Aussie GTA IV Censorship Update

Australia, April 27, 2008 - After having played the Australian Xbox 360 box copy thoroughly we're happy to report that the " minor differences" Rockstar admitted were made to pass classification haven't made any impact to the GTA experience that our seasoned eyes can spot.

The infamous act of picking up hookers in your car remains intact in the Australian version. This was the most likely cut to be made to appease the OFLC and the fact that it hasn't been made indicates that the actual change must be very minor indeed.

Fans of the raunchier side of GTA can also breath easily upon hearing that strip clubs, complete with private lap dances are also completely accessible and intact in the Aussie version. Other potential items for the cutting room floor were getting drunk and being able to then drive while drunk, but both of these options are still present.

Our best guess is that something has been trimmed from a cut-scene. So, although we can't say for sure what has been cut, we would urge people planning on boycotting the Aussie version to reassess their plans. Considering hookers, lap dances and drink driving have all sailed through you're very unlikely to even notice, let alone miss, whatever was snipped.

They just can't steal cars anymore! They have to politely negotiate with the driver as to why they need to temporarily borrow their car to smuggle drugs, or evade the police. After insurance companies have been informed and details exchanged, you're good to go!

My local ASDA is open 24 hours, i think ill go there tonight and try and pick up a copy. I just hope they haven't started selling it early, and that it isnt busy there.. >.<

Edit: any idea how much it will be there? The website says ?40, but i dont know if that is an online price only or what.

One more day :)

One thing i'm wondering is; in free-roam mode, could you go to the bowling alley, darts, etc and play together in there or will we have to have separate alleys. No reviews have mentioned that from what i can see. They say in free roam mode you can do everything apart from the missions.

Shameful bump of my post, but it got pushed back two pages due to multiple useless posts.

heh, Im not that eager, and I dont have a preorder, Im hoping Ill be able to pick one up off the shelves.

BTW, you know these midnight openings, are the stores open from midnight for like 2 hours or something, or do they just stay open all through the early hours?

      Thanks to some of the other recent Windows improvements, I'm optimistic about this one. My quick wishlist would be: perf like the older menu, merge both menus or at the very least, the older menu should be a flyout, not a simulated click to the old menu, and lastly, a customization window to let users move items from one menu to another, so I could bring Send To back to the main menu, and the OneDrive settings to the older.

      They used AI based TOOLS to convert the JavaScript engine (the main rendering engine is still C++) and it was not fully automated but was human reviewed. Other subsystems will be looked into to also be converted to Rust in the future. I have no problem with any of that.
