Gran Turismo 5 Prologue

Incase some of you didn't know this,

On the button assignments you can choose something called Left/Right View,

My current config is

L2 -brake R2 -accelerate

Right stick UP/DOWN -shift up/down

Right stick Left/Right -Left/Right View

Shifting works fine for me without it disturbing the Left/Right View when using in car view.

I didn't know you could look about in the car!

Only knew you could look behind you.

me neither, its bloody annoying.

i've cleared cache, changed upnp type, and more... most i've got is around 3/4 - then fail!

would connecting it directly, instead of wirelessly even make a difference (based on download speed it shouldnt...)

I've heard that the update should take a matter of minutes if working correctly.

If it's taking ages, it's more than likely going to fail.

I really don't understand what's the problem, unless GT5P pulls out sales of millions, it surely can't still be congestion.

I wonder if the update comes from Sony Japan, and if the store work is causing issues as well? Surely not though, as the store itself works fine just now...

edit: It's updating just now (bar progress about 1/4), but it will more than likely fail again :pinch:

edit2: This is worth a go... (my ps3 is setup on a static IP though, so this probably wouldn't help me)

erm one thing you could try is to change the time out options on ur router as well, the thing is with wireless if times out it will give you new ip address, same will happen wired, but change time out options to a lot longer than currently set, then change back to normal once update works.

what settings do you currently have it on?

i'm gonna try it out now.

edit: i dont think its timing out on my end, as there is no consistency to how long it downloads for. the other day it got half way then just stopped. i left it for an our, but still at half way so cancelled.

I'm really not sure settings matter, I think it's just luck.

Right now it's on UNPN 1 (or w/e the network setting is)

I've tried it on 2 as well.

Lot's of people say don't update when the game launches, update from news icon/clear cache/reboot system/ect - I think it's just luck though.

I'm on wireless as well, I have my PS3 on a static IP, and DMZ setup for that IP (basically every port is open for my PS3's IP).

This is how I got it to work.

1. boot up GT:P

2. refuse the update

3. turn off PS3

4. turn on PS3

5. boot up GT:P

6. refuse update

7. click on GT:TV and accept the update.

Don't ask why, but it worked.

Again, I think it's just luck/timing.

Most of those things if you ask me are quite trivial in relation to downloading something from a server.

I'll give it a go...

By the way, my update failed again at around 35% :pinch:

remember its actually resuming it, i just kept clicking on gt:tv and accepting the update (refuse the main one) and it'll do it eventually :p

It starts from the beginning for me.

Unless you call the % bar starting from scratch "resuming" :p

It's making progress again after trying popisdead uk's "method". Going slowly, but lets see if it works!

I'm on 8MB ADSL MAX with ADSL24.

you say that, but ive been to half way about 3 times without clearing the cache. so, go figure.

edit:so far today, its refused to download anything at all.

i doubt the update comes to close to maxing your connection out, and yes it progress bar starts from 0 but it resumes it as the time it actually updated took <1min for me when it failed numerous times over 5mins each

Ahh fair points.

Might explain why houltys update seemingly went instant - Pretty much all of it had been downloaded!

    • You're absolutely right! No reason in hell these should be on the road!
    • They aren't going to want to. Most would just go with the 17 Pro and save money. Why would they want to spend $300 for basically the same thing? It's not worth it if there are hardly any changes from year to year.
    • 24H2 rolled out to the Release Preview Channel in early June 2024, so this coming a bit later in the Experimental Channel (formerly Dev) doesn't really say much more than earlier H2 releases that came out in October. I am not sure what the thinking is here by putting it in Experimental, one would think that the 26H2 stamp means features are locked down and it's now bug tested until October? I don't even pretend to understand Microsoft's strategy for Windows Insider Program though
