Firefox 3.0 Beta 3

I doubt it... They already have alot of it done. They wouldn't make half the icons ect.. then just drop it. Mabye just a certain part of it that hasn't been done yet?

Here is the vista UI so far (I used the Usercrhome found here to get the icons to show)

I wish they'd implement the aero interface to the UI more, a la IE. I don't like the blue stuff (and I know it's on more applications that Firefox, I'm just saying.

Like I said before, you're turning this whole Home button issue into something it's not. Some people will like it in the bookmarks toolbar, some will like where it's always been before they moved it.

Exactly.

where can i get a zip version instead of installing???

It's not a zip version, but you can install Firefox Portable Beta 3 independent of your current Firefox installation. That's why I'm using right now.

That was supposed to read, "That's what I'm using right now."

I've got most of my extensions working, thanks to compatible versions and MR Tech Toolkit (previously MR Tech Local Install):

Damn, Firefox still has problems with grabbing keyboard focus (for scrolling especially), even when the mouse scroll works.

Often (but not always), I find that a page wont scroll using the keyboard until I click in the window (even though it should be in focus). Had this issue since FF2 I reckon.

Like I said before, you're turning this whole Home button issue into something it's not. Some people will like it in the bookmarks toolbar, some will like where it's always been before they moved it.
Sure, that's why it's customizable, which is something I have no problem with. However, I do believe that where it is with this beta 3 is an objectively better default placement, for the reasons I've stated before.
You're being pretty immature about this whole thing and it's more than annoying.

This is all because you can't stand the fact that someone doesn't agree with your OPINION. You can tell by all the posts you've made that you can't stand when someone says you're wrong.

No. If I've seemed annoyed, it's because I can't stand it when someone purposely misrepresents what I've stated in order to avoid bringing their own logic to the table. The fact that Ayepecks has done this in every conversation I've had with him, somewhat heightens my annoyance.
You have your opinion and others have theirs. Get over it. This is probably the dumbest argument I've seen on Neowin. Like I said before, the fact it was moved doesn't even bother me, I can just move it back to where I PREFER it to be because in my OPINION it makes more sense to keep it in the original place. Stop acting like the world will end because people don't agree with you.
You see, interface design is something I have an interest in. I actually entered this conversation with the hope that you could show me your reason as to why you prefer it where you do, and to give you reasons as to why it has been moved. After all, you originally stated:
Why is the Home button located in the bookmarks toolbar now? That doesn't really make any sense.
...and I hope I have at least shown you that there is sense as to why.

That fact that you've gotten all offended and think that I don't respect your ability to have an opinion, and Ayepecks' obnoxious straw man arguments have, I agree, made this argument really dumb.

I thought it was odd to have the home page on the bookmarks folder as well, but I just opened up the customise window and dragged it back up. Never thought twice about it after that, so I don't see why anyone is making a big deal out of it.

LMFAO! You slay me, shakey_snake. Please learn what a straw man argument is... you were the one who went off on a tangent and overemphasized someone's dislike for the new Home button placement. That would make your argument a straw man argument. Maybe you should look up what a straw man argument is next time :) Please look at my original posts in the topic -- all terse, all reiterating my point. All you did was ignore what I said and made up your mind as to what I said. I will repeat again: you have the straw man argument.

Looking at your very last post is kind of damning as well, as you yet again do the same thing. ;) It's really getting annoying how you always say I use a "straw man argument," yet that is clearly your doing.

Alas, shakey_snake... never willing to admit your own fault. I more than admit I got carried away with the argument, but to insinuate you had nothing to do with all of this is ludicrous. Please, learn to take some responsibility for your actions.

(I think if you go through and re-read the entire thread... every single post... you'll be surprised. :))

I just want to point out that I was never offended by anything that guy ever said. All I did was point out how he can't stand when people don't agree with him and that he's been completely disrespecting anyone that doesn't share his opinion. In his mind he's right and everyone else who thinks different is wrong. How's that not disrespecting people? In his mind his opinions are fact, anyone who has a different opinion is wrong.

