Arsenal's Eduardo Leg Break !

clearly you have know nothing about hockey either. Fighting is so respected in hockey it's ridiculous. Fighting prevents cheap shots. And yeah just because not every fight is like a heavy weight boxing fight. Honestly, soccer players, especially european ones are a bunch of girls. They embellish nearly EVERYTHING (not the english ones usually, they are pretty good). The amount of diving is ridiculous, it's just embrassing to watch a spanish or portuguese game (ronaldo especially, as good as he is, he is a little girl that dives like crazy).

You hardly even addressed my points. It doesn't fit into the game, it wouldn't work and I don't see how anything can come from it. Your comment was regarding two completely different sports. If you think the officials should be stricter then fair enough but fight's like in hockey clearly don't have any place in football.

I'm not defending him by any means as it was a bad play but it does not seem intentional from the looks of it. It was just bad timing where Eduardo's foot was planted in the ground where he received the shock. If it wasn't, his ankle probably wouldn't have broke.

Sorry but that is wrong. It was nothing to do with timing. You are not supposed to tackle a player with a locked leg and studs out at any time, even if he had missed Eduardo's leg it would have still been extremely dangerous. The fact that Eduardo is coming in Taylor's direction as well is what made this so horrendous.

If you look at the replays Taylor has his leg bent. He then straightens it as Eduardo arrives and that is dangerous play. Taylor should take responsibility for his actions. What he did was dangerous, he knowingly did it and he may have ended a young player's career.

Personally I think he should be banned for as long as Eduardo is injured.

that's what i'm saying. to me there isn't much to defend, the tackle was no where near as late as most late tackles ever, which is one of the main reasons for the injury.

As I said before intentional or not a player who does that assumes the risk to cause a serious injury in someone else.

The ball was in the ground (rolling in the field). Taylor's foot was in the air. For me the math here is simple. :(

his foot was around 1" off the ground till where his leg was straight and then went up due to the "kicking" motion at the ball, see this image just after eduardo got the ball:

you can't get much closer to making the tackle than that.

whether or not it was intentional is up for debate, and it no matter what the outcome of the debate, that was a reckless challenge. Most of the time a challenge like this does not result in a serious injury, but when it does the perpetrator must take responsibility, and I dont mean just getting sent off. It's the same thing as reckless driving, most of the time you get away with it... but it happens once and off to prison you go.

tackles like this are so commonplace now that people think it's normal, we see week in week out teams hacking down the arsenal players, and in that same match birmingham match the players were still kicking our players and the didnt even get a yellow.... martin taylor going in with studs up was just asking for trouble, and steve bruce has the audacity to say "it doesnt even warrant a yellow card". Bollocks.

and please, "sliding on the ground"?? Take a look at the video/pic, you call that sliding on the ground?

point 1. that wasn't a reckless tackle, he didnt jump at the player or go with much force

point 2. players are always getting little kicks in football, better players kicked more due to quicker movement. i dont remember man utd players kicking you that much in the fa cup, more the other way around but i assume you wengers eye syndrome too

point 3. steve bruce didn't say the yellow card thing, he said 'Some would say it is not even a yellow card.', two different things.

Arsenal hope Croatian striker Eduardo will make a full recovery from his horrific leg break in nine months.

The 25-year-old suffered a fractured left fibula and an open dislocation of his left ankle in a challenge with Birmingham's Martin Taylor on Saturday.

Eduardo will have his leg in plaster for the next six to eight weeks before beginning a rehabilitation programme.

Arsenal say the Croatia international, signed for ?7.5m in 2007, should be running again in six months.

9 Months:||

"some would say it's not even a yellow" means steve bruce thinks it's debatable whether that tackle even warrants a yellow card.

if an Arsenal player did that and he get a 15-match ban, I wouldn't like it naturally but I'm not to say it's undeserved. I've been critisizing Eboue all season because of his attitude.

The foot came in at eduardo's shin, that's reckless.

Not too sure about this new image.

It seems to directly contradict this earlier one

I.e in the first one Taylor's foot is on the ground and Eduardo's is above his. Taylor's leg is also bent. How is the second picture completely different? Also why all the fuzzy glow?

This is extremely dangerous play. I'll say it again. In football you are not allowed to tackle towards a player with studs out and a locked leg. Particularly if he is coming towards you. The reason for this? To prevent exactly what happened to Eduardo.

9m seems about right but I reckon could be a year.

Unfortunately Eduardo suffered a double compound fracture in the worst and post painful part of the leg. I've had a single not quite compound (nearly had to have surgery to set it) fracture to one bone in the the same place and I can tell you that was bloody painful. I can't even imagine how awful this is for him.

no i agree, the first picture doesn't look right...

Ah I hadn't seen the Monday story only the Sunday one which said it was a double compound.

I'm still amazed at the number of people (mangers, pundits etc) who think this wasn't even a red card. A shin high tackle with studs out and a locked leg. Even if he missed Eduardo I've seen people sent of for those kind of challenges.

