Trackmania Nations Forever

Is anyone using the Xbox 360 controller for this game? I can set accelerate to the trigger buttons but it seems that it won't let you set brake to a trigger button :/

And there is no cycle camera view button so I can't assign that to the controller either :/

Anyone know of any solutions?

if it's like it was in regular TMN assigning the right trigger to acclerate, the left trigger will be brake. no need for special drivers or separate asignments :)

I got this on steam a few days ago, fun game, can be frustrating at times when you cant get 1 corner right in order to get a gold medal. I haven't done any online gaming yet, too busy with TF2 :D

Gold medal? Try going for Nadeo medal. Finished all white except one really hard track, when you have to jump twice in a row to get a good speed.

i dont like the online version much. i played like 6 time trial maps, only finished 2 of them, and got REALLY frustrated with it.

I guess its coz i really dont like not being able to finish a challange.

im guessing this game will just sit there untill im really bored some day.

It is hard playing a racing game online with crappy internet. I have speeds of 256 down and 128 up. This means that I lag on the start, I also lag in every corner and whenever I need to do something really fast.

That is why I only play the solo maps. And I hope that people will not make hacks, cheats, trainers, bots for the game, that ruins the competitive play.

It might not just be your internet.

Due to the significant amount of vehicles on the tack in comparison to solo play (200 vs 2) your PC might slow down due to that. The bulit-in benchmarker is pretty good tbh.

You can press "O" To remove the other vehicles my friend told me, so that might help. It'd probably make it so you don't even download the locations of each vehicle, etc. Just upload yours which 128kbps should be capable of.

This game is just amazing, and its a steal to get it for free ( and the price tag on United Forever is awesome, as well.) It looks like a casual racing game on the surface, but when you get into its really hard core... taking the turns as tight as possible, controlling your car in the air, hitting jumps straight on, there are so many factors to consider to shave those last milliseconds off of your time to take 1st place... its really quite brillant. Oh yeah, and theres just endless content and a strong community to back it up. Its the perfect formula, and it looks like they finally dropped StarForce.

Yep, it is a good pick up and play game but for people who want to take it online and challenge for wins, you have to find the perfect lines through tracks and make up your own sneaky shortcuts. Shame i got no time to play it online at the moment, would really like to school some of you on it :p

When I turn ingame, I sometimes press on the left trigger on the XBOX 360 gamepad and the game menu pops up, making my car to stop completely. Very annoying when you're in a MP game. Is there some option menu I missed, where I can disable the left trigger button, and maybe change other button configurations?

edit: Never mind. Found the thing.

Should of dig deeper in the profile menu before posting :D

Yeah same here, this is one of the few racing games where i think the handling and controls are near perfect. You will slow down if you hit certain pads and also if you run along against the wall it will slow you down. It may look like you're just touching the wall but it slows you down pretty quickly.

I need to lower my settings slightly, i had it all on high with full AA and AF, at 1920x1200 and i played on a server with 60 players on it, it slowed down a bit and i was struggling to get round :p

Only another week and i will be able to get in to the game properly and start owning again.

Run the benchmarker. It's really good.

Also, try hitting "O" during an online match to remove the opponent's vehicles if you find that helps (I find it so distracting having them there..)

I've played this lots since it's release and it's just amazing. It's lead me to buy the United version which is going for ?5 in Game at the moment. And as you get the Forever as a free upgrade to United, that's saving me some monies. Steam is selling it for $40. 75% saved YAY.

Great game though, my ID is lex224 is anybody wishes to add me.

I now have a 24-7 dedicated server running for Trackmania Nations Forever, you can find it under United Kingdom - England - West Midlands, the server name is 'Binary Squadron' and features a selection of official and home made maps.

hope to see a few of you there

I went on there earlier but didn't last long as it wasn't time trials. I prefer to just keep going till the time runs out. I don't like having to wait for the round to end. Having not played Trackmania for about a year. I blooming suck now, i can only make the top 10 now on big servers.