You need to stop taking things I've said and twisting them around. I never let the fact that the Home button moved bother me anywhere near as much as you're making it out. Like I said before, it's not going to kill me to drag it to where I PREFER it. I installed it, closed the bookmarks toolbar and a few minutes later realized the Home button was gone. I saw someone on here say they moved it to the bookmarks toolbar. I went and put the Home button back. I never got mad or whined. I said "In my OPINION it doesn't make sense to have it there". Then you came in and felt the need to go after anyone who didn't like the change. You were the one who got this ridiculous argument going. Be an adult and end it.

I've seen other posts of yours and you seem to enjoy getting arguments started and dragging it out. You've also done this in the Firefox 3 drops Vista look thread. You drag out the arguments because you can't stand seeing people not agree with you. You can't just drop it and move on like an adult and respect their opinion. You want to keep it going because you need to get the last word in. You're acting very childish over this entire thing. Not me or anyone else, it's all you.

I'll be the adult here and make this my last post in this thread. I'm also putting you on ignore so I never have to see another of your posts again. If I don't, I'll eventually say something to get me warned or banned because you have no respect for the opinions of others and I can't stand people like that.

How hard is it to say "Well that's your opinon and I can respect that"? There's no need to go hunting down link after link trying to find stuff to back-up anything you say. That's just a waste of your own time.

@Pc_Madness

Just tried that site, Play button is working fine. PS, the vid isn't as good as you'd think!

Another problem that still exists in this version of FF is that you can whitelist popup sites, but can't add a site to the popup filter... (You only get the 'Exceptions' button, not a 'Block popups from these sites' button. Popup filter gets most popups, but the odd one still makes it through.

I would just like to remind people who have "forced extensions to work" by disabling the extension version compatibility check (using MR Tech Toolkit, Nightly Tester Tools, or about:config settings) that you leave yourself open to hanging, crashing, hitching, dataloss, memory leaks and other undesirable behaviour.

Whilst disabling the checks will force extensions to run, it's not guaranteed they will work as expected, so if you find your Firefox doing strange things then please don't start spouting off about how rubbish Firefox is and how it's always going wrong.. in such cases this is your fault for making extensions run on a version of Firefox the extension author hasn't intended.

And for people who recommend such ways to get round the extension version check, please also take a moment to inform the person you're talking to about the possible side-effects. The check is not there to needlessly annoy people, it's there for a good reason, and disabling it should be done with due consideration and awareness.

Thanks!

Yep, I forced the Web Developer Toolbar to run, and it ran in a state where i couldn't hide any of the toolbars it would show, and it would get stuck in a few modes.

Just wait until the extension get updated (a few (like Greasemonkey and StumbleUpon) have already been updated)

On the subject of extensions, I'm using adblock plus which when choosing the option "Adblock Image", it either hangs/comes up slowly, or when it comes up with the dialog, it doesn't automatically insert the URL. But I'm not blaming FF, just talking about the extension which seems to be broken (even though it's supposed to be compatible).

Odd, it's working fine for me =\

Try the latest Adblock Plus dev build. For those who use Tab Mix Plus, a new dev build that is compatible with 3.0b4pre was put up today.

    • Poll: Grand Theft Auto VI price predictions, cast your vote by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe After years of waiting, Rockstar will be solidifying the launch date of Grand Theft Auto VI with the launch of pre-orders next week. While the studio has confirmed a date for this occasion, it is yet to attach a price to the highly anticipated game. So let's see what our readers think it will cost at launch. The Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders will kick off on June 25 for digital and physical editions. Unless some last-minute changes happen, the release date will be November 19, 2026, across Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, there's still no information about a PC version from the developer or the publisher Take-Two. Now the question becomes, how much will Grand Theft Auto VI cost at launch? The game is predicted by some analysts to be the biggest launch of an entertainment product ever. With the amount of hype that has been built behind it and with ballooning development costs, Take-Two may price this Grand Theft Auto entry differently from other AAA titles. The current price of a AAA game is $69.99. That norm almost rose to $79.99 before calming down. But with such a massive release, Grand Theft Auto VI may be the game that pushes the boundary again. It's also possible that Take-Two keeps the price relatively low to increase the number of players that jump in early and keep them hooked on Grand Theft Auto Online to spend on microtransactions for years to come. Keep in mind that the below poll is asking for a prediction of the standard edition price, not a deluxe or any other special edition that Take-Two will introduce for additional benefits. Also, there is the chance of the company splitting up the campaign and online portions. If you think that will happen, put your vote on what you think will be the total cost of the two.
