The Sony or the Samsung?

Recommended Posts

I know how many of these threads there are etc. but when it comes to spending a fair bit of money on a new tv for myself I want to be certain of my choice :)

So in short, having little knowledge of the tech behind the TVs, i need a hand. Which would you pick out of these?

Sony - http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronic.../-/Product.html

Samsung - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/128473/show_product_overview

Thanks in advance!

For sound I'm planning on connecting my speakers to it so that shouldn't be a problem :)

But it's still good to know!

Samsung, no doubt. One of my mates owns that exact Samsung model, and I own the same TV but a prior model, so it looks slightly different. Awesome TV. You even get a cloth to clean it because it's so shiny :D

Since everyone is saying Samsung I am just gonna go ahead and say Sony

I like the design better - not too fond of the curves on that Samsung

Specifications wise? Dont know - have you seen both of them in action?

Agreed. I would have said Sony also, but wait....get the Sony! Much cheaper and I think it also does 1080i.

Im pretty sure they both ACCEPT a 1080i signal

But their native resolution is 720p

I think I read comment saying that an LCD cant produce a 1080i image

Well after a little more searching my choice has changed to these:

http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronic...searchsource=0#

That which is apparantly the best 26" LCD you can currently buy (though a little pricey)

and

http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronic...earchtype=genre

Which is apparantly ALMOST as good, and ?60 cheaper...

hmm....

Yep you all said Samsung to the original two, which is right, and the samsung is still a contender here, i didnt mention that in my previous post sorry, but these two were also optionsnow, because they both got extremely good reviews. No wanting to rush (but still wanting it soon :p) I'm just considering all options, which I have now confidently narrowed to those 3.
