Steam did one LONG hang at "Scanning for Steam games updates..." before starting the update.

It's topping out at 354 KB/sec off the Toronto Steam content server. Speed is jumping everywhere though.

I woke up late and it had already updated itself.

Also, if you're playing as a scout and getting killed by everybody and not killing anybody, it'd probably a good indication that you're playing the class wrong. The scouts main advantage is his speed, dodge stuff people, don't run back firing at a medic, run backwards, left and right and double jump, the needles won't hit you. The only thing you really have to be worried about is "insta-hit" weapons, i.e. normal bullets (no matter how fast you are, you can't doge those, they're instantaneous)

TF2 has been ruined now.

The stun ball is stupidly easy to be hit with at close range, and you can be dead before you even notice the scout has shot at you with the new gun. Couple that with the amount of scouts about, the game is no more :(

It's the same after every update. Everyone wants the new items. It'll settle down.

It's not really, when the heavy / pyro updates came out it only sucked due to the numbers which was always true if you came up against a team full of heavies / pyros. Now the scout can kill you easily on his own due to the stupidly easy to aim stun ball. The problem won't go away with decreasing number of scouts.

Um, couldn't disagree more. If he hits you with it you're not stunned very long, and the ball reload time is quite a while too.

These items don't seem to be game-changers to me. They're interesting. I don't think I'll use any of them to be honest, though, except maybe the energy drink one if I'm in a bind. The shotgun is interesting, but I prefer the default.

So far the only weapons I'm sticking with (unlockables) are: medic health gun, backburner, heavy sandwich.

I'm not talking about being killed by the ball, fact is scouts are killing people now before you can barely get to fighting them, it's almost as bad as a pyro getting crits and then air blasting you straight after. Unless things change, I have played my last TF2 game where I won't be messing about.
