Microsoft looking into full acquisition of Facebook

What does Microsoft stand to gain by putting that much money into facebook? i mean how long until facebook becomes the next friendster? Seems the money would be better spent building the next MySpace/Facebook IMO.

I don't see the point. While popular as far as I am a aware alot of sites like these are a bit dead revenue wise as far as I recall. For the money that it costs to buy it I'm sure they can do better things.

Yeah I do not think it would be a bad thing either, but you know, people hate Microsoft, and Apple, and the United States...etc.

It's about buying the audience and name recognition. The only glue sticking the social networks together is that "everyone else" is on there. It's hard to move the masses even if you build the best thing since sliced bread.

Heck, look at how Google tried to make the next Youtube, and ended up just buying it.

Didn't they get released at very similar times?

I always thought that Google Video was better thought. Higher quality, no 10 min cap. No horrendous comments to read. There are comments but you have to click to view them. I actually like that.

I'm not too fussed about MS trying to buy Facebook though. I don't even use it, so whatever.
