Nikon D60 - If it can't focus, it wont take the shot?

Recommended Posts

Hello!

So my D60 is treating me well, I am learning about the functions well, however there are some shots where I want the shot either out of focus, or it is of a plan wall (so nothing to focus on) or sometimes I know the shot is actually in focus but my camera thinks it isnt, or so it seems.

What I am really asking I guess, is is this a setting in the camera, or just the way SLRs work?

Thanks

Set it to manual focus and enjoy :) you will control the focus by the focus ring on the lens, so you can focus/not focus on anything and the camera will take the picture whenever you press the shutter button.

I know on the Canon you can re-assign a button to be your focus, and your trigger button to do just that, trigger.

It allows you to focus with your thumb, and snap fast with your forefinger.

But doing so you can just snappy snap with or without your focus button pressed...

There should also be a button on the back that's like "AF-L" on it that you can press to lock in the focus for a picture, at least my D40 has something like that, don't have it with me to tell you exactly what it is but it should be right next to the viewfinder I would imagine.
