kX drivers that are the only options for Live users don't work with the 24-bit card. Tough luck. :pinch:

What is really stupid is my 6.1 STILL DOESN'T WORK!

I finally got 5.1 to kinda work

Microsoft do not support 6.1 in Windows Vista and Creative are unable to add it themselves.

Yes I know Creative claims that MS removed 6.1 support from Vista for some stupid reason.

Yet I don't recall seeing a valid explanation.

I also swear i have seen others with 6.1 in Vista... Just not a creative card.
