Episode 4.13/4.14 - There's No Place Like Home (Parts 2 & 3) - Promos and Screencaps

Episode 4.13: "There's No Place Like Home" (Oceanic 6-centric flash-forward)

Airdate: May 29, 2008, 9 p.m.

Written by: Damon Lindelof & Carlton Cuse

Directed by: Jack Bender

Episode Description: The face-off between the survivors and the freighter people continues, and the Oceanic Six find themselves closer to rescue.

Guest Stars: Jeremy Davies as Daniel Faraday, Ken Leung as Miles Straume, Rebecca Mader as Charlotte Lewis, Jeff Fahey as Frank Lapidus, L. Scott Caldwell as Rose, Malcolm David Kelley as Walt, Nestor Carbonell as Richard Alpert, John Terry as Christian Shephard, Sonya Walger as Penelope "Penny" Widmore, Alan Dale as Charles Widmore, Kevin Durand as Keamy, Francois Chau as Dr. Marvin Candle, Anthony Azizi as Omar, Alex Petrovitch as Henrik and Starletta DuPois as Michael?s mom, Nigel Gibbs as funeral director, and Greg Grunberg as pilot.

Flash-forward Spoilers:

* The episode elaborates on Jack's flash-forward ambition to journey back to the island, and what happened to those who didn't get off the island.

* Jin, Sawyer and Locke are alive on the island in the future.

* Seth Norris, the Oceanic 815 pilot, makes an appearance.

* The funeral director makes an appearance.

* Ben and Sun meets with Charles Widmore at London.

* Sun pays a visit to her father's office at Paik Industries.

* We find out who is in the coffin.

* Desmond is in the Hoffs Drawlar funeral parlor. He's wearing a suit and tie, with his hair pulled back.

* There are two alternative explanations for why Oceanic 815 is in the trench at the bottom of the ocean. It will not be clear which story one should believe. Both stories will be presented and both stories will have legitimate facts presented on their behalves.

* The mystery of Ben's list is linked to the wreckage.

* It features one of the most spectacular kisses ever seen on the show. The kiss happens off the island, and it will complicate the Jack-Kate-Sawyer love triangle. It "stops time" and "makes the entire world vanish in the moment."

* The season-ending twist, code-named ''Frozen Donkey Wheel,'' is not the last scene of the episode. It will leave viewers ballistic as far as cliffhangers go, and set the stage for another series reinvention.

On-Island Spoilers:

* The episode shows how the Oceanic Six escaped the island.

* The Orchid is one of the largest DHARMA stations built. It has multiple floors and different sections that have different purposes.

* Dr. Candle is on the island. This may suggest that he's appearing on the Orchid's orientation film, or he has a large part in a flash sequence.

* The Orchid will pay off in a big way.

* A little more stuff about the freighter folk will be incorporated to make things more fluid.

* We find out whether Jack or Locke was right.

* Ben probably knows why Widmore is looking for the island, but may not be telling the full truth. We will find out whether Ben is telling the full truth.

* There's at least one significant death.

* The freighter people are not the ones who rescue the Oceanic Six.

* Hurley, Sun, Jack, Kate, Sayid, and Desmond swim toward the Zodiac raft through some debris. Hurley ? clutching Aaron ? helps pull Kate, Sun, and Sayid aboard. But Jack and Desmond take a little longer to reach them. And Desmond is holding someone who?s not moving.

* Charlotte Lewis was an obvious reference to C.S. Lewis and an important clue to places that will be introduced at the end of the season [and an important clue to Charlotte's own, as-yet-untold important backstory].

Rumors:

* Jack's beginning efforts to return to the island mirror the real-time events of him leaving the island with the rest of the Oceanic Six.

* The person in the coffin is Michael. He's responsible for getting only six off the island. He's not known as one of the Oceanic Six because he gets off under another alias. This is why nobody went to the funeral. If it had been one of the Oceanic Six, there would have been a media frenzy. Kate did not want to go to the funeral because of what Michael did.

* Jacob is Horace Goodspeed.

Think I asked before the last time you posted those, whats the source?

Anyone else think it was funny when Sun pwnd her Dad? 1 of 2 people that killed Jin. Would the other be Widmore and does that mean Jin actually dies? I would assume it is possible as there were 4 red shirts that got on the freighter with Sun and Jin.

I thought that was awesome, but recall that Sun said Jin died in the crash, which is a lie; everyone else believes that to be the case so we're almost certain that Jin is alive on the island. I understood the second person to be herself.

I thought Jin made it off the island? When they had his flash-forward episode he was delivering that gift to a client who was having a baby... while at the same time he wife was giving birth.. Or was that a flashback and flash forward episode in one?

