ECW DEAD! :D

According to a reliable source, World Wrestling Entertainment plans to put the ECW brand to rest once and for all in the near future as I noted earlier here on the website. WWE officials have had several meetings with the Syfy network about re-branding WWE?s Tuesday night show.

Both sides are in agreement that WWE?s version of ECW has been a bust and plans are already being made for a new weekly series. While several ideas have been tossed around (including a magazine-style recap show), right now it appears that WWE wants to make the new Tuesday night brand a ?WWE minor league? and feature young up-and-coming stars.

WWE relaunched the ECW brand back in 2006 after the undeniable success of the ?Rise and Fall of ECW? DVD set and later the ECW One Night Stand Pay-Per-View events. After ECW was relaunched as a brand, it quickly became apparent that WWE had no intention of keeping the elements that made the original ECW special and turned ECW into a watered-down, generic ?C? show.

While it may be bittersweet to see the ECW letters go, ECW has been dead for a long time and a brand featuring primarily young stars sounds like it has potential.

Not sure it's true:

WWE's annual Tribute to the Troops event was held today with Rajah.com reader Trooperh sending in the following note: "During the tribute to the troops taping earlier today, Cena did a promo with Sheamus and said when "I [Cena] get my rematch".... Neither came down with the belt, but, since the tribute show airs 6 days after the PPV, it seems like they may be foreshadowing that Sheamus is going to win at the PPV."

Former WWE star Umaga hospitalized Edward Fatu, 36, is hospitalized in Houston and in what was described as life threatening condition by a long-time friend.

Details are sketchy at this point but he apparently fell asleep last night while watching television, and several hours later, his wife found him not breathing with blood coming out of his nose and he was rushed to the hospital.

I just read this on NODQ.com - oh man, I feel so awful for always hating this guy. R.I.P. :/

While it hasn't been confirmed that he has in fact died, it's still just unbelievable. It's like the curse of wrestling never stops.

If he has passed away, RIP Eddie.

it's on WWE.com would they post false news

from wrestlezone.com

Derrick Wyatt sent along the following:

My name is Derrick Wyatt, i am a long time fan of the site and have submitted info before. I'm currently stationed here at Joint Base Balad, Iraq where the WWE came and did their annual "Tribute to the Troops" christmas special today, Dec 4th, at noon. Here is a quick rundown of what happened:

'Un-aired'

Cryme time came out first, not a match, just to thank us for what we do/kind words and got the crowd warmed up.

Soldiers sung the national anthem.

MVP defeated Chris Masters

'Televised'

Video/Song Promo

Rey Mysterio and Mark Henry defeated Carlito and CM Punk. (both pinned simultaneously) *after the match, rey mysterio jumped from the ropes into the crowd.

Then Mark Henry faked doing the same. Very entertaining opening bout start to finish.

Video/Song Promo

R-Truth was this years Santa...coming out with all the divas, passing out shirts, belts, calanders etc. Divas were VERY hot in the sexy santa outfits.

The Miz defeated John Morrison (pinned with feet on the ropes/ref didn't see it....non-titles bout)

John Cena defeated Chris Jericho (*wwe championship bout*...Cena was the very obvious crowd favorite)

After the match, Cena spoke with the crowd for a couple minutes and then called all the stars back out...some come out that didnt perform such as finley.

-Show Ends-

After the shows end, many of the wrestlers came into the crowd for pictures and autographs for about 20 minutes but we were then rushed to leave so they could clean up and there was going to be a photo/autograph op at 4pm. Shortly after 3, we're told the time was changed to 6pm. They did show up at 6, but we were then informed they literally had to be on the plane in about 2 hours, so there was NO autographs and only 1 group photo shot with your camera if you had one. This was the only time I seen Vince...he didn't come out during the show. In the days prior, the wrestlers were seen eating in the dfac/chow halls, shopping at the px's(post exchanges) and taking the regular tour of the base. I was able to meet Chris Masters and Carlito, who talked/laughed and joked with me and my platoon for a good half hour.

so, as for Cena dropping the title [as mentioned in spoiler tags in a previous post]. unfortunately he won't be doing such a thing :-(

Ah well I don't usually check WWE.com for news. :(

I do when it comes to deaths because they will confirm it because sometimes we could be told something (Piper having days to live for example) and then for it to be BS

I'm debating whether to merge the thread about the death of Eddie into here, but I'd rather not because it is prominent enough for its own thread and for a seperate discussion. For now though, I will just link to the thread in here, if anybody wishes to comment on the death in there: https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=852238

I still cannot believe it :(

That is so sad that he is gone. Even though no one liked him that much it is still sad to see him gone now. May the samoan bulldozer RIP.

I liked him when he went under the Jamal name. I loved 3-minute Warning :p
