National Hockey League 2007-08 Stanley Cup Playoffs

Completely a Goal, watched it in super slow motion and there is no way that you could say that puck, with the momentum it had, wasn't clearly over the line by the time Biron had his mitt over it. :p

Good steal for the Goalie!

I would love to see a Pittsburgh vs. Detroit Stanley Cup Final.

Battle of the puck possession teams.

Crosby Malkin Hossa vs. Datsyuk Zetterberg and Holmstrom?!

Oh my, are you meaning an actual cup round that has the two best teams competing? Isn't there a rule against that in the NHL? ;)

I'm so sick of these small/no market teams in the cup round, I mean who really cares about the Ducks? (What a name seriously, the Ducks...I always end up substituting one letter in that name... ;))

Give us two classic teams in the cup round and then we can actually feel like Hockey Fans again, at the end of the series the fans can shake each others hands and give thanks for a hell of a series instead of feeling strangely unfulfilled.

And the Pens can finish off a great season with the cup.

The Detroit Red Wings pulled to within one victory of a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals with their ninth straight win in the playoffs on Monday night. Pavel Datsyuk notched a hat trick and Chris Osgood made 16 saves in a 5-2 win over the Dallas Stars. ...

LETS GO RED WINGS!

I really don't want to see Philly win their series, and from the looks of things it's two teams bent on fulfilling a Destiny going to the cup this year.

Now what letter would you that be...? haha I hate them too. (Btw, cool name and location)

Go Wings! I don't really like any of the other teams, but I do like the wings. Always have. My third favourite team. Just wish I could watch hockey and not listen to it. I don't know which team has the puck when they only same the name of the player...

I wonder! ;)

Good to see another Wings fan around, too many haters. ;)

Hockey on the Radio is something that it takes an acquired taste to get use to, I know the roster of the Wings by heart so I can follow it just as easily as TV myself but that took me a while to build up to. :)

Well, good to know I've got another person to celebrate with when the Wings bring Stanley Home to Hockeytown!

Even though you like the team I don't, it makes me happy to see/hear hockey fans in the States :D

It is sad the state of Hockey in the US, people would rather watch foosball (Football) or basket weaving (Basketball) than a good old fashion hockey game. :(

Oh, Joel...just for you my friend. ;)

I agree. I don't see how any other sport comes close to the speed and excitement of hockey. Basketball puts me to sleep, and football may be enjoyable to watch with a bunch of friends, but it's not very exciting as a game. Baseball... don't even talk to me about baseball.

I like baseball for the strategy (which of course means only the NL, as the AL is a yawn-fest).

A picture does not a hockey town make. Talk to me about a town rich in hockey history.

Detroit has been dubbed Hockeytown since the 20s, it's a national and internationally recognized statement and also a Registered Trademark of Ilitch Holdings. Many places would like to consider themselves Hockeytown, however, there is only one Hockeytown, USA and that is Detroit, Michigan. :)

You want to argue that Minnesota has a rich hockey heritage, they do indeed. The North Stars, and later the Wild plus all the college and amature leagues. however you have to consider that since the 20's the Detroit Red Wings have been there, no teams have left and had to regain their spot in Detroit as the North Stars did in 1993. Additionally the North Star organization was founded in the (LATE) 60s', DECADES after Hockeytown was founded.

In addition, allow me to point out the following years... 1935?36, 1936?37, 1942?43, 1949?50, 1951?52, 1953?54, 1954?55, 1996?97, 1997?98, 2001?02. Now tell me, which American Hockey Team has won the cup the most times?

Now I'm sure somewhere in Canada there is a Hockeytown, Canada and you don't see Red Wings fans complaining abo:) that now do you? :)

Still challenging the rights to Hockeytown?

Hockey is not about the nationality of the team, it's about the accomplishments.

And unfortunately, the hockey hall of fame is in Toronto. They're second place overall in Cups won, and somehow that qualifies them for the hall.

I don't necessarily agree with your thought that Hockey isn't about the nationality of the teams. However if you want to look at accomplishments how can you discount what the Red Wings have accomplished in their history?

Lets look at the Original Six...

  • Montreal Canadiens (Founded 1909, charter member of NHL in 1917)
  • Toronto Maple Leafs (original Toronto franchise was charter member in 1917, and was renamed Maple Leafs in 1927)
  • Boston Bruins (Founded 1924)
  • New York Rangers (Founded 1925)
  • Detroit Red Wings (Founded 1926)
  • Chicago Blackhawks (Founded 1926, known as the "Black Hawks" throughout the period)

Aside from the Chicago Blackhawks, the Red Wings are one of the youngest of the Original Six Teams yet they rank number 3 out of all teams for the most Stanley Cups won. Given their age gap between Montreal or even Toronto I think that speaks to the passion, intensity, and skill presented by the Detroit teams throughout the ages.

