AutoPatcher no longer allowed

Some of the responses here are just childish. "F Microsoft" "Micro$soft" "I'll never buy another MS product again" (You will).

Sure, you can be dissapointed that this is the action they have taken as most people in this thread are, it was certainly a very very good product that the community had going.

However, it's Microsoft's software, and they have the right to deny other people distribute it.

Hi Nashy,

What's the meaning of childish for you? I believe this is a new fashion on the web to criticize other's opinions. No I'm not buying any other Microsoft product ever again as I said. You don't have to believe me but I will NOT do so for sure. It is totally true Microsoft has the right to deny people distribute their software but I'm completely sure their attitude will be different if they were only a 5% on the market instead an 80%.

Deny, EULA, Copyright, Buggy software, etc is everything you will ever heard about Microsoft. That's it, I'm done with them.

Have you ever been locked out of your PC because WGA says your copy is not Genuine? I personally have had terrible experiences with legal(purchased) Microsoft products. You can't be really disappointed as you said when you take no actions against something you don't consider convenient.

You simply don't know what a 4 years of hard work, coffee nights, "overtime", testing, and sacrifice means for those who FREELY made that Autopatcher you probably downloaded so many times. But that's life and there has to be people like you and childish like me.

Peace

Well this is a let down. Hopefully the Microsoft representative "looking" into the matter can provide further info/details. I use AP as part of my OS deployment. If AP stops updating i will have to go back to making my own manual batch script of updates (such a pain) or slipstream the updates into the OS install (also a pain).

Shoutout to the AP guys for creating a great application. Was good while it lasted.

The latest version I have is June Full I found the July and Aug updates HERE

I have a small Computer repair company in a very small town in Idaho.

I have only a 256K DSL Connection at best. this is the fastest I can get here

It would take me day's to get all of the updates if I had to do several computers

in one day.

Just wondering how many of you Donated to autopatcher. I will admit I only donated about $70.00 in the past year

unless Microsoft can come up with a software package that offers the amazing functionality and usefulness that Autopatcher offered, they are a pack of idiots.

They should be hiring the Autopatcher team! Not issuing them with a cease-and-desist notice.

Agreed

I've been using Autopatcher for over 3 years. It's extremely sad to see this project end like this. But for what it's worth you guys did an amazing job and I thank you for your skill and dedication . You saved me countless hours of work and effort over the years. :)

Thank you, AutoPatcher team!

This is my first post here, so let me start with a huge thank you to the AutoPatcher team. :)

AutoPatcher has saved me countless hours after my many reformats, and when fixing the PCs of friends and family. It makes updating Windows so much easier to deal with. I am very sad that Microsoft has decided they want it gone. You all have put so many hours into this project, thank you!

With that said, AutoPatcher isn't gone yet. I don't think Microsoft has any idea how many people they just got mad.

The "malicious code" is what gets me. An unpatched Windows Install is very vulnerable against infections. Microsoft's fear of malicious code in AutoPatcher is misplaced, if even true. A fresh Windows install can easily be infected before the user has time to download Windows Updates. I won't even plug the ethernet cable in on a fresh install until I have run AutoPatcher and have all of my protection software set up. And like others brought up, if someone is paid by the hour to fix a PC with dial-up internet, they may not even bother to patch Windows.

My rambling is over for now. I am going to send a polite email to Microsoft and hope that they at least add it to their count of emails wanting AutoPatcher back. Thanks again AutoPatcher team!

Guess MS got p'od that we were trying to make an awful prodcut (Vista) into something better with the patches.

Oh well, MS's lose.

dude... autopatcher uses the same patches that are downloaded from microsoft... autopatcher doesnt make vista better, it just provides an alternate way of getting the fixes.

Wow, that royally sucks. This is going to be an annoyance from people that are home users to people that are network administrators.

To the AutoPatcher team: Thank you for your amazing application and the time it saved. Your time into the project is well appreciated.

And as is always the case, with Microsoft, come up with a better way of doing something...

Microsoft will

#1 Prohibit you from doing it...

#2 Threaten others from using what you created....

#3 Force you to sell it to them, so then they can claim it as their own product....

#4 Then MS will wonder why people do not want to pay for their products...

Never knowing that the more they cheat the public, the more the public will try to cheat them.

Well if you have a server box in your home or Windows Home Server just use SUS. It will download one copy of all the updates for whatever products you want. If your a repair shop make a 2 .reg files. One to add Your server as the windows update source and one to set back to MS Update. Also you could learn to slipstream if there new installs.

Thank you, AutoPatcher team!
that goes for me too. :)

check this out:

...you can download a DVD ISO image of all updates for Windows as of August - but it's for all versions of Windows whether you want them or not, it's 2.8Gb, and it doesn't even include any of the dozens of tweaks, addons, and additional Microsoft software included with Autopatcher, it's just the security fixes! all 2803Mb of them!

    • 10 games join Xbox Free Play Days this weekend by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Another Free Play Days offer has just landed, and this one is a unique one. On top of offering 10 games to jump into for Xbox players, all the titles are from a single publisher: No More Robots. The promotion has games like Little Rocket Lab, Spirittea, Descenders Next, Let's Build a Zoo, and much more. Almost every game in the selection does need an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, or Essential subscription, so keep this in mind when browsing. Many of the titles are Xbox Play Anywhere titles though, so both Xbox console and PC players can jump in. Here's how the announcement blog post described some of the available titles: There is one game that's available to all Xbox players without the need for any subscriptions, which is Descenders. Here are the announced games and the platforms they are available to play on: Little Rocket Lab (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Spirittea (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Soccer Story (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Descenders Next (Game Preview) (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Let's Build a Zoo (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Hypnospace Outlaw (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Nowhere Prophet (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Family Man (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One) Descenders (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) To easily find the titles on Xbox consoles, first head to the Store, then in the sidebar, find the Home section. In there, open the Subscriptions tab. The Free Play Days collection will show up in this area. This week's Free Play Days promotions will end on Sunday, June 7, at 11:59 pm PT.