Fair enough I think it wasn't intentional but it was still dangerous. "I didn't mean to do it" is no defence in a law case why should it be in sport?

Not too sure about this new image.

the image i posted was taken directly from the video on youtube that was recorded off the slow-mo replay on match of the day

video available here http://localhostr.com/files/ec195a/eduardo.flv (warning, you can see the injury fully)

  • 2 weeks later...
Possibly a career ending injury. I hope this is properly investigated and Taylor punished.

That is a nasty remark.

Taylor didn't mean it. He did apologise to him and all and even met Eduardo in the hospital. Man Taylor looked shocked on the pitch.

Anyways, Eduardo will be back, although probably 9 months later.

It seems the poor lad is recieving a lot of death threats from Croatian fans.

Before the interview, the reporter had to agree not to ask anything about Martin Taylor. The only thing Dudu said was that Taylor did not visit him in the hospital to offer an apology, like some papers reported

    • Media Player Classic - Home Cinema 2.7.2 by Razvan Serea Media Player Classic - Home Cinema (MPC-HC) is a free and open-source video and audio player for Windows. MPC-HC is based on the original Guliverkli project (which is no longer maintained) and contains many additional features and bug fixes. As the continuation of the original Media Player Classic, MPC-HC isn’t flashy but it works with nearly any media format. MPC-HC uses DXVA technology to pass decoding operations to your modern video card, enhancing your viewing experience. And MPC-HC supports both physical and software DVDs with menus, chapter navigation, and subtitles. Overview of features A lot of people seem to be unaware of some of the awesome features that have been added to MPC-HC in the past years. Here is a list of useful options and features that everyone should know about: Dark interface Menu > View > Dark Theme When using dark theme it is also possible to change the height of the seekbar and size of the toolbar buttons. Options > Advanced Video preview on the seekbar Options > Tweaks > Show preview on seek bar Adjust playback speed Menu > Play > Playback rate The buttons in the player that control playback rate take a 2x step by default. This can be customized to smaller values (like 10%): Options > Playback > Speed step Adjusting playback speed works best with the internal audio renderer. This also has automatic pitch correction. Options > Playback > Output > Audio Renderer MPC-HC can remember playback position, so you can resume from that point later Options > Player > History You can quickly seek through a video with Ctrl + Mouse Scrollwheel. You can jump to next/previous file in a folder by pressing PageUp/PageDown. You can perform automatic actions at end of file. For example to go to next file or close player. Options > Playback > After Playback (permanent setting) Menu > Play > After Playback (for current file only) A-B repeat - You can loop a segment of a video. Press [ and ] to set start and stop markers. You can rotate/flip/mirror/stretch/zoom the video Menu > View > Pan&Scan This is also easily done with hotkeys (see below). There are lots of keyboard hotkeys and mouse actions to control the player. They can be customized as well. Options > Player > Keys Tip: there is a search box above the table. You can stream videos directly from Youtube and many other video websites You can stream videos directly from Youtube and many other video websites Put yt-dlp.exe or youtube-dl.exe in the MPC-HC installation folder. Then you can open website URLs in the player: Menu > File > Open File/URL You can even download those videos: Menu > File > Save a copy Tip: to be able to download in best quality with yt-dlp/youtube-dl, it is recommended to also put ffmpeg.exe in the MPC-HC folder. Several YDL configuration options are found here: Options > Advanced This includes an option to specify the location of the .exe in case you don't want to put it in MPC-HC folder. Play HDR video This requires using madVR or MPC Video Renderer. After installation these renderers can be selected here: Options > Playback > Output Ability to search for and download subtitles, either automatically or manually (press D): Options > Subtitles > Misc Besides all these (new) features, there have also been many bugfixes and internal improvements in the player in the past years that give better performance and stability. It also has updated internal codecs. Support was added for CUE sheets, WebVTT subtitles, etc. Media Player Classic - Home Cinema 2.7.2 changelog: Updated LAV Filters to version 0.81-23-g6fadb Updated MPC Video Renderer to version 0.10.2.2540 Updated MediaInfo DLL to version 26.05 Updated MPC Audio Renderer Several crash fixes, bug fixes and small improvements. • No problems here using the new Outlook. In our company we started to default installing to users on new computers or when we're reimaging. But, if the user needs/ask for the classic one, we install it. Low reject rate at this point.
    • Yeah it's my only home/business computer. The Surface Pen magnetic Storage is on the left side, but it doesn't charge the Pen. I do the charging once every 6+ months by interchanging between 2 rechargeable AAAA batteries and charging the other via a USB A battery charger.
    • I have NO problem restricting minors having access to apps. Personally, I'd like to see the restriction extend to smartphones too, but that should be the parents anyway. But on the restrictions ? GOOD LUCK enforcing that. Between VPN's, side loading and what not, I'm sure kids will find a way around it.
