Huge update for today. 682 kb of awesomeness.

I got the Football Helmet as a random drop yesterday. Yay me.

I noticed that the Skullcutter's icon had a huge gap to the right of it when it came up, maybe it fixes that.

Still, nothing of interest.

Well, Epic fail in crafting today. Excluding the Halo, Gibus and Halloween Mask, the only 2 hats I had were a Backbiters Billycock, which I crafted a few months ago, and a Camera Beard that I got when they were dropping commonly. So after months of playing I've finally saved up enough metal to craft a random hat and guess what I got? Another freaking Camera Beard. It's pretty much the most worthless 'hat' in the game since it's so common so I probably won't even be able to trade it for anything if they ever put the trading system in place.

http://tf2stats.net/hats/

It's not that bad.

Its the most common random-drop item, which is pretty bad.

My rarest items currently are a soldier medal (3.99% of TF2 players have one, making it more rare than the Primeval Warrior medal), and the Engy Hotrod hat (but I never play engy, so it will be good trading material when that time comes).

TF2 is such a finicky game. Yesterday, I played for around 4 hours with 0 crashes. Today, I have played for maybe 2 hours with 4+ crashes (every map change). No update, no change on my computer, nothing.......its like sometimes TF2 just decides whether it wants to crash or not for the rest of the day.......so damn annoying....

EDIT: Come to think of it, I did update my ATI drivers from 10.4 to 10.5 yesterday.....no crashes back when I was on 10.4, and that is the only system change since before the crashes. Might rollback the drivers and try it again, see if it fixes the issue.

You people and your hats. All I have is the first Spy hat (Fancy Fedora). :( That, and Bill's hat.

So what? I don't have any hat. Do I care? No. Is this some kind of gimmick to increase the female proportion of TF2 gamers? Or WoW gamers, so they can feel like they're farming some kind of pointless items?

In TF2, I care about kicking your ass, that's it.

What's wrong with hats and user personalization? I like standing out from the crowd.

I crafted my Bill's Baseball Shine and Spy Beard into a Hound Dog (Heavy Elvis-like haircut)... well worth it :) I just wish I could get enough stuff to craft some medic hats (and the surgical mask).

It's a pointless gimmick? I'll keep standing out by my kill count, thx.

Kill count is meaningless if you do not work as a team to accomplish objectives.

But still, nobody needs hats, but hats add an extra layer to make the game more unique/interesting.

Customization is a gimmick? Okkkkkkkkkk.

Rep points for the both of you. It's a bit of harmless fun. If you want a gritty FPS that RELIES on killcount go back to CoD. Where it's basically "These are the guys who won't kill, and these are the guys who will kill you."

I'm just tired of all the buzz around something that has zero tactical relevance. In-game people spend more time boasting about how they got the latest pointless item before anyone else than coming up with a plan to take over the enemy base. Also you can't totally ignore the feature because of how the game constantly nags you with new items which you've already got ten times before. When your inventory is full, you have to refuse the new items, with a confirmation dialog, or do some tedious clean up if you want to keep it... Precious lost seconds for the team!

It's not a major annoyance, but still. TF2 used to be more streamlined.

It's called FUN, games are entertainment, they're meant to be FUN.

Seems a lot of people are starting to miss the point of them now... A lot of people join a server, and just play to have fun, that is all. I regular on a few servers and we're all talking generally and having a laugh. It's great.

Yeah there's an objective, but the item window shows up when you die. As such you're useless at that time anyways.

    • Windows 11 KB5094126, KB5093998 bugging out Office apps but it may not be Microsoft's fault by Sayan Sen Microsoft last week released Windows 11 KB5094126 and KB5093998 as the latest Patch Tuesday updates. Following that the company also published the accompanying dynamic updates under KB5094149, KB5095971, and KB5094156. Although the tech giant did not acknowledge any major problems, some users online reported various issues ranging from OneDrive and Dropbox access problems, BitLocker recovery lockouts, to blue screens and BSODs. You can read about them in this dedicated piece. While there is still no confirmation about those problems from Microsoft the company has admitted to another bug which we did not report on. The tech giant has confirmed it has received reports of an issue in which certain third-party applications may be unable to launch Microsoft Office apps or open Office documents after installing the Patch Tuesday. This affects both Windows 11 as well as Windows 10. The company says the problem impacts a subset of applications that rely on OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) automation to communicate with Microsoft Office programs. According to Microsoft, affected scenarios involve third-party software attempting to open Office applications or documents from within their own interface. In such cases, the Office program may fail to launch altogether, or the requested document may not open. Oddly there may not be any error message, which probably makes the issue difficult to diagnose. The bug affects several Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and other apps in the Microsoft Office suite when they are launched through the affected software. These include tax and accounting software such as CCH Engagement and Workpaper Manager, dental practice management solutions like Dentrix and Softdent, as well as the popular research and reference management tool Zotero. Microsoft adds that other applications using similar Office integration methods could also experience the same problematic behavior. To understand the issue it is important to look at OLE, the Microsoft technology involved. OLE allows different applications to work together and share data, while its Automation feature lets one program control another. Thus this enables third-party software to launch Microsoft Office apps, open documents, and perform tasks automatically without requiring users to switch between programs. Because many accounting, healthcare, research, and business applications rely on OLE automation to interact with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Office apps, any disruption can break those workflows. As a result, affected software may be unable to open Office documents or launch Office applications even though the programs themselves continue to work normally. At the moment the company has not provided a permanent fix though it has confirmed that engineers are actively working on a resolution, which will be delivered through a future Windows update. As such additional details will be shared once more information becomes available. In the meantime, Microsoft recommends a simple workaround for affected users whic is to open the Office application or document directly rather than launching it through the third-party program. For enterprise customers and organizations managing larger deployments, Microsoft says an additional mitigation is available. Admins experiencing the problem on their managed devices are advised to contact Microsoft Support for business to obtain and apply the workaround.
    • It saddens me when cars are such dull colours now. Mine is bright metallic blue and I absolutely adore it for standing out in contrast to that depressing backdrop of traffic.
