And, not surprisingly, it seems influenced more by Bill Gates than George Jetson. The PC, powered by Microsoft's operating system, will deliver personalized entertainment, unified communications and control to consumers, according to the software giant's eHome Division. Though such PC-centric visions have been touted in the past, the new Windows XP operating system will make such dreams a reality, said Mike Toutonghi, vice president of the eHome division. EHomes, which was formed in March under the Windows Platforms Group and New Media Platforms Division, has been collecting responses from focus groups on what is most desired by consumers, Toutonghi said. "They want more personal communications. They want simpler communications. They want their communications to be integrated across their different devices," he said. kawai Posted November 27, 2001 Share Posted November 27, 2001 I rather believe that fact that the overall computing experience will envolve around the server, that's right, the server. You buy a server, just like a fridge from future shop, with high speed internet connected right to it. You will have your monitor with the connection to the server, same thing goes for everything in your home. in fact, we have the technology to do that, that's the only way to everything together.
