Soulja Boy -

I never liked this song, I don't get what is everyones' obsession with it. I like other rap, but not this song.

Exactly.

I see people like the Dance, but the lyrics, rapping is Awful!

Ludacris is 100x times better than this, I hope it's not where MOST of future raps go.

the whole song is bloody annoying.

Listen to production of DJ Hi Tek and listen to the lyrics of Talib Kweli. Soulja boy is a joke in all respects. No remix or anything is going to save this song from being an utter travesty to the music industry if you ask me.

Alot of things suck but i dont start a thread about them.

+1.

Different people like different music, that's the way it is. One (or a lot more, apparently) person saying that Soulja Boy sucks isn't going to help anything really.

My opinion though, yeah, it's not very good. Neither is most mainstream rap nowadays :p

I know that a lot of people love this song, but I really don't like it, or didn't at least, for Obvious reasons (No, it's Not Rap sucks).

But Soulja Boy Sucks!! Soulja Boy is one of the Worst songs in Rap history, how could SO MANY people like it that much?!?

So, what you guys think of Soulja boy, and the Hot song?

Any of you actually a fan?

If you Agree Soulja boy sucks, give this thread 5 stars!!

Look on iTunes his album got rated 2 stars. Thats only because few rated 5 and the rest did 1.

His lyrics don't even make sense. They are very pointless.

Almost all rap nowadays is not tolerable, it's all a gimic. Since the dying of boybands and girl popstars, there has been a huge inflation of rap clones that all look alike, sound alike and have the name boy/lil'/yung in their name to give the impression that they are fresh. I'm a long time hiphop fan, i go way back with what i listen to in terms of hiphop and rap and it really is sad to hear and see all the nonsense that is filling our airwaves. The kids listen to it because it's catchy and because in their generation there really is nothing better being played on the radio. Radio's fail to play Talib or mos def or even nas to a certain point. And things like BET and MTV only make the issue worse.

Now i don't know how many of you actually have been listening to hiphop for a long time but i made a comment on my blog the other day about how things have changed. I was a big fan of gangsta rap, not that i condone violence of any sort but it more about the feeling of listening to something different, fresh or cutting edge. I was listening to music the other day and came across Eazy E - Real M'fn G'z, and it made me think that while listening to it, not only was the production top notch but the lyrics gave you a feeling that these are some serious dudes, now whether you like gangsta rap or not, the point i'm getting at is that whether it was a song like that Eazy song or whether it was a laid back song like Ghostface Killa - All that i got iz you, it left you with a feeling that the subject matter was real and it meant something, but nowadays nothing you hear is believable. I can't think of one rapper that i can believe these days, whether they are talking about guns or talking about how they grew up, i just don't believe it.

Now for the people saying that this Soulja boy song is about dancing or partying, that's nonsense as well. The kids may buy that, but i sure don't. If it were simply about making people dance, there are much better ways to achieve this other than having the same corny music, same stupid looking rapper singing the same dumbass lyrics. It's pure marketing, and it's killing an entire genre IMO. Do you really think it's a dance that people were actually doing, or do you think it was just some retarded moves that were put together to market this song as a dance craze. I mean seriously, if Janet or Michael jackson had put a label on every new dance they did in every video, it would have gotten old really quick, thus they wouldn't have been around for long. So rather then longevity being an option for any up and coming rap artist, record labels choose to give them a 1 hit gimic so that they bring in the big bucks and send the guy packing.

basically what this all means is the listener loses, the artist loses and record labels makes a quick buck.

I took a excerpt:

♫ Soulja Boy Off In This Hoe

Watch Me Lean And Watch Me Rock

Super Man Dat Hoe

Then Watch Me Crank Dat Robocop

Super Fresh, Now Watch Me Jock

Jocking On Them Haterz Man

When I Do Dat Soulja Boy

I Lean To The Left And Crank Dat Dance ♫

Sweet Lord Jesus, that makes no sense.

WTF does it mean to "super soak" someone?

What does it even mean to scream YOOOOOUUUUU YYOOOUUUUU YOOOOOUUUU in the first place.

It's weird. I'm starting to think there is some truth to the rumor that music execs have a program that can analyze a song to determine if it has certain characteristics that would made it a potential hit in the mainstream. I can understand that people like the dance: it's not too complex and having a bunch of friends doing the same dance together can be fun, I'll admit -- but after my 4-year-old was trying to repeat the song after hearing it just once on the radio (and she rarely, if ever, does that), I have to say that the music execs are on to something.

Hell, I laughed my ass off after the first time I heard the song, but now I don't even really mind this song when it comes on. I'd hate to sound like a geek (as if I wasn't posting this on Neowin), but I'd love to see a scientific study on why certain songs - especially ones like this that make no sense - find a huge audience. It could be a great step in understanding how the human brain functions.

Hey hey hey guys, lets not worry about SouljaBoy right now, lets focus on something cool like Bentley Green!

For a 5-year old, this kid is extremely talented. I was really impressed by his songs for the Dallas Maverics and Cowboys. :)

Who does that?

This kinda music make people look retarded, can't believe Beyonce like it.

I really hope they don't ask this guy to perform on Super Bowl or anything... would be a Major insult!!
