As a career medic

I play medic too... but its not just about frustration... i think valve really f***ed up releasing a sniper/spy update together... they are both classes that are quite detached from the 'arena' and in excess they really kill the flow of a round, whereas pyro, medic, heavy, and scout lend themselves to more dynamic objective-driven gameplay

Any word from valve on them fixing this? Valve isn't known to keep in things that don't work well like this unlock update at the very least they should make it so you don't get duplicates and make the rate at which you find items be faster. I played for 3 hours and all I got was a second force a nature.

I'm out of town tonight and possibly tomorrow so I'm hoping Valve fixes this today and I can play on sunday and get my ambassador. They hype all this up for a week then punish the current players especially those who have all the unlockables prior to spy and sniper by giving us the same things. Also it's not even based on how well you do I was my teams top player 3 games in a row and had the most points on the whole server and I didn't get crud. We didn't even win either because people don't realize playing spy or sniper won't help you get them faster so I was basically playing capture point with me as a pyro and 2 scouts with me and the rest being snipers and spies. None of them were any good either I had to go take out a sniper myself a lot of the time because they couldn't aim worth crud.

Well the one thing about enemy snipers and spies when you are a medic, is that it forces you to be alert. To avoid snipers, stay low and seek cover often. As for the spies, just simply turn around. I would constantly get stabbed in open areas because I wasn't paying attention. Recently though I have been more alert, and when I turn around in rare instances, i'll see a spy decloak and quickly eliminate him or call on on the mic and have a team mate pop him.

I treat the medic as a surveyor of the field, I constantly call out Sniper and Spy locations, and fortunately on the server I play on, my teams take them out swiftly. I'm avoiding the free weekend, because no one cares about coordinating, they just want weapons :/

do you guys think this unlock thing is being random like this only for this weekend? So that new players who haven't bought the game yet, can see cool unlocks and want to buy the game more? A

I mean Valve is great at promotions, so maybe they did it on purpose just for this weekend only, deny it, and fix it first thing next week and everyone says ahh they fixed the bug, when it was never really a bug in the first place?

I mean I agree its sucky the way it is, I unlocked the sandvich as a sniper in my first 10 mins on a server, and never got another unlock...

If this is the case then I will absolutely hate valve. I used to play runescape (stupid I know) and they did stupid crud like changing huge parts of the game for the worse all the time just to stop real world items for runescape item trading. They took out the whole pvp part and replaced it with something that sucked and they never ever listened to people when we complained and as a result they no longer have the 1 million paying members they had 2 years ago. Doing stuff like this is how you kill a great game.

Why did Valve had to go change something that wasn't broken? It's fun to do achievents and at the end of the day very rewarding to know that you got a weapon unlocked for doing them. This random BS unlock system defeats the point of achievements. Wasn't unlocks originally intended to be an incentive for players to work on achievements?

Achievement:

1. something accomplished, esp. by superior ability, special effort, great courage, etc.

2. act of achieving; attainment or accomplishment.

Achievements should have never been tied to unlocks, when you get an achievement, you get the thing on your stats page and an announcement in whatever server you were in telling anyone who care about achievements that you have earned them. The incentive for completing achievements is to have them complete....that is all (or at least that is all it should be). Would you rather know you completed all the achievements in the game for fun just to say you have done it? Or would you rather complete them all because you HAD to to get access to the new weapons?

They should have never been tied to unlocks, at that point you are not completing achievements just to show your skill, your complteing them them to get a new weapon. Unlocks for completing achievements takes away the purpose of completing achievements to have them complete, instead if forces you to do the achievements just to be an even matchup vs other people.

And that goes for all weapons, even those situational ones, because having the option to change weapons for the situation is an advantage over not having the option at all.

That is why many people complained about the achievements = unlocks method and whined to Valve to change it.

30 minutes isn't that long though, it's the runtime of some maps.

True, but its really frustrating to play for 2 hours and not get a single thing...maybe turn that time up to every hour?

Apparently Robin Walker has stated the system is not working as it should, they say weapons should be a common occurrence and hats should be the rare random unlocks. Those of us who have played for hours without a single unlock are just victims of the bug.

“As in everything else we do, we want to iterate, so this is really the first step towards our desired implementation. We also think we have bugs in the system as well, since we’re seeing some players not finding any items after a few hours of play, which is not at all how it’s tuned. We want unlockable drops to be a pretty regular occurrence for players, with the cosmetic hats being the rare finds.”

I wonder why people are complaining. If it bothers you that much, then pretend it doesn't exist. I'm still trying to get all the Sniper achievements regardless of the random weapon finds. If I find a Jarate or Razorback, then lucky me. If not, then I'll try to get it the "real" way.

Random weapons ARE the real way.....you cannot unlock spy or sniper weapons through achievements.

