Trackmania Nations Forever

Recommended Posts

Totally awesome game, especially considering it is free. Some of the tracks people come up with are INSANE. I'd just like to know, how can people complete some of the tracks like 3x faster than I can? Do they get faster cars or something? Do you have to use those credit things they have to buy new stuff like an engine or an actual car?

Either way, anyone can add me in game also, nick is lordloc. :)

Nope, nothing like that I believe. All the vehicles perform exactly the same as each other.

They're just better than you ;).

There are loads of things to consider when driving this game.

If anyone wants to add me to Steam friends or the buddy list in-game add "Harreh" :).

This has got to be the best free game(mods\conversions included) since Splash Damage released Enemy Territory for free a few years back. This game is awesome and it looks fantastic :)

Quick question though has anyone managed to figure out how to customize the keyboard controls? I would rather use WASD then the arrow keys :/

yeah on the main menu click on profile and then click in input. there you can change the buttons.

I don't think it let me join that server.. I dunno what happened. When I actually got into a server the game just kept on yelling at me about poor performance which really annoyed me more than the poor performance. So I just gave up. Plus my internet is really quite iffy (Phoned BT, and the help desk person reported that there was a problem with the line to the engineers..!)

I get fine performance in solo play, might have to turn AA off though.

Is anyone using the Xbox 360 controller for this game? I can set accelerate to the trigger buttons but it seems that it won't let you set brake to a trigger button :/

And there is no cycle camera view button so I can't assign that to the controller either :/

Anyone know of any solutions?

I'm using a 360 controller and after setting the right trigger button for accelerate it automatically sets the left trigger for braking.

The camera views can be assigned to a button, they start at the bottom of page 2 on the input controls, I set mine - X - Camera 1, A - Camera 2 and B - Camera 3.

I'll be hosting a server throughout the day if anyone is looking to join, if you cant get in straight away then please keep trying, the server limit will be 25 with 20 racers and 5 spectators

The server name will be www.binarysquadron.tk

Harreh i saw you coming and going last night in the server, why does it give you take error message about performance?

I'll be there, Xero! I've got a college assignment to finish, so I might be some time. Are you gonna be there?

yea i'll be there, if you cant find the server look under the west midlands area, not really sure how the server browser works though, but its 2:05pm now and the server will be up for a good few hours now.

Check the Binary Forums for the TeamSpeak server address

Xero, thanks for setting up the Binary Squadron server yesterday! Brilliant fun there!

BTW, I'm loving some of the 200+ player servers I've found! Look in France and Germany on the main pages, and you'll find monstrous servers! I'd recommend the French servers, especially the Nadeo ones! I went on one last night with 240 players!!! If you finish high (top 40 at least), it's easy LP!

I haven't played TrackMania since it was first released! Having a Mac for ages has meant I have not been able to play for ages, but today I got hold of a copy of Windows and installed BootCamp.

I have TM Nations Forever on download via Steam now! So will see you all online very soon!

umm i can't remember if i had this problem but anyway to fix that would be to use the XBCD drivers for the 360 controller and set the triggers to seperate axis.

Just get the profile from there, so you don't even have to set it yourself.

Thanks but for some reason it isn't seeing my controller when I load up XBCD to configure it :/

I'm running Vista 32 bit and I downloaded the beta installer.

ihad that issue as well, in the end i just went back to Microsofts drivers, should have remembered the saying 'if it aint broke, why fix it?'
