General Information

This release is based on the all-new
AutoPatcher 5.6.
It was made for Windows
Vista 32 and 64 bit
and is independent of the language of Windows Vista. That means that if you're running a 32 bit version of Vista, you'll only see the modules for Vista 32 bit (the same thing for the 64 bit version).

Note:
This release is All-In-One (AIO) compatible. That means that now you may combine thi version with all the English releases.

Please provide feedback.

icon11.gifBitTorrent is a P2P system that makes transfering large files (or groups of files) amongst a large group of people easy, fast and efficient. The BitTorrent network is impressive mostly for the speed and reliability with which you get files that have been recently released. As long as a .torrent file has enough people sharing then you can be assured that it will start quickly and maintain a good download speed. Always remember to leave your BitTorrent client open to help distribute the files!

Hosted and ready to distribute with Cachefly :)

I'm very surprised at the growth of the Vista releases in traffic volume.

AutoPatcher_Vista_Apr2007_Full.exe - 1.72GB transferred

AutoPatcher_Vista_May2007_v2_Full.exe - 275.01GB transferred

AutoPatcher_WinVista_Jun07_Core.exe - 773.02GB transferred

Who knows what this release will bring ;) Now that this is AIO it should help even more...

Not sure how to track the total GB transferred ...but i can track downloads and so far I am up to 342 Downloads of the June Vista Core file

i suppose i could multiply that out but too much work!

uploading the July version right now

Hi,

http://ap.snowmanuk.net Mirror has been updated.

I am also trialling a world-wide Content Distribution Network (CDN) called Coblitz Codeen (see http://codeen.cs.princeton.edu/coblitz/ for info) for the distribution of AP updates.

If you download from the "Primary Download Location" link from my mirror, the files will be served by your local CDN node in country or nearest to you.

This reduces the BW load on my server, as I upload it once to the CDN then it spreads across the world.

Please give it a try the more people that download the better the CDN distributes the file.

Any problems please e-mail snowmanuk at hotmail dot com

Enjoy, and Keep up the good work AP....

After running AutoPatcher I still get the following two updates:

Update for Windows Media Format 11 SDK for Windows Vista (KB929399)

Update for .NET Framework 3.0: x86 (KB932471)

Checking the hotfix list in AP, KB929399 seems to be included but apparently it didnt install. So what about KB932471?

Just perusing the patches available from MS WU website with those available from AutoPatcher, I am met with some questions. First, it seems MS WU provides very few, but with some having higher KB numbering, indicating newer versions.

Viewing AutoPatcher I see considerably more patches available with many having a lower KB numbering.

I was considering allowing those at MS WU to be applied and afterward running AutoPatcher to see what has been updated and then following on along with AutoPatcher. Is that a good strategy for someone who doesn't know exactly what each of the patches perform on the opsys?

Of course, I'm not discussing Add-ons and the like.

Thanks!

    • Yeah, this is absolutely nothing new and EA have done it before. Burnout Paradise, released in 2008, had dynamic advertising billboards that were updated via the internet and targeted people based on location and what EA knew about them from their profile. It was particularly notable for the fact that the Obama presidential campaign ran ads in the game, in an attempt to reach a younger audience who didn't watch broadcast TV any more. It was by no means the first though. Battlefield 2142 from 2006 had the same thing. In fact, Neowin wrote a story about it back then. https://www.neowin.net/news/ba...-in-game-ads-clarification/
    • This is obviously aimed at the education where Apple has lost so much ground to Chromebooks in the last few years, but unless they come up with a comparable management system for education why would anyone switch back?
    • Here's how we arrived at that claim: Note that this is just Play Store downloads. The app is also available on the Galaxy App Store
    • Google Play states the app had more than 50 million downloads. What other metric do you suggest should be used?
    • MSN defined our generation in some ways, kind of like Snapchat and TikTok have done for future generations. I have great memories of the MSN era in the late 90s / early 2000s. In the UK everyone seemed to come home from School and go on MSN for the evening. We didn't really have mobile phones then, so other than going and knocking on your friends door it was a totally new way of interacting with people. I also loved how I could talk to people I’d met playing online games from around the world. Inviting people to NetMeeting and messing about with the shared white board and webcams was pretty fun, even if webcams only ran at a couple of fps over dial-up. All the random things you could do with MsgPlus! were really fun - I suspect that made a few people jump with /shello randomly blasting Mr Hankey out their speakers! Maybe I’m just nostalgic, however I do feel the internet and computers were more fun back then.
