ok im thinking about buying this since everybody talks about it i have watched a few clips which i happen to like... fav clip is the guy whos moms a hooker

ok question is can you play single player & if so are you red or blue team

There is no single player. It is only multiplayer. (disregarding that there are bots)

I've been having a lot of fun playing the 360 version of TF2 and am considering jumping into the PC version. My laptop:

Intel Core 2 Duo T6500, 2.1GHz, 800Mhz, 2M L2 Cache

4GB, DDR2, 800MHz 2 Dimm

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500HD

Will these specs be sufficient enough for an enjoyable experience? I know the graphics card (or lack thereof) is the main issue.

Enjoyable experience in any game when using an intel graphics chip? Heh, not likely.

ok which should i buy

Buy Team Fortress Complete

Includes 2 items: Team Fortress Classic, Team Fortress 2 $22.49

or

Buy Garry's Mod + Team Fortress 2

Includes 2 items: Team Fortress 2, Garry's Mod

also you can ad me my names the same on here

Heh as long as the purchase has gone through it'll be fine. Sometimes Steam gets busy and can't download so you'll have to be patient. Well worth it though!

As a server owner and plugin author, I was shocked at some of the changes Valve has made in the latest update.

In the 1.0.8.6 TF2 update, Valve put in a new policy that prevents server modifications from attaching entities to players and having the attached entity be visible.

This greatly limits creativity with server-side mods. This includes equipment manager, the plugin many servers used to allow players to wear any hat on any character.

A list of what this new policy breaks:

1. Custom, unofficial hats. One example of this a servers "AWESOME!" hat which is a giant yellow ball with the famous awesome smiley. Valve can't possibly add every single hat to TF2 and some servers have special unique hats. Essentially, all servers are barred from using anything as a hat.

2. Custom, unofficial and on-the-fly generated weapons that server modifications may issue to players. An example of this is dodgeball flamethrower for servers. Custom weapons simply are not going to be drawn to other players (and possibly the owner itself)

3. Any future game play modification that may want to attach an entity to a player for a variety of reasons. PropHunt used this feature, valve explicitly added two new inputs to prevent PropHunt from being quite difficult to fix. My question to Valve is, would PropHunt ever came into existence if this policy on no attached entities been in effect the whole time?

Valve games have always been very mod friendly and this is one of the reasons for the longevity of their games, Valve has been one of the few game companies that are quite open with their games that allows these kinds of things to thrive. This new policy is an arbitrary limit on mod creativity.

This means I'm better than everybody else, right?

Nope, almost positive my soldier medal (of which only 11,111 were created) is more rare than your gold badge, maggot!

On top of that, it seems either tf2items.com has removed a couple accounts (the owner removes accounts who post links to their profile on forums to intentionally increase his view count), or some users have physically deleted their soldier medals, making them even more rare.

Either way, 11,111 is likely much lower than the number of people who bought TF2 within the first 3 months.

    • Qualcomm's new Snapdragon Reality Elite chip brings on-device AI to Android XR devices by Pradeep Viswanathan Qualcomm has been delivering dedicated SoCs for mixed reality and spatial computing devices for several years. The journey started with the Snapdragon XR1, followed by the Snapdragon XR2 in 2019, the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 in September 2023, and finally the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 in 2024. Today, Qualcomm announced a major upgrade with the new Snapdragon Reality Elite Platform, which targets premium mixed reality and spatial computing devices. OEMs can use this SoC to power both all-in-one video-see-through headsets and lightweight, tethered optical-see-through glasses. Qualcomm highlighted that the Snapdragon Reality Elite will power the next wave of Android XR devices coming later this year. These wearables will offer better visuals, improved power efficiency, and deeper on-device AI integration compared to the previous generation. The Snapdragon Reality Elite can deliver up to 48 TOPS of AI performance, allowing large language models and large vision models to run directly on the device for the first time. In addition to enabling new spatial AI experiences, these new AI capabilities will improve head and hand tracking, as well as see-through features. On the performance side, the Snapdragon Reality Elite offers up to 60% higher GPU performance, up to 30% higher CPU performance, and up to 160% higher NPU performance compared to the previous generation. The platform supports visuals of up to 4.4K per eye at 90 frames per second for sharper images and smoother motion. Qualcomm is also claiming significant efficiency improvements. The Snapdragon Reality Elite can offer up to 20% longer battery life under the same workload. More importantly, the chipset can run up to 12 degrees Celsius cooler under load, making headsets more comfortable for users to wear for longer periods. The platform also includes improvements to video see-through, featuring lower latency and better image quality. Qualcomm states that its EVA hardware block helps accelerate demanding computer vision workloads, improving how digital content blends with the real world.
    • Umm... GitHub continues to use AWS. That's the story, that's the headline. There's no "new" news here. GitHub continues to require additional capacity beyond the originally-planned Azure allocations. There's nothing special about this; nothing noteworthy. They're still using AWS' infra until the cutover is complete.

    • "just $100 per TB"? Just? Are we trying to make this seem like the new normal? Kinda weird to make it sound like that is not a ridiculously expensive asking price.
