Trackmania Nations Forever

I'm having an issue. Its at "100% Ready" But doesn't Launch. I can get to the Little Menu, I click "play" and it looks like a window is trying to open up, But closes instantly. Nothing happens, Tried restarting steam too. Any thoughts?

Wikipedia says the Steam version of TrackMania United doesnt have StarForce and TrackMania United's starforce wasnt a driver like the eariler TrackMania games but built in the executable to check the key. If its the same as 'Forever' then that doesnt sound that bad.

Well, since StarForce is a CD/DVD-check protection, and Steam does'nt use CD/DVD's... one can only assume they have removed it :p

the game is sooo good for it being free. the only thing that's annoying is that it has this whole ranking system but it doesn't save your single player progress to your account so if you move computers you have to start all over again :(

the original trackmania nations doesn't use CD/DVDs yet came with starforce so that point is mute

This one does not have them. Well, so far no website is reporting anything about SF with Forever.

It does save it to a file called Username.Scores.gbx so next time you move computers you can copy that file across. One of the extra features of TMUF is that you can set official times which saves your best time and ghost to your online account and you can also earn coppers and skillpoints by setting good times.

By the way, how can I find the Author's time for the tracks?

It hides them until you beat the author time or unlock the Nadeo ghosts. I can't remember exactly how you unlock the ghosts but its something to do with earning certain gold medals.

Solved my problem! It appears I was missing d3dx9_30.dll. I downloaded it from DLL-Files, popped it in TMNF's folder, and now the game works fine. :)

Downloading Via Steam. I found it hard to find, but I have found the link for it and it is located here. :)

I just wish that Steam allowed me to insert the CD key of my retail TM United box though (Preorded it ages ago) so I can have the Steam version of that too. I am downloading the patch of TMUF now though.

Is anyone using the Xbox 360 controller for this game? I can set accelerate to the trigger buttons but it seems that it won't let you set brake to a trigger button :/

And there is no cycle camera view button so I can't assign that to the controller either :/

Anyone know of any solutions?

umm i can't remember if i had this problem but anyway to fix that would be to use the XBCD drivers for the 360 controller and set the triggers to seperate axis.

Yep, when I try to run the .exe manually I get an error message saying that file is missing.
