High End Compact Wanted

I'm looking for a high end compact for my travels. I can't be doing with carrying my 40D with lenses/laptop where ever i go, so it'll be nice to have a compact with me. I was looking at the new Sigma DP1 but from reviews, it seems like it's failed at what it was supposed to do. The Canon G9 (sort of compact :p) looks like my best bet, am i right?

I would go with a PowerShot SD1100 IS. Hard to get smaller than an Elph. Although it is not High End.

yeah I'd say between Canon G9 and Nikon P5100. Both have their pros and cons.

The Leica M8 is clearly out of my range but how about the Leica D-LUX 3?
