Personally, I don't. It takes 20 seconds to redraw Aero in Vista after playing games such as Half-Life 2: Episode Two and Crysis for an hour or two and I always take that as a sign that I need more RAM.

It depends what you do. For gaming in Vista you probably need at least one more Gig. Vista is a real memory hog.

For XP 2GB are more than enough. I have 2GB on Win XP and it works perfect.

It all depends on the work you are doing on your PC.

No! 2GB has not been enough for me! The other day I was making a 8.5x11 600 DPI layout in photoshop, and with just two canvases of this size in use, I ran out of memory! I got the layout done by um... well by closing Fireworks. That was using like 400 MB of my memory too. It wasn't really a problem.

I'm thinking to moving to 64 bit Vista and getting 4GB Ram to start.

3-4 GB ram has its uses, esp. if you're doing graphical stuff.

for xp 2GB is enough(Even 1GB but if you game more is better) but for vista the more you feed it the better it is,like 2-3GB on vista 32 bit and 4GB+on vista x64,the main reason vista will use more is indeed because of superfetch and actualy putting ur ram to good use instead of sitting there doing nothing,going past 3GB-3.5GB on 32bit is pointless as you cant actualy use it even though it shows it,if vista has a good video card with plenty of memory(At least 256MB)it will fly,it actualy runs good on my 6600 256MB.

I just upgraded from 2gb vista32 to 4gb vista64 and it feels so much more snappier and more responsive (although that might just be because of the new vista install). It also nice and quiet as the hard drive isnt thrashing nearly as much!

I have 2GB on my Vista laptop. It's definitely enough for nearly everyone. Even with pagefile disabled, I generally never go over 1.5GB. I mean, obviously people will always want more but I truly believe 2GB is enough at this time for just about everyone with very few exceptions.

I still think 2 GB is fine for now. At the end of the year, I might bump up to 4, but I really don't do much hardcore gaming anymore. I'm already running Vista x64, so it would (hopefully) be a simple transition.

I'm looking to up my RAM from 2GB to 4-6GB soon. For desktop / gaming usage 2GB is plenty adequate but for loading audio samples in Cubase it is lacking - one of the sampled instruments I have is 87GB just for a single piano (the collection itself it around 250GB and comes on 36 DVDs), so the more RAM I have the less disk streaming there is. So unless you have a specific need for more than 2GB of RAM, which few people do, I would say it is unnecessary.

Maybe the fault lies with that 90% filled, 5400rpm HDD you're using.
