Guess you guys could just not control yourselves and did not understand that there should be no talk about playing the game before it was released.

When I have the time to go through it all tomorrow, plenty of warnings are going to be handed out.

On top of that, to the members who continuously broke the rules and talked about it not just once but several times, those people are going to be getting a minimum of a one week time restriction from posting in the Gamers Hangout at all.

This will give you all the chance to visit the forums who do allow talking about piracy, because obviously you do not get the fact that we do not allow that here.

Way to go people.

I just stopped by this thread, but I'm not sure why discussion of the game before release is prohibited? The stores broke their street date and it's not member's fault to have a discussion about it? Besides there are plenty of videos about the game available out there...

If it's about piracy then ignore this post.

DL stated that there was to be no discussion when he last cleaned the thread, so what people did was use spoiler tags to get around it.

/sigh

I guess Neowin is ****ting themselves about getting sued from R*

I think I'm going to go to tesco tonight at 11.30 and try to snag it before 12 when everyone turns up.

I'm also popping into Asda shortly to see if anyone there might sell it me early.

I can't think of anything more ridiculous than stocking a game that you cant sell for another 24hours, stupid red tape imho.

hmpf, not so sure it's fair to breakout the banhammer on everyone, some may have just received the game early via the post or broken street dates. I'd say that anyone talking about it < Weds/Thursday pirated it tho, unless they received a press copy, so in that case it's probably fair.

Anyways, I'm not sure I ever mentioned it but I really love Amazon, I ordered my standard copy on the 8th April and the other day they posted saying that anyone that ordered that day or afterwards would probably not receive it until after may 3rd. I just checked my amazon order page this morning and it's already been posted and as I'm an amazon prime member I should receive it tomorrow anyway :bounce:

I've had mine ordered from Amazon since April 1st 2007. My order says "Dispatching Soon". If it isn't dispatched today, they'll be recieving some angry calls.

Im sorry DirtyLarry but im going to have to pick up some points in that posted.

On top of that, to the members who continuously broke the rules and talked about it not just once but several times, those people are going to be getting a minimum of a one week time restriction from posting in the Gamers Hangout at all.

I have talked about the game, about missions and i have even streamed live footage of the game.

Now what i will say is that, discussion of the game once the pirated version was released was inevitable, but even more so once people reported recieving retail copies, and retailers broke street dates across the country in England.

I recieved a legitimate, retail copy. Now if Neowin see it fit to ban me for a week, for using a legitimate copy which i purchased with my cash, from a retailer who was willing to sell it to me, i do not see how i could have possibly breached any rules, on top of that, those of us who have talked about the game, extended the courtesy of using spoiler tags for those who wished for in-game details to remain a secret until they finally got the game.

I believe those of us who have spoken about the game, have been reasonable and fair.

The fact that the game is not officially released, makes no difference at all, as far as the retailler i got mine from, they were happy to release it not just to me but to a few others also.

Even though i recieved a DMCA notice from Take-Two regarding my GTA IV Stream over justin.tv/hamsterxk i still believe that the reason it was allowed to continue for the 3 days it was online, was because it recieved over 15,000 views and people who have watched it have said that it has motivated them to go and purchase the game! due to Rockstar's official trailer being "jumpy and stuttery" the in-game footage I and others provided is actually going to sell more copies of the game.

    • We have disabled advertising in the forums for now for an undetermined period. If you feel like you get a lot of value out of the site please do whitelist ads on the news articles, and/or consider getting a subscription, we offer two tiers, one at: $14 per year (support the site for just over a dollar a month) or the $28/year tier (just over $2/month) that disables advertising and affiliate link tracking throughout the site (so also on the news side). We also have a 'Buy us a coffee' page if you just want to make a one-time donation. I am not mincing words when I say it is becoming harder and harder to monetize publications like Neowin, it's a fact of life that when we can no longer afford to pay for everything we'll go like many other sites already have. It doesn't have to cost you anything There are other ways to support Neowin too, like posting on topic content in the forums (technical support/questions/helping others) and sharing our news articles.. this costs nothing but your time and is just as important as subscribing or making a monetary donation! Anyway thanks for your time and continued support of Neowin. Now in our 26th year, and hopefully many more! For all the lurkers out there that whitelist us, make a free member account, and see fewer (only inline) ads on the news side

It now looks like the same product, not a separate dashboard. Pairing is one tap and zero typing: the generated WebUI password is now copyable, and the QR code carries the credentials — scanning it from your phone logs straight in (no typing the IP or password), then drops the credentials from the address bar. Search Two new providers: RuTor (CIS sources, no login, via a public TorAPI relay) and Torrents-CSV. Results are sorted by seeders (healthiest first), and each search now times out after 15 s so one dead provider can't hang the UI. Files & trackers Per-file priority is back: right-click a file in the detail panel to set Skip / Low / Normal / High. Rename an individual file inside a torrent (double-click or the file menu), separate from renaming the torrent. Remove a tracker from a torrent (the ✕ on a tracker row); adding was already there. Smart Paste on Ctrl+V — paste a magnet, a 40-char info-hash, or a .torrent URL straight from the clipboard and it's added immediately (text fields still paste text normally). Covers & titles Anime fansub naming ([Group] Title - NN) now resolves to the right show. Audio channel layouts in titles (DDP5.1, 7.1, …) are stripped so they don't pollute cover matching. Under the hood The legacy QWidget interface is gone. QML had been the only UI since 3.0.0 (reachable old code lived behind a hidden --legacy flag); with parity confirmed, the entire QWidget layer — main window, every dialog, the theme manager — was removed (~13,400 lines). The four restored actions above were features that backend already supported but the QML port had never wired. macOS: the WebUI password hash moved out of the keychain into app settings, so launching the app no longer pops a login-keychain password prompt on unsigned builds. The actual password still lives in the keychain. Cleanup: ~400 orphaned translation strings and a batch of dead code removed; internal duplication collapsed; an ARCHITECTURE.md added for contributors. Unit / security / memory tests and the ASan/UBSan/TSan sanitizers stay green. • How about a global switch to turn the awful things off instead of a registry hack? Then everyone wins.
    • This doesn't strike me as so shocking when... " IT admins do have some control over this rollout. If they choose to opt out, devices in their tenant won't automatically get the dreaded Copilot app"
