Big Suprise in Leopard?

Cure for cancer/global warming

That would be the surprise of the century.

anyway, it would be really cool if leopard had some nice Gui feature that we haven't seen yet...to appear. but if none of the beta testers have seen it then I doubt it's there...

it would be a risk to release untested feature like that unless it's a simple thing like another theme for leopard or something.

What do you want anyways... most changes are under the hood and there are already a plenty of very nice changes for the users.

New finder with coverflow, new iTunes visual effects, new Front Row, new Dock, Stacks, Spaces, Safari 3, Dashboard Webclips, Unified interface, a lot of facelifts in many applications, Quick Look, Time machine, new Xcode... maybe resolution independance someday... geez, give them a chance!

It's up to the app developers now to take advantage of the new leopard features...

The only thing that could happen maybe is a new QuickTime, but without iTunes 8, I doubt it. Anyway, new QuickTime and iTunes will follow someday.

I doubt it, but it is possible. But it would be like shipping untested software. In fact, it would be shipping untested software.

Could they not test it within Apple instead of testing it publicly? Like, secretly or something? I dunno how the testing works, so I could be completely making an ass of myself here. :p

Anyway, I hope there is something neat on it!

Yeah exactly. Don't they do this with the iLife suite? I don't think anyone ever leaked info or pics about iLife 08. So maybe it was just tested internally or with a highly trusted team of beta testers. So maybe there could be a secret in leopard.

Offering it as a product you can install on all x86 systems would be a massive surprise. Id buy it.

But highly doubtful. :( The Apple hardware is just starting to become competative (price vs spec wise) and OSX is the only killer 'edge' they have. The designs are great too, dont get me wrong, but there are other all-in-ones around and without OSX being exclusive, I reckon people would be tempted away.

We live in hope though.

There are really quite good points and advantages that Apple would gain... Its really perfect business logic and perfect time for Apple to start selling OSX without the hardware.. check my blogpost and the observations I had made here a while back.

If this is the surprise, then wherez the line outside Apple stores... Im gonna be there for sure!!

well it is possible Apple could be gearing up for this in the future. ... they have now incorporated third party software companies in their Apple software update...

so all updates go through apple for third party software (possibly also drivers etc..) This is a feature in Leopard now...but it's still being tested apparently.

It's similar to windows update signed updates.

So you never know it could well be around the corner when it's open to any x86 system.

It's been said lots of times... Apple would go bankrupt if they did that.

I very much doubt that, after all a lot of people are already running it on their pcs via somewhat dubious methords.

They make quite a bit on ipods.etc so they'd probably not go bankrupt.

    • Nvidia GeForce NOW gains support for Dark Scrolls, Empulse, and more by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The final update of June for Nvidia's cloud gaming service GeForce NOW is now available, and it is touting support for six more games. The company is also drawing subscriber attention towards the summer sales kicking off across stores, so they can stock up on more cloud-supported titles. Of course, the Steam Summer Sale is the biggest promotion, which is kicking off later today. "Supported Steam games can be streamed across devices with GeForce NOW, making it easy to buy a game once, keep progress synced and pick up where the gameplay left off on PCs, Macs, handheld devices, phones, TVs and more," says the company. "In other words, the Steam Summer Sale brings the deals; GeForce NOW adds the flexibility." Don't forget that the GeForce NOW summer sale is still active as well. This limited-time offer drops the 12-month Performance membership from $99.99 to $64.99, saving members $35. At the same time, the 12-month Ultimate membership is currently going for $129.99, dropping the price by $70 from the original $199.99. Here are the games joining GeForce NOW's supported list this week: Dark Scrolls (New release on Steam, available June 22) SAND: Raiders of Sophie (New release on Steam, available June 22) Deer & Boy (New release on Steam, available June 23) EMPULSE (New release on Steam, available June 24) The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales (Steam) FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves (Steam) With the June expansions coming to an end, Nvidia should be announcing its July GeForce NOW plans next week. Keep in mind that, unlike subscription services like Game Pass or EA Play, a copy of a game must be owned by the GeForce NOW member (or at least have a license via PC Game Pass) to start playing via Nvidia's cloud servers. There is also a limit to how many hours subscribers can use the service per month.
