Ya, but I thought that cylon + cylon couldn't have kids which is why they got involved with humans, i.e the whole experiment thing with Helo and Boomer in the first series.

Right, but this is one aspect that differentiates the final five from the other seven.

The thing that gets me is that they're named the final 5, not the original 5. What's more, Moore stated that they don't have model numbers.

However, the known cylons are numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8. So where's 7? And aren't we missing one of the "final 5"?

Could it be that the last of the "final 5" is actually a cylon, possibly the Sharon that stood apart from the other 8's?

I brought this up a while back, and nobody gave it a second glance. :laugh:

That's an interesting theory, actually. I wonder...

The known humanoid Cylons are as follows:

  • Number One (Cavil)
  • Number Two (Leoben Conoy)
  • Number Three (D'Anna Biers)
  • Number Four (Simon)
  • Number Five (Aaron Doral)
  • Number Six (Shelly Godfrey/Gina Inviere/Natalie/Caprica)
  • Number Eight (Sharon "Boomer" Valeri/Sharon "Athena" Agathon)

That leaves Number Seven. It's possible that Number Seven is the final Cylon model. Also, there are four Cylons on Galactica (Tigh, Anders, Foster, and Tyrol). That leaves us with a total of 12 Cylon models, including the unknown Number Seven.

Also, the reason they're called the final five is quite simple. They are the last humanoid Cylons to be revealed hence why they're called the "final five".

Possible spoiler: I think the final Cylon model is either Kara Thrace or Gaius Baltar. Ron Moore has stated that there are already clues as to who the final Cylon is. Remember the episode where they find a Cylon Raider? Kara learned how to pilot it quite quickly. Also, she used to draw holy symbols regarding the Temple of the Five when she was a child. That could be a hint that she is indeed the final Cylon. As for Baltar, nothing (other than him being the final Cylon) would explain how he talks to the Number Six that visits him. Heck there was one episode she actually held him in the air, physically. I'll take a guess and say that Kara Thrace is the final Cylon. After all, she's the so called "harbinger of doom".

I just re-watched the BSG pilot before. I have to say, I was looking for little hints here and there, grasping at ideas etc, knowing full well the writers probably didn't have a clue they'd go with this whole final five thing and all the mythos surrounding it.

But, I did notice something right at the end just about. Adama says goodnight to his son, and goes into his cabin. He then sees a note on a table or desk etc, opens and reads it and it says "There are only 12 cylon models"

Now how the hell did that get there? Who put it there? It wasn't Boomer, she didn't know she was a cylon yet. I doubt very much a Six did it, or a Leoben. Possibly a sleeper one of them of course, but I doubt it. My guess is, if Moore had any thought at all how the series would pan out, he had the final cylon in mind for that one, but that's just me. Watching that pilot, and Revelations again just now, I have to say my two possible choices for the final cylon.

Admiral Adama and Laura Roslin. There is just SOMETHING about that note that makes me think Roslin put it there when she was his cabin, or that Adama possibly left it there at some point himself. Plus, now that we know the final five are obviously VERY different than the other humanoid models, ie: they can age, gain weight lose hair etc, it would make sense it could be either Roslin or Adama in the end. Plus, if they can age etc, why can't they get sick (and possibly die) from cancer?

I dunno, grasping at straws I guess. Just sucks we gotta wait until who the heck knows when now to see it conclude.

I rule out Adama as two Cylons in military power positions seems anti-climatic. I have thought perphaps it was Roslin, as she was just a teacher in the pilot who got thrusted to President. Cancer would seem a good cover up which a Cylon could possibly fake, after all her cancer did dissapear at one point. But then the prophecies wouls say otherwise. I agree with your thinking, however I apply it to Starbuck, I think she is the final Cylon. I don't see it being anyone else, not even a lesser character or an unknown.

I always figured Baltar somehow put it there. Afterall Caprica Six told him that there are 12 models before she was killed by the nuke so Baltar is the only one of "our guys" who definately knew that at this point.

I have a feeling its not Gaius, Adama, Roslin, or Kara. Just for the simpe fact that all the hidden cylons have been supporting those characters.

Tigh -> Adama

Anders -> Kara

Tory -> Roslin & Gaius

Tyrol -> ?

If all the hidden cylons are influencing people of power .... why not Zarek? or someone else influencial. I am basically an open rant of ideas right now.

So far, four out of the "final five" exhibit traits that aren't found in regular Cylons. For instance, they can age, become sick, and even lose hair. I'm starting to think the "final five" are more like the "original five". Five Cylon models, perhaps the first humanoid models. That explains why they can age, etc. Maybe they're v1.0 whereas the other Cylon models are v2.0.

The mid-season finale seemed really rushed to me, though the whole BSG series experience has been fueled by anticipation as plotlines slowly build only to be revealed in a sudden flash of revelation taking all the suspense that I put into the wait with it.

About "Earth"... the comments about the continents appearing as our come from the season 3 finale in which the closing scene pans from the Nebula standoff to the location of Earth and you see the North American continent clearly. When the fleet finally reaches Earth, you can clearly see a charred guardrail concreted into the ground, a car on it's side with bottom-side and tires facing the camera, a city-scape in the distant and as the final scene closes out, the remnants of a suspension bridge foundation pan into view before the show fades out.

Also, did anyone notice the formation of three cylon raiders flying escort around the basestar during the standoff over the final five? I thought all their raiders had been destroyed as stated in a previous episode? Just a strange script inconsistency I took notice of... :p

I'm pretty sure the base ships can manufacture heavy raiders just like it can repair itself.

    • Yup, broke my comp… again. its times like this when I regret AMD. This just never happens on NV.
    • Huh? You're delusional calling the Steam Deck dead. It is so successful that it has sold out multiple times. Even after the price hike this year it sold out again with 24 hours of being back in stock. The demand is real and has not died down even after four years.
