Another facepalm moment from John :p

jk! Please don't run me over in a boat again :( lol

You know what I was thinking earlier, how Battlefield has managed to get away with no complaints (at least very little from my p.o.v) about the lack of multiplayer modes. Let me explain..

When Shadowrun came out it only included 3 multiplayer modes: Attrition which is basically team deathmatch, Extraction (classic CTF) & Raid (one flag CTF). People b*tched for weeks and months how FASA screwed up and how it only included 9 (or was it 10 maps?). Battlefield launched with 1 mode and 8 maps (most of which use a lot of the same assets) and it's a hit :| Wtf?

I'm not saying Battlefield sucks, I love it, and I loved Shadowrun, but I just can't get my head around it. Of course BF BC has a single player mode but when it comes down to it, everyone buys it for multiplayer.

The real appeal of BF lies in the depth of playing different classes. If there were not different classes, it would not be okay for one MP game mode, but that adds a depth to it other titles just do not have really, even the ones that are classed based.

It has more or less always been this way, and always will be I think.

actually, if you look on every other battlefield/game forum, the majority of people out there hate battlefield because it's just one game mode. i was just on the mp yesterday and a kid was like "what other modes does this game have? oh this is the only one? I'm leaving now and putting COD4 back in."

I would say there are more battlefield haters (and when I say haters, I mean HATE-ers) out there than people who love it or people that are "meh" to it.

I think it's due to the openness of the maps and the gameplay.

Do you want to go on a killing spree, mimicking Deatmatch/Team Deatmatch, you can do that. Want to do an objective mode, go ahead. Want to have vehicular combat, sure thing.

So there's no real need for a massive amount of game-modes.

Like, I made pretty clear I'm not a big fan of that only game-mode whilst playing. But I don't mind because I can sneak around with mah' specialist and just kill people.

belgrath, you covered this thread with cheese ROFL

sethos, I totally agree. the current game mode is like 10 games in one, and every time I play the game I feel like I'm playing a totally different game. One reason is because it's the players that make the game what it is. They make it a totally different experience eveytime.

also, maybe I'm alone in this one, but at times I feel like I'm playing an RPG shooter (with no story that is)

Well Shadowrun had different classes (races) and then you could essentially build the rest of your choice with weapons, tech and magic. So in that sense there is a lot more options and variation than just selecting from weapons in BF.

The one thing I agree on is the open maps of BF and vehicles of course. Those were absent but don't really fit the universe of Shadowrun anyways.

But anyways, it was just a thought :p

daskl;fj sdao THIS THURSDAY!!!

From Kotaku:

Nice find! (Y) I'm definitely going to be playing Thursday night.

That guy in those trailers sort of reminds me of the "Toastie!" guy from MK2.

Think I'm going to stay with Support for a bit. I'm loving that M60.

@Munky, that was payback for running me over in the boat.

The one and only complaint I have with this game is that one shotgun (cannot remember the model), that takes you out with one shot. Other than that, I got nothing.

lol maybe if you didn't jump out before we landed on the beach :p

And yeah the SPAS12 (I think it's called that) takes you out in one shot. The NS2000 is really strong too, at close quarters it'll take you out in one shot, but will take two shots from 5 ~ 10 yards or greater.

Ok so which is it?

By the way, I have about 45 minutes to play. Either of you interested?

Yeah, I wont be on at all tonight.

While I try to do a little something educational each day, it usually fails. However I have dedicated Mondays as my definite educate myself night, as HBO has been featuring a new documentary every Monday @ 9PM for over a month and a half now, tonight being one called Baghdad High.

With moving intimacy, Baghdad High affords an unprecedented glimpse into the lives of ordinary Iraqis attempting to lead ordinary lives in extraordinary circumstances

I may actually hold off playing any BF completely until Thursday (probably not though), as the real gaming starts with the release of Conquest Mode anyway!!

Actually I will have SKATE tomorrow night, so that above sentence may hold some truth to it about waiting until Thursday, as Thursday my wife is also going out for dinner with some friends. So maybe some SKATE tomorrow night or Weds night munky & habnad?

    • draw.io Desktop 30.2.4 by Razvan Serea draw.io desktop is a downloadable security-first diagramming application that runs on Windows, MacOS and Linux. Creating diagrams in the desktop app doesn’t need an internet connection. This is useful when you are disconnected or when you must create diagrams in a highly secure environment, where data protection is of the utmost importance. When you use the draw.io desktop app, your diagrams will be stored on your local device. Because this is a stand-alone application, also designed to run offline, there are no interfaces to cloud storage platforms available. Of course, you can still store your diagrams in folders that are synchronised to your cloud storage if you wish. Easy-to-use diagram editor The draw.io apps work just like the office and drawing tools you are used to using. Drag and drop shapes from the shape libraries and drag to draw connectors between them. Drag connectors to add waypoints and set a precise shape and position, or let them reroute automatically. Double click and start typing to add a label to anything. Create tables and swimlane flows with a familiar tool. Style shapes and connectors with customisable palettes, sketch options, fonts and text formatting tools. Search for shapes, including in open-source icon libraries. Use our vast libraries of shapes and templates, organised into logical categories, to create a range of diagrams and infographics. Generate diagrams from text descriptions using our smart templates. Diagram faster with keyboard shortcuts. draw.io Desktop 30.2.4 changelog: Uses electron 42.4.1 Updates to draw.io core 30.2.4.
