A Collection of Essential Guides: This is Neowin's 'A' Forum. If you came here looking for help when no-one else could help you, chances are you need the 'A' Forum *cue music* 'A Collection of Essential Guides' are member and staff submitted articles or guides that cover most areas and have been deemed both accurate and helpful to our community.

If you are willing to contribute a guide, Neowin requests that you post the entire guide in the first post of the thread (or at least as much as possible). Threads that post little more than a brief description and a link to an external guide will be closed.

Switchers: These days it's more common for end-users to switch to another platform, Neowin is here to assist users who have taken the plunge and switched from one main vendor to another.

The basic user function difference between Apple, Windows and a Linux distribution can be daunting, but with the help of fellow members who are already familiar with their choice of platform we hope that your transition to another platform will be a less rocky one.

When using these forums it's important that topics are started in the correct section and that your question is formatted in a manner that fellow members can easily answer without having to request additional information. This section can be used as a means to request advice on which platform is right for you.

Customizing Windows Vista: Welcome to the Customizing Windows Vista section of the boards. Here you may post, or reply to customizing related topics for Windows Vista.

Members' Metropolis: We have created this forum so that off topic and mature issues can be discussed in its own forum section. The Real World Issues forum allows political and otherwise controversial debate while The Soapbox can be used to have a rant. As usual per the community rules this does not give you the right to be one of the following: Racist or Hateful/Victimizing toward others. Such posts are dealt with zero tolerance as stated in the "Community Rules".

NeoBay (Buy/Sell or Trade): This section of the forum allows for registered members to buy, sell or trade items with other Neowin members.

Neowin accepts no responsibility or liability for any transactions that take place as the result of a sale or purchase of an item in this forum.

We require threads to stay on-topic, any off-topic posts will be deleted or moved at our discretion. Has the thread you started or participated in been moved or deleted? Check with the forum moderator via PM, under no circumstances start threads asking why other threads were moderated. Forum moderation is not up for public debate, such threads will be deleted and the thread starter warned.

Topics must be correctly pre-fixed, Threads started without correct headers can & will be deleted without notice.

[FS] must be used for topics selling items. Think about your target buyer, where do you live? Ie [FS:UK]

[REQ] must be used for topics requesting items. Additionally you could add land-code ie: [REQ:USA]

[FT] must be used for any Trade requests. Again, where do you want a trade to take place? ie: [FT:CA]

[eBay] must be used for any eBay requests. Once again, Where do you want to ship this item to? ie: [eBay:AUS]

Thread bumping is not permitted with the exception of 1 post per 48 hours by the thread starter. A bump is classified as a post after your last post that doesn't bring any relevant information to your thread. An update on which items are available or price changes are fine. If a person is caught bumping threads outside this exception - it will be deleted and that person will be warned or restricted from this area.

Gamers' Hangout: Welcome to the Gamers' Hangout, here we have 4 sections that try to cater for your particular interest. Please use the main Gamers' Hangout forum (this forum) for discussion of cross-platform games or for discussions of Linux and Macintosh games. All Console and Windows game discussions should be kept in their respectively named forums.

Please discuss topics respectfully. Attempts to bait others into flamewars will not be tolerated. The use of "fanboy" (or any similar derogatory term) when used against a specific member or group of members will be considered flame-bait and/or a personal attack. You also may not join a discussion for the purpose of destroying it by making lame and unhelpful comments. Such people will be dealt with accordingly. In summary, no flamebaiting, no trolling and no personal attacks.