    • NASA: This asteroid may not kill us but it probably won't be far off either by Sayan Sen Image by Zelch Csaba via Pexels New observations by NASA's James Webb Space Telescope have eliminated the last remaining impact threat posed by asteroid 2024 YR4, ruling out the possibility that the near-Earth object could strike the Moon in December 2032. NASA said observations collected by Webb on February 18 and 26, 2026, enabled scientists to refine the asteroid's orbit enough to "rule out a chance of lunar impact on Dec. 22, 2032." Instead, asteroid 2024 YR4 is now expected to pass the Moon at a distance of about 13,200 miles (21,200 km). The agency stressed that the update "reflects improved precision in our understanding of where the asteroid is expected to be in 2032 rather than a shift in its orbital path." The announcement closes a remarkable chapter in planetary defence that began in late 2024, when the approximately 60-metre-wide asteroid briefly became the most closely watched near-Earth object in the world. Discovered on December 27, 2024, by the ATLAS telescope in Chile, 2024 YR4 initially appeared to have a small chance of colliding with Earth on December 22, 2032. As astronomers gathered more observations, the impact probability briefly climbed to around 3%—the highest ever recorded for an asteroid of its size—before steadily falling as its orbit became better understood. By early 2025, international observations had ruled out any significant risk to Earth. However, astronomers were left with another possibility: a roughly 4% chance that the asteroid could instead strike the Moon. "The probability that asteroid 2024 YR4 will strike the Moon on 22 December 2032 is now approximately 4%," the European Space Agency (ESA) had said last year, noting that "there is a 96% chance that the asteroid will not impact the Moon." ESA said such an impact, while unlikely, would have presented an extraordinary scientific opportunity. "It is a very rare event for an asteroid this large to impact the Moon – and it is rarer still that we know about it in advance. The impact would likely be visible from Earth, and so scientists will be very excited by the prospect of observing and analysing it," said Richard Moissl, Head of ESA's Planetary Defence Office. "It would certainly leave a new crater on the surface. However, we wouldn't be able to accurately predict in advance how much material would be thrown into space, or whether any would reach Earth," he added. The asteroid also exposed an important blind spot in planetary defence. Because 2024 YR4 approached Earth from the direction of the Sun, it remained hidden from ground-based telescopes until after its closest approach. "We looked into how Neomir would have performed in this situation, and the simulations surprised even us," Moissl said. "Neomir would have detected asteroid 2024 YR4 about a month earlier than ground-based telescopes did. This would have given astronomers more time to study the asteroid's trajectory and allowed them to much sooner rule out any chance of Earth impact in 2032." He added, "As an infrared telescope, like Webb, Neomir would have also immediately given us a much better estimate for the asteroid's size, which is very important for assessing the significance of the hazard." The latest NASA observations underscore the value of space-based infrared telescopes in tracking faint asteroids. According to NASA, Webb made "among the faintest ever observations of an asteroid," extending the object's observational record by nearly eight months at a time when it had become too faint for other telescopes. That additional data allowed scientists to eliminate the remaining uncertainty surrounding its 2032 flyby. Although asteroid 2024 YR4 is now confirmed to pose no threat to either Earth or the Moon, scientists say its discovery remains one of the most significant real-world tests of the international planetary defence system, demonstrating how continued observations can rapidly transform an object once considered hazardous into one whose future path is known with high confidence. • Yup. Google is just scraping the entire internet for their own ad profits without sharing revenue with the sources. It's obviously stealing, but since these sites depend upon Google's search scraps to survive... As for me, I just stopped using Google for anything except Reddit searches. If Reddit's own search wasn't complete crapola, I'd never use Google search again.
    • I had a feeling this was coming. Picked up my first Mac ever last Saturday. Glad I did.
    • In a major surprise there is actually some good deals for the first time in years. At least for me.
