Xbox 360 Fall Update

Recommended Posts

I'm hoping for a decent mod so the we can get some Open Source software in the console... I loved XBMC and I want it for XBOX 360.

MS previusly have stated that they support the developement of XBMC like apps for the 360 in relation to comments on XNA. I don't think XNA allows enough access to the grpahics card or to the network yet though, but they also said they where working on openign these up so XBMC and other apps would be possible.

haven't heard aymore aboutt hat since XNA was released and they talked about that though.

I'd like:

The video marketplace to launch internationally, have 16:10 support, be able to watch divx and xvid movies from a burnt disc/external device and the ability to copy media from an external device/cd to the internal hard drive.

can we please get the option that if someone sends a message, and that message display screen pops up while in the game, if we hit the guide button it will auto play the message in our headset...its so annoying when someone sends you a message and you dont want to stop, bring up the guide, listen to it, then close it all back down....it takes to long if your in the middle of a game!

Yea thats a good idea. When someone sends a message instead of hitting the Guide Button and having the Guide pop up when you get the notification, it should just play the message once, and then if you want to go back to it or replay it you can then bring up the Guide like normal.

But what happens when the message is a text?

I'd like more stability for the guide, it's forever hanging and freezing for ages and I end up having to restart the console. Sometimes it's just when i do somethign simple like views my friends list, the blade just goes blank and hangs forever!

Very annoying, the message option sounds good too though :)

I wish you could disable certain notifications from popping up. For example, I don't need to know every time one of my friends logs on, but what I do need a notification to pop up for is if a friend sends me a message or an invite or something. I know you can turn off notifications from popping up all together, but I would like to be able to filter for only message notifications.

Both good suggestions guys ^. The guide does need fixing as it's been like that for a while now.

And Magik I agree, I've often wished we could select which ones popup and which ones to disable. Quite annoying when someone has network issues or is updating games etc :p (we're all guilty of it ;) )

They released a list of changes for the Spring update a week or so before release.

They did? :s My mistake then :p We don't usually get a complete list of all the changes until the update is out and Xbox.com gets updated. We usually just hear of what to expect in the update, which so far has stayed true (Xbox downloads announcement).

    • A coalition of publishers sued OpenAI and Microsoft over scraping content without consent by Hamid Ganji Image via Depositphotos.com AI companies often rely on readily available internet content to train their chatbots and provide users with instant answers. This method of AI training is fast and relatively inexpensive, but using a website’s content without permission or compensation is not something publishers like to see, and this is exactly why Microsoft and OpenAI are now being sued. As reported by Bloomberg, a group of publishers that collectively own nearly 400 newspapers has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and Microsoft. The coalition argues that the two companies scraped their content to build AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Copilot without paying any compensation. The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, argues that while AI products have generated billions of dollars in market value using publishers’ work, none of that value has been shared with the publishers. The plaintiffs are seeking statutory damages and injunctive relief for alleged copyright infringement and violations of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. “Defendants systematically and secretly crawled the Publishers’ websites—including content behind paywalls and other access restrictions—and copied the Publishers’ articles, stories, and other original works onto their own servers without authorization,” the complaint states. The publishers also described the AI boom as a “death knell for local journalism” if AI companies that scrape content for free are not held accountable. Former New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin and his law firm, Platkin LLP, are representing the publishers. “Our models empower innovation, are trained on publicly available data, and are grounded in fair use,” OpenAI spokesperson Drew Pusateri told Bloomberg. This is not the first lawsuit involving the unauthorized use of publishers’ content by AI firms, but it is one of the largest coalitions ever formed against the free use of content by AI chatbots. In 2024, OpenAI and Microsoft also faced a similar lawsuit from eight newspapers that claimed AI products were benefiting from their content without permission.