17 years between the Wings and the Canadiens, and 9 years between the Wings and the Canadiens. Now lets look at cup totals.

As of the start of the 2007-2007 Season, Montreal has won 24 Cups, Toronto has won 13, and Detroit has won 10. That means in the 17 year difference between the Wings and the Canadiens they have won the cup 14 times more and for Toronto only 3 times in 9 years.

Running the percentages there is beyond my limited math skills but to me that simply shows a better average of winning the cup favoring Detroit over any other team in the NHL, period. (If I'm wrong on my amateur math, please point it out. :))

Hmmm...A way to tested my math skills...lol by my horrible math...the habs have a higher %. My math

2007 - Year they were formed / number of cups

(ex 2007 - 1917 / 24)

Habs win it every 3.75 years

Leafs every 6.9 years

Wings every 8.1 years

Noe: My math is bad, I don't use much anymore, so I could be wrong. And I'm not saying who is/isn't hockey town. I was bored. I have already said I want the Red Wings to win. Though had been hoping for a Habs vs Wings cup game...

    • Honestly that feels even more useless than it did when Win11 was first released. In 2021, the uproar was somewhat justified, but only when comparing how good we've had it since Windows 7. Prior to that, a new Windows release would often require new, or very recent hardware. Windows XP wouldn't run (in any usable way) on hardware released when it's predecessor Win98 was released (let's ignore ME). It was time to shift the goal post, and the way Microsoft did that was actually ok. People have still had another FIVE YEARS of free software support with Windows 10, and those of us who want to have used these tools to bypass the limitations, all while understanding the impacts that may have. Most laptops don't last 5 years (sadly), so now the youngest unsupported hardware is 9 years old, and apparently has another year of support with Windows 10. That's good. Meanwhile, understanding the impacts and limitations, I have my 2013 laptop running Win11 perfectly fine. The thing that's failing on it is the hardware, the 2.5" SATA cable/chip is failing and corrupting the SSDs I put in. Thankfully it has a functional M.2 sata drive that works fine!
    • iPhone 18 Pro drop-test video and photos leak on the dark web following a data breach by Hamid Ganji iPhone 17 Pro - Image via Apple Apple is seemingly facing one of the biggest data breaches in its history, and just a few months before the official debut of the iPhone 18 Pro series, photos, a drop-test video, a supplier list, and key phone components have reportedly been leaked by hackers. Last week, we reported that Tata Electronics, an Apple supplier and iPhone producer in India, was hit by a data breach. As a result, it was reported that more than 200,000 trade secrets and confidential documents belonging to Apple and Tesla were stolen by the ransomware group World Leaks. According to Reuters, the group has now leaked supplier lists, component details, and photos of the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models on the dark web. One of the materials leaked by the hackers is a drop-test video of the iPhone 18 Pro, which is due to launch this September. The phone is shown in a gray color and has the same familiar design we saw on last year's iPhone 17 Pro series. The device also appears to be quite durable, though it seems to be thicker than last year's model. One possible explanation is that Apple may be using a larger battery in the iPhone 18 Pro series. Moreover, Reuters says it has seen at least six documents mapping many components in the iPhone 18 Pro models to their respective suppliers, including details on chips on the main circuit board and on battery and camera components. The documents reportedly detail hundreds of parts that will be used in the iPhone 18 Pro models. A person familiar with the matter told the outlet that Apple classifies this data as sensitive and “is concerned about the documents being shared on the dark web as they relate to unreleased models.” Apple is reportedly investigating the issue but has yet to issue an official statement.
    • You do you, I've just said that it first appeared in "home" version before it will be available in "work" one. I use Edge only because it still supports MV2 uBO extension even on Android - I'll switch when they stop.
    • I imagine that was a review or something? My reviews mostly contain a lot of images and galleries, but these are all webp too, but yeah it all adds up on the page load. Would help if you were more helpful with your critique instead of bitching and moaning like a Karen 😂 Because then we might be able to fix it for you.
    • If Valve refused to let them make the case, I wonder if they've already partnered with someone else to do it? The fact that they didn't seek permission/licence before diving straight in is incredible though
