Xbox 360 Fall Update

the only way they would add group chat would be for the dashboard only...it would be to easy to ghost in games like Gears of War if you could have your entire team in a group chat

If people want to Ghost then they are going to be able to whether MS supports group chat or not. All they need is to use a PC for chat and they're set.

I don't see why clan support is so popular. It really detracts from the game, in just turning it into pure competition rather than something that, while being competitive, is a lot of fun. And in fact, Bungie left it out of Halo 3 for good reason (quote from Frankie):

Clan support not only had little to do with Halo 2s longevity, but in fact proved quite unpopular relative to other matchmaking types and activity. That said, Bungie.net does plan to increase support for clan-like activities in the very near future. More news on that later.

Clan support really isn't all it's hyped up to be, IMO, and it wouldn't bother me if they didn't add the feature.

A lot of people mention other codec support. I'd like to be able to stream my digital DVD collection (I've ripped all mine to my computer) to my 360 (all files are still in DVD format). I can do it with, say, Transcode 360, but I'd really like to not have to. Media Center won't play them because they 'can't be streamed from a remote location'.

Well I just realized that it's close to that time of year, and there's been surprisingly little chatter about the next Xbox 360 major update. When do you think it'll hit, and what surprises do you think/hope Microsoft will have in store for us?

-1 (for not being an actual story/rumor :p)

Ability to log into MSN using a different account than the one tied to your Xbox Live account. I'm pretty sure Microsoft said this would be there, I can's get you an exact quote. And I can't use my WLM account on Live because it got corrupted on Microsoft's side of things :\

it can if you have a program such as tversity. or transcode 360 on your desktop on the same network but not natively

yes.. but due to the way my network is set up... I am unable to stream movies from my pc to my xbox 360 over my network... I can just burn a bunch of divx files to a dvd and play on my xbmc...

I just want divx/xvid playback. That would make my life a hell of a lot easier.

As of now its pretty easy with transcode360, cant really get any easier IMO unless they just give it native support which im not saying I dont want but people make it out to be harder the it is.

Would looooove group chat, 16:10 support as well, these i want the most.

ever tried transcoding 720 tv shows or movies ?

to avoid the movie simply stopping or having it skip around or freeze as it hits the buffer end, you have to let ot pre buffer in pause for quite some time, even twith regular res shows you need to giv it a few minutes to buffer up.

lol well id love

- A Browser, i feel the 360 is missing this, PS3 has one and the Wii has too. Why not 360. MSN integration was a first, next step possibly MSN/Xbox Communities? With the MSN chat pad it would go well with browser and character imput.

- Im not sure if anyone has brought this up, but this is what really really REALLY bugs me. When playing an MP3 from lets say my ipod (maybe HDD aswell not sure but deffos with ipod) i cannot forward or rewind songs, or even go to a certain place in a song (ie 1:25 ... etc etc) Would love to see this implemented, i dont think the original xbox had this either so MS if you are reading and checking forums for feedback READ THIS :p

- Keyboard + Mouse support (we can hope lol !) If it is a problem with licensing etc then Make an officail xbox360 keyboard + Mouse, i would gladly buy one to play COD4 or Halo3 etc etc and also with UT3 coming soon ;)

- More Codecs, im getting sick of TRANSCODING using TVersity(dont get me wrong its a great piece of kit, but sometimes when it transcodes i cant do anything on the computer). Also i dont want to convert all my movie collection WMV and then stream that over, that would take ages.

- Video Market Place for Europe

- Personal Blade which is fully or almost fully customizable. Maybe have cool features like weather, notes, calendar, To do list, an alarm (i would love that, would tell me its time to get some sleep or get to work haha, do tend to get carried away when im playing)

- Bluetooth Support (okies dont laugh lol, im not sure how but it maybe possible to do this, i think orange broadband added bluetooth to thier livebox(router) via a FW update so it maybe possible on the 360)

not really sure what else, might have a think and post more if i can.

I agree with half of those, the other half... not so much... my reasoning... then it wouldnt be a console, it would just be a computer. Imagine 5yrs from now... "HP Pavillion XBox" :p

Clans or whatver I don't care about.

I would however liek another option. between yoru regular friends list and the last played tab, I wish they'd add another "communities" tab. Then have a site where peopel can create communities like on the Halo 3 site, but preferably all across live!. And under there you'd be able to Select one of the communities you're a member of and see who's online in that community.

Then we could see who on Neowin is online at all time, without adding every neowinian to your friends list.

