I don't like user pictures. :(

Indeed. At first, I was against it but now I think it makes look much more cleaner. Oh, and since you ask for opinions on Blue SE, Capric0rn, it reminds me of the original XP Luna, but without the ugly green button :p .

Well, it's kinda Vista-ish in the mockup at the moment. There's also going to be green and orange text in the programs panel.

Now how is that possible?

I really like that shade of blue. :o

Also, about my shellstyle thingers... Well, I know I still haven't made Olive. I think I'm going to wait until Blue SE comes around, and get them both out of the way at the same time.

^What's so Tango about the current startbutton?

I'm not going to preview new things like the buttons etc. That would spoil the theme IMO.

@Yggdrasilly: You should release Olive whenever it's ready because I don't know how long Blue SE is going to take.

Sorry I should have specified; somewhere in this enormous thread a Tango icon set was posted as a way to replace the standard WE button

^I actually hated that button since it doesn't look anything like something for Watercolor Emico IMO. I'm also not going to use something from an Linux icon set in a theme that's based on a Windows beta theme. I'm trying to come up with a new icon for Watercolor Emico and a new start button design instead of a simple taskbar button.

Yeah, loving all the colors really. I alternate between them all the time. It's the only one I find as usable as em3's Element series for all the work I do on my lappy. Looking forward to the SE color - love the teaser.

I don't like the idea of using the squares as the start button. It's to simple for Watercolor Emico. The start button should have a logo for the icon, which is why I'm trying to come up with a new design for it.

I'm not sure if this is possible, but what about using the 'squares' as a divider between the start button and the rest of the taskbar? I don't know if you can do that, but it might look neat.

IMO that would put too much emphasis on the squares design. I say keep the squares on the titlebars and work something original into the start button. :)

^The Vista flag has been used enough times in other visual styles. Watercolor Emico should have it's own logo in the start button.

@Yggdrasilly: Just like what skelly831 said, the squares should be used in the captions and the captions only. I tried a mockup with the squares in the system tray and that didn't look good either.

    • No, "a great deal" for 32GB of DDR5 is $50, not $350.
    • Linux 7.1 stable launch looms as Linus Torvalds releases the final release candidate by Paul Hill Linus Torvalds has just released what’s expected to be the final release candidate of Linux 7.1, rc7. The Linux founder said that this RC is not small, but smaller than recent releases, which is a good sign because he expects the stable version to drop next week if things continue on this trajectory. Linux kernels see a merge window for the first two weeks of their life, where developers add new features, then there are about seven or eight weeks of release candidates before the stable version. Typically, there are seven release candidates, but if more time is needed, then an eighth release candidate is released too. This week’s RC’s biggest area of fixes was for GPUs, with networking just behind. Torvalds said that the rest of the release was “pretty random and spread out” with some architecture fixes, driver fixes, filesystem improvements, and build fixes for more unusual configs. In terms of specific pieces of hardware receiving improvements in this update, we had more AMD Zen6 models supported and fixes for AMD SDMA 7.1 and GFX11. Hardware that got improvements includes Lenovo laptops, HONOR laptops, and MSI laptops. Here are the changelogs for those: ASoC: amd: acp: Add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 15ASH11 Input: atkbd - add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Air 14 (83QK) Input: atkbd - skip deactivate for HONOR BCC-N's internal keyboard ASoC: amd: yc: Add MSI Raider A18 HX A9WJG to quirk table ASoC: amd: yc: Enable internal mic on MSI Bravo 17 C7VF When the stable Linux 7.1 is released, it will be up to distribution maintainers, such as Canonical and Red Hat, to release the update to their users via the update manager. Some versions of Linux will get it before others, and some will never get it at all. Fedora and Arch-based distros will be among the first to get it, though. If you don’t get it, the security fixes will be backported to your system’s kernel, so you won’t be at risk, but you won’t get newer hardware support, which is fine if your computer works now.
