UPDATE: NBC is ordering six more episodes of "Chuck" from Warner Bros.

This could mean the show will return early, though an open time slot has not yet presented itself.

That's in addition to the 13 already ordered.

The network has not yet confirmed but sources say this is a "done deal."

The original plan was for "Chuck" to return in March.

Now sources say "Chuck" will likely return in January and will be partnered with "Heroes" on Monday nights.

More to come, refresh for latest...

Also the season 2 dvd release date has moved up to early January (it was late February before). This points to a January return :)

Exclusive: I spy Robert Patrick on 'Chuck'

Fans of Chuck, prepare to be transported to Nerd-vana.

Following the casting of Quantum Leap?s Scott Bakula as Chuck?s dad, sources confirm to me exclusively that another sci-fi icon has been tapped for the show. Robert Patrick, a.k.a. the T-1000, is slated to appear midway through the third season.

But rather than coming from the future, Patrick will play Col. Keller, a mysterious figure from Casey?s past in ?Chuck Versus the Tic Tac,? which I hear will be a big episode for Adam Baldwin?s newly-minted colonel.

Sadly for all you Buy More shoppers, there?s still no definitive news on Chuck?s return date.

On the day we got the "Lost" season premiere date, we also find out that "Chuck" is returning in January.

The spy dramedy returns 9 p.m. ET on Sunday, Jan. 10, with two episodes. The show begins occupying its regular time slot, Mondays at 8 p.m. ET, on Jan. 11.

This is great news: NBC had been thinking about keeping the show on hold until March, so knowing that "Chuck" returns in January and "Lost" returns Feb. 2 -- well, is it me or is this winter heating up quite a bit?

I visited the set of "Chuck" on the first day of filming for Season 3 and the information I gleaned about the new season is here. My Comic-Con interview with co-creators Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak and star Zachary Levi is here. All my other "Chuck" stories are here.

Guest stars in the new season include Angie Harmon, Brandon Routh, Robert Patrick, Kristin Kreuk, Armande Assante, Steve Austin and Vinnie Jones.

An NBC source says the show will keep airing during the Olympics and won't take a break in order to avoid airing then.

NBC's press release on this delightful show's return is below.

'CHUCK' RETURNS TO NBC ON SUNDAY, JANUARY 10 WITH ALL-NEW MISSIONS AND ACTION-PACKED BACK-TO-BACK PREMIERE EPISODES BEFORE MOVING TO REGULAR DAY AND TIME (MONDAYS, 8-9 P.M. ET) BEGINNING JANUARY 11

'CHUCK' GUEST STARS INCLUDE ANGIE HARMON, BRANDON ROUTH, ROBERT PATRICK, KRISTIN KREUK, ARMAND ASSANTE, STEVE AUSTIN AND VINNIE JONES

In Addition, Special Two-hour Episode of "Heroes" to Be Broadcast on Monday, January 4 (8-10 p.m. ET) Before Series Moves to Its New Time Slot of Mondays (9-10 p.m. ET) Starting January 11

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. ? November 19, 2009 ? NBC?s action-comedy series ?Chuck? returns to the NBC lineup on Sunday, January 10 with all-new missions and two action-packed, back-to-back original episodes in its season premiere (9-11 p.m. ET) before the series -- starring Zachary Levi in the title role -- moves to its regular day and time (Mondays 8-9 p.m. ET) beginning January 11.

In addition, "Chuck" returns with guest stars galore in its third season. These include: Angie Harmon (NBC?s ?Law & Order?), who will play Sydney, an enemy operative; Brandon Routh (?Superman Returns?), who is set to play CIA Agent Daniel Shaw; Robert Patrick (?Terminator 2: Judgment Day?) will play Colonel Keller, a soldier and spy from Casey?s past; Kristin Kreuk (?Smallville?), who will portray Hannah -- a potential love interest for Chuck; Armand Assante (?Judge Dredd?) as dictator Premier Goya, who is the target of an assassin; Steve Austin (?WWE Smackdown!?) will portray Hugo Panzer, who becomes entangled in Chuck?s first solo mission; and Vinnie Jones (?Snatch?) will play Carl Stromberg, an arms dealer.

yeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeye :p Can't wait for this

I know... kung fu :p

I only hope that the subway deal doesn't ruin the show, it was already jam packed full of product placements before so if they overdo it, it will totally detract from the show. I am well aware of the fact that we wouldn't even have the show anymore without it, so I can't complain to much. If it's something like Sarah's orangeorange store being changed into a subway then that's fine :p

    • Linux 7.1 arrives with an NTFS overhaul and major hardware performance boosts by Paul Hill The founder of the Linux kernel has just announced the availability of Linux 7.1. This is a stable version of the kernel that will now be tested by various Linux distributions before it is shipped to users through update managers. Some users, like those on Debian, for example, might not get it for a long time, if at all, while Fedora users can expect it in the near future. With Linux 7.1 out on time, the merge window for Linux 7.2 is now open, giving contributors the opportunity to send in major new features that have been waiting for the last two months. Torvalds warned that he is currently travelling and will be in another timezone, so timing for the merge window may be irregular due to timezone differences and limited internet access. Torvalds said that he has already fetched early pull requests to allow him to do some offline work, but the travel could still cause disruption. Right now, he is not planning to extend the release, but did consider it. He said he might later regret not extending, though. In terms of this last week of development for Linux 7.1, Torvalds said there were no major or alarming changes. This week consisted mostly of smaller driver updates to GPU, networking, and sound, networking fixes, trace tooling fixes, and misc minor fixes. The shortlog this week lists fixes for driver bugs, memory leaks, I/O and USB fixes, networking and RDMA fixes, DRM/graphics fixes, and tooling and verification improvements. Specific fixes include USB series heap-overflow and buffer overflow fixes, and multiple use-after-free, memory-leak, and refcount corrections across subsystems such as i2c, zram, gpio, and net. There are fixes for graphics drivers, including amdgpu, i915, and virtio, as well as hypervisor and virtualization tweaks affecting mshv, vmbus, and hyperv. According to Phoronix, anyone running Linux 7.1 should look out for the new NTFS driver, Intel FRED for improved performance on Panther Lake and future CPUs, faster graphics with Intel Arc Battlemage, and improvements for older AMD Radeon GPUs. If you are running Linux on your computer and everything is fine, then you don’t need to worry about updating to Linux 7.1 as a priority; just wait for it to be pushed to you. If you have tried Linux on hardware but it didn’t work properly, trying again with a distro that uses Linux 7.1 could cause Linux to work on your machine, thanks to the new hardware support.