Grouping of the friends list would be nice too :)

and yeah Xvid and full mp4 support :)

no more blades. I don't really see a need for this anyway, mostly gimmicky, just look out the window if you want to see the weather :p

as for BT... why ? why would you want or need BT support on the 360 ? the RF system used in the 360 is far faster than BT anyway.

Well i would love to send photos, music and possibly mp4 movies to my xbox360, now since i cant send by Wifi even though the N95 has it, i can send by bluetooth. :D main reason really for BT. Dont think my N95 can stream stuff over to 360 either if its possible please let me know, wouldnt mind trying it out.

    • Microsoft releases PowerToys v0.100.1, fixes a bug that made remapped keys misbehave by Ivan Jenic Microsoft just released PowerToys v0.100.1, a patch update that addresses several stability and behavior issues found in v0.100.0. The v0.100.0 patch was a significant update for PowerToys, as it introduced all sorts of new features and additions, such as a rebuilt Shortcut Guide, a Command Palette Extension Gallery, webcam overlay support in ZoomIt, and more. However, the v0.100.0 version also introduced some bugs and stability issues. And now, Microsoft is addressing these issues in the new patch. The most impactful fix in this release perhaps is in Keyboard Manager, where remapped modifier keys were being delivered as system-key events, causing unexpected behavior in apps. The clearest example of this was Alt-to-Backspace remaps, deleting whole words instead of a single character. So, if you thought there was an issue with your keyboard, Microsoft just confirmed that it was PowerToys. Beyond the Keyboard Manager fix, v0.100.1 also addresses several other issues. It fixes a bug with Power Display that was preventing monitors from waking from standby correctly. Additionally, the new update patches Quick Access crashes on launch, and resolves a Shortcut Guide crash that occurred when switching between sidebar sections. Here’s the full changelog: Color Picker Fixed a bug where the main Color Picker window could appear inside the zoomed-in picker view Command Palette Fixed Run history initialization in AOT builds Fixed a bug where the Performance Monitor dock item could show ??? after restart Fixed the Hibernate command using the Sleep icon Limited the "pin to dock" dialog to displays where the dock is enabled Keyboard Manager Fixed modifier keys remapped to non-modifier keys being delivered as system-key events, which caused unexpected behavior in apps such as Alt-to-Backspace deleting whole words Power Display Fixed a bug where selecting On in the monitor power-state control did not wake a monitor from standby Fixed built-in display detection and brightness control on dual-GPU laptops where the internal panel is driven by the discrete GPU PowerToys Run Fixed VS Code Workspaces discovery after VS Code moved recently opened workspace data to shared storage Quick Access Fixed Quick Access flyout crashes caused by unhandled XAML exceptions during launch or page navigation Shortcut Guide Fixed a crash when navigating between Shortcut Guide sidebar sections Fixed number-key rendering in shortcut manifests and added a Postman shortcut manifest Updated bundled shortcut manifests to use the literal number-key token so number keys render correctly across apps ZoomIt Fixed a race condition in audio initialization for ZoomIt video recording You can download PowerToys v0.100.1 from the official GitHub releases page.

    • Grand Theft Auto VI pricing revealed alongside Ultimate Edition and pre-loading details by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Last week, Rockstar revealed Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders will be starting soon, and just a day ahead of that, now the studio has announced the official pricing for the highly anticipated game. This has been a hotly debated topic among fans and industry veterans for a long time, considering the game is expected to be the biggest entertainment product launch ever. The confirmed pricing for the Grand Theft Auto VI standard edition is $79.99, which Rockstar says gives access to the "single-player experience set in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet." This follows what most of our readers thought would happen with the pricing too. At the same time, a $99.99 Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition has been confirmed as well, which lands with "an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story." Pre-ordering will also give fans extra bonuses, including a Vintage Vice City Pack of cosmetic items as well as a free month of GTA+. Head to the official website of the game here to check out all the cosmetic rewards the Ultimate Edition and pre-orders bring. Interestingly, the studio does not mention Grand Theft Auto VI multiplayer at all in today's announcement. Perhaps this will arrive later, following the campaign launch, or the studio is keeping that reveal for a later date. Digital pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI will begin on June 25, 2026, at midnight local time across regions for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The title is slated to launch on November 19 on those same platforms. Pre-loading for Grand Theft Auto VI will kick off on November 12, giving players a week to get the game ready on their consoles. As for the physical edition, Take-Two has confirmed that this will be available without a disc, with the box only containing a download code inside. This will be purchasable starting November 12, giving players who take this route time to pre-load the title as well.
