Killzone 2

I don't really care that much for the controls, just let it rest XD

All I want to talk about is the little details in there - stuff like the glowing metal sparks actually bouncing off the floor, wind, stuff like that....

also; they should call it teaser instead of demo.

The Helghast commentary also :p

In the warehouse one of them was trying to flank me then just blurted out "Awww f**k it" and went in another direction

So glad there's no constant enemy respawning and things are fairly dynamic [each battle I've had in the warehouse has been slightly different].

Just want to play the full thing now, we've been seeing Cornith River since E32007, wished they'd have given us another location to try.

The AI really isn't that smart and they are running on scripts. Each time you get to the part with the tanks, each time I've played there is always one Helghast which runs to the left and hides behind one of the stone walls. If you run up to them their animations are pretty slow to melee, you can actually tease them and then kill them every time. Run up to them, they swing and a miss while you step backwards, pow right in the kisser (Y)

When you get in the warehouse, there is always the same helghast who jumps over the railing and the sniper on top of the room. When they zip down they run to the same positions as well.

They barely react to grenades either, obviously you don't want to give them the chance and cook them before you throw, but when you don't they just sit there.

Not saying its a bad thing, its pretty much like 90% of the FPS out there today, it's just nothing special is all.

Graphics are far better than your average FPS, but man the hype has led us to believe it was the best looking game on consoles. I really disagree. The faces for one look pretty poor. Even HL2 Ep 2 faces look nicer.

I love the lighting in the warehouse. When you first go in, take out the helghast and then run to the stairs, if you look back there is again always one who flanks from behind your position, if you zoom down to him with the scope the light beaming in will blind you. The graphical detail is better than average, but the attention to detail, like the sparks, lighting etc are amazing (Y)

?

I always get them going "GRENADE" and running.

HL2 faces look nicer? .... uhhhh :p

If anyone stumbles on a fix for any possible surround sound problems let me know, can't even enjoy the game in all its glory with my bass going crazy in this game.

And not being able to zoom on L2 is m-m-m-m-monster fail fail fail fail :p

I really need to get that cross battle adapter gadget gizmo thiny and a wired 360 controller, my hands are all cramped up using the DS3 after like 5 minutes.

Your PS3 audio on auto settings?

Also make sure you have "BD/DVD dynamic range control" set to "off" on the XMB under "video settings". And any sort of compression on your receiver off also.

Yup, thats what I said (Y) I don't think I've seen any game have as expressive face models like HL2's.

I wasn't aware people had metal rods for eyebrows?..

KZ2.jpg

(taken from GT's review of ingame cut scene, not the CGI we've been fed for months)

Just one example, but this is the top guy, and he looks like ass (N)

Btw just finished watching their review, didn't want to before I played it myself. They talk about the textures and bad aiming as well (Y)

Edit: Compared to the CG scenes we've all come to known..

You've not been fed any CGI for months, what are you on about?

And that metal is not his eyebrow, it's part of the mask  (you can't see his right eyebrow). Plus screen capping a compressed GT review isn't the best of ideas.

That's from the main intro, the only 6 mins of CG in the whole game...

It's on optical settings with every surround sound option selected, why would this game require any tweaking when every other game works just fine? tsk!

And I never thought I'd say this, stop the constant nitpicking and random bashing - They finally delivered a good looking game with great gameplay, yes it does have issues but so does all the other games out there.

Sure most of the Helghast will run to the same positions, because we would do too... I mean, I have basically hid mostly behind the same walls - because they're right in front of you or provide you with the best position you can get to without being annihilated by the opposing team... Sure the entrance of the Helghast in the warehouse is scripted, but hey, you can't really expect AI to know "oh wait, gotta throw my rappel rope down here and then jump over that other railing because the closest one will get me killed" - that's something for the next couple of years if you ask me ;)

I think the AI is pretty good - I tried several 'styles' of play and while the difficulty setting provided with the demo allows quite a lot, surely knifing everyone has been quite hard on me - they keep backing away, walking backwards and pumping lead into my face.

Also; the remark that HL2E2 faces look better... lol. edit; OK, DM was talking about expressions - in that case, yes, the rigging of HL2 facial models is supreme, I still think KZ2's faces look better graphically, maybe not as expressive...