EDIT: Which means for those of us experiencing the bug of no unlocks after even hours of play, we are not able to get the new weapons.

whoa whoa whoa... okay I was not aware that the weapons are now obtainable via random happenstance. That blows. Also I found the game REALLY buggy last night. First it was saying I was a scout when I was a sniper. Other classes looked like other skins, which had different looking weapons.

I hope they fix this.

    • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Flip 8, Z Fold Wide: Everything you need to know The ONLY thing I need to know is the price, which I know will be way higher than I (and most people) are willing to pay for a phone... so basically nothing here I need to know. PS: Nice job getting that Apple reference to a non-existent and unrevealed product as "competition" in there. Cheque is in the mail.
    • Well I really think the repasting helped if your higher clocks have returned, maybe the next thing to look at is if there is a problem with your case airflow? I guess this because your 3080 has returned to optimal state, but is still staying too warm, which might suggest it was thermal throttling before you repasted, of which the only logical conclusion could be outside factors.
    • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Flip 8, Z Fold Wide: Everything you need to know by Hamid Ganji Galaxy Z Fold 7 - Image via Samsung The next generation of Samsung foldables is set to be unveiled next month at the second Unpacked event of the year. Samsung’s 2026 foldables are not expected to offer significant upgrades over their predecessors, with the Korean firm instead focusing on design refinements and conventional upgrades such as faster processors and better cameras. However, Samsung is reportedly planning to unveil an all-new passport-style foldable this year to rival Apple’s first foldable iPhone, which is expected to debut this September. Here’s a roundup of everything we know about Samsung’s upcoming foldable devices ahead of their official debut. When can we expect Samsung’s new foldables? The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 series were unveiled in July, and Samsung is expected to maintain this timeframe in 2026. Based on previous reports from Korean sources, Samsung will hold its Unpacked event on July 22 in London, UK, to pull back the curtain on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series. The devices are also expected to hit the shelves a few weeks after launch. However, Samsung has yet to announce an official date. A new naming scheme? One of the most interesting changes we might see this year is a new naming scheme for Samsung’s latest foldables. SamMobile reported that since Samsung is expected to unveil three foldables this year, it has adopted a new naming strategy to simplify product identification for customers. Accordingly, the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 will reportedly be called the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and will serve as the direct successor to last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7. The “Ultra” suffix suggests the phone could feature higher-end specifications, such as additional rear camera modules. Samsung’s new passport-style foldable is expected to carry the Galaxy Z Fold 8 name without any suffix. This model is reportedly equipped with two rear cameras. No major changes are expected for the Flip model. Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8 anticipated specs Rumors over the past few months suggest Samsung is preparing several upgrades for its upcoming foldables, although the devices may continue to rely on larger batteries and faster charging speeds rather than dramatic design changes. The primary focus this year is expected to be the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and its wide-screen design. Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra official CAD renders - Image via AndroidHeadlines Here are the anticipated specifications for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra based on previous leaks: 6.5-inch outer display and 8-inch inner display, 120Hz refresh rate, and 2,600 nits peak brightness Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, paired with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of storage 4.1mm thickness when unfolded and a weight of 210g 200MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide camera, 10MP or 12MP telephoto camera, 10MP cover camera, and 10MP selfie camera 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired charging Android 17 and One UI 9 As for the Galaxy Z Flip 8, the device is not expected to be a major departure from its predecessor, although it could become slightly slimmer. Expected specifications include: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 or Exynos 2600 processor 12GB of RAM with 256GB and 512GB storage options 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner dispaly and 4.1-inch Super AMOLED outer dispaly 50MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide camera, and 10MP selfie camera 4,300mAh battery with 25W wired charging Android 17 and One UI 9 Samsung’s foldables are also expected to launch with Gemini Intelligence, Google’s AI suite for automating tasks in Android ecosystem. Moreover, given current memory and component costs, some Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8 variants could see a price hike. Galaxy Z Fold 8 adopts a wide-screen design The centerpiece of the upcoming Unpacked event could be the Galaxy Z Fold 8, previously rumored as the Galaxy Z Fold Wide. This model adopts a passport-style form factor and is expected to compete directly with Apple’s iPhone Fold. Galaxy Z Fold 8 official CAD renders - Image via AndroidHeadlines Here’s what to expect: 7.6-inch primary OLED display and 5.4-inch cover display, 120Hz refresh rate, 2,600 nits peak brightness, and 4:3 aspect ratio Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, 12GB or 16GB of RAM, and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB storage options 4,800mAh battery with 45W wired charging 50MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide camera, and 10MP selfie camera Android 17 and One UI 9 The three new foldable phones are unlikely to be the only devices unveiled at Samsung’s Unpacked event. The company is also expected to introduce the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and the Galaxy Watch 9 series.