Correct, that was a flashback and flash forward.

Yes, Jin's part of that episode was a flashback. It was done to 'trick' us into thinking he was one of the Oceanic Six.

I don't know. I thought Jin was alive up until the part with Sun's father where she tells him he is responsible for his death. I don't think she is saying she is the other person responsible. Though, you can probably have a very short list for that: Widmore, Jack, Locke, Ben, Keamy, Michael.

Who was on the plane with the Oceanic 6?

Those of you who watched LOST last night are going to love this.

When the woman in the cabin went to the back of the plane to talk to the Oceanic 6, she nodded to someone who wasn't on screen. WHO IS ON THE PLANE WITH THE OCEANIC 6?

    • Who is paying for this 30x scale-up? Its sounds expensive.
    • Millions of users to benefit from Windows 11's new performance boost on Adobe Photoshop by Sayan Sen Despite the advent of AI-generated imagery, Adobe's Photoshop remains one of the most popular tools on this planet. Adobe does not have a publicly reported total user count but it's probably not wrong to assume there are millions. As of 2025, Adobe Creative Cloud has had approximately 41 million paid subscribers, many of whom likely use Photoshop. In addition, more than 166,000 companies worldwide are apparently also using the app. These figures are according to a very recent report by SQ Magazine. Out of them, it is fair to assume that many are probably running Windows. As such, there is good news for these users as Microsoft has announced Photoshop is getting a big 20% performance boost on x86-64 (AMD64) systems and a 13% bump-up on Arm devices. This is definitely great news for them as many have complained about the slow performance and general sluggishness of Photoshop on Windows 11 ever since the advent of the latter back in 2021. If you are wondering how Microsoft managed to do this, the answer lies in a combination of compiler-level optimizations and a technology called Sample Profile Guided Optimization (SPGO). According to Microsoft, Adobe worked closely with the company’s Visual C++ team and adopted the latest MSVC toolchain enhancements together with SPGO to squeeze more performance out of Photoshop’s CPU-bound workloads. Unlike traditional Profile Guided Optimization (PGO), which requires developers to create special instrumented builds and run lengthy training workloads, SPGO gathers performance data directly from optimized release binaries. This means Adobe could collect real-world usage information which gives a major advantage to this technique, as companies could leverage data collected from actual customer workloads rather than only relying on synthetic benchmark runs. In theory, this should allow optimizations to better reflect how users interact with software in the real world. Thanks to this, there are improvements to code layout, function inlining, hot-and-cold code separation, and other low-level tweaks that help processors execute instructions more efficiently. Essentially the compiler is better able to identify “hot” code paths, those which are most frequently executed, and optimize them accordingly.
    • "The 2TB Samsung 990 PRO NVMe SSD hits lowest price in over three months¨ I'd prefer to see the lowest price in over a year
    • Glad these prices are starting to come down, but that is still crazy. I bought the 2TB 9100 Pro (slightly more expensive version with PCIe 5.0) last year for $240.
    • The 2TB Samsung 990 PRO NVMe SSD hits lowest price in over three months by Sayan Sen Yesterday, we covered a really good deal wherein you can get a 4TB TeamGroup T-FORCE G50 NVMe PCIe Gen4 SSD for a low price of just $400 with a special discount coupon. That's just $100 per TB, making it a very good offer during these hard times. The deal is still live, so you can check it out in its dedicated article here if you do not want to miss out. Meanwhile, if you don't have that kind of budget but still wish to buy an SSD for a good price, the 2TB variant of the TeamGroup SSD at $280 its lowest price in over three months. Meanwhile, those seeking 2TB but faster performance can check out Samsung's 990 PRO, which has hit the lowest price also in the last quarter or so, as it's on sale for $370 (purchase links under the specs table down below). Thus, you want a faster drive, get the 990 Pro, or you want more capacity, grab the TeamGroup 4TB linked in the first para. The 990 PRO is a PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD and still one of the fastest drives available today for under $500. Speaking of fast, sequential reads and writes are rated at 7450 MB/s and 6900 MB/s, respectively. The random throughputs for reads and writes are 1400K IOPS and 1550K IOPS, respectively. The 990 PRO is based on Samsung's 7th Gen V-NAND flash, and it too is TLC. It packs 2 gigs of LPDDR4 DRAM cache, which helps the random performance. The endurance rating for this is 1200 TBW (terabytes written), which should be sufficient for most users. The Samsung 990 PRO is compatible with the PlayStation 5, but if you are going to use the 990 PRO on a PC, check out the Samsung Magician app that lets you track your drive's health, update its firmware, customize various settings, and more.