Nah, I really like it, I played it through really slowly to try out some more things and look around (teammates kept asking where the F I was and what the F I was doing... nice "subtle" touch :p). I love the attention for detal, as said, the sparks bouncing, rocks flying around and bouncing off the ground when an RPG hits - I really think this is where the game shines (based on the demo of course) I hope the battles will get a bit tougher, will be fixed by difficulty setting I presume, as well as I would like to see how the story works and just play through an entire level with bosses etc...

real triggers. :p

analoguecaps17sz0.jpg

analogue caps btw.

How did you make your triggers like that? I need! xD

first impressions of killzone 2:

1.) best graphics I've seen on the ps3 imo

2.) I don't like how the main menu screen shake's like it's f@#ked up. It's really annoying. >_>

3.) The Demo should be called a teaser as it's way too short.

4.) no multiplayer action in the "demo"? zzz

5.) oh yeh did I mention the graphics were beastly? lol

Sorry not eyebrow, eye lids?, whatever the part is called under your eye  All facial movement stops above his cheek.

Yep agree, that's annoying.

What about them, the "unrealistic" bulges?

Go do some research on what happened to the Helghast, and why they wear masks.

With the economy in the abyss and Helghan morale below that, a singular and remarkable figure rises to prominence: Scolar Visari I, the eventual self-proclaimed Autarch of Helghan. Visari's ideology is simple and compelling: the Helghan people had once come here as humans, but they are humans no longer. They are different, changed. Changed cosmetically in their travels, changed physically by their residence on the alien planet of Helghan, changed spiritually by the hardships they've endured in every circumstance. The government that has brought them to this end could only give them structure; it could not give them life, could not give them a reason to go on, and could not fully express the magnitude of the transformation. The world has changed us, Visari claims, and now it is our turn to change the world.

Visari's oratorical skill and magnetic personality draws many of the disaffected public to his cause. It spreads among them like wildfire and galvanizes them in a single recognition: that they are one people, one nation, united against all aggressors. More significantly, perhaps, Visari is the first to give voice to what will later become the keystone of the Helghast agenda: their identity as an entirely new and entirely superior race – the 'extra-human' race. He goes on to preach the militaristic, absolutist values that will become the trademark of the Helghast. More importantly, he transforms the value of mask-wearing – once a badge of low station – and makes it integral to the Helghan identity. There is nothing shameful in its history, Visari tells the people. It is testament to their fortitude to wear the mask. And the Helghan rally around him, rich and poor alike.

If I'm not mistaken it was due to the toxic atmosphere of Helghan and the exotic radiation that the masks were 1st needed by the original settlers. Also, the storms on Helghan tend to put a lot of dangerous debris in the air and masks are needed particularily at those times. The majority of Helghast still need the masks to protect themselves from further damage. Due to that is has simply become standard uniform. Some Helghast that are "genetically superior" can live without the masks though all together.

In terms of other factors, it also would protect them from airborne viruses, low oxygen environments or biological weapons. Historically, getting a mask on Helghan meant that you were a working citizen and thus resulted greater respect. The mask now is as much a sign of the Helghast culture as anything else.

Yep agree, that's annoying.

+1, the only thing I hate about the demo.

No idea why they done that.

It's on optical settings with every surround sound option selected, why would this game require any tweaking when every other game works just fine? tsk!

I'll try forcing mine into DTS and see if anything goes wrong. Right now it's in uncompressed PCM. I can't say I've read any other issues about sound though.

What about them, the "unrealistic" bulges?

Go do some research on what happened to the Helghast, and why they wear masks.

I have done my research believe me. Funny how his eyes are perfectly fine in the CG and are completely set in stone in game huh..

Forget it, talking to brick walls here. The game is perfect!!1!

Still trying to get that other gun the Helghast has on top of the warehouse to drop  I grenaded him off, but I think the gun must of fell up there.

Keep trying, you'll get it. You have to knock him off the roof. I haven't been managed it since but it's possible. Need to cook a nade in his face to push him off I reckon. :p

@Jigoku You need the Gioteck Real Triggers.

And not being able to zoom on L2 is m-m-m-m-monster fail fail fail fail :p

Have to agree.. and holding L2 to stay behind cover whilst pushing up or side to side to lean out and press L3 to look down the sights is a right pain!

Other than that, pretty good.. but I don't see what all the fuss has been about? *Puts on flame retardent suit*

Okay let me know, I don't even dare giving it another try - It literally sounded like my sub was going to explode and it was a second away from dancing out of my room.

DTS is working fine here :/

I am doing it over HDMI though.

Never had a single problem with any 360 / PS3 games up until now, it's weird.

:(

Haven't seen anyone else talk about any sound issues. Try turning on/off your receiver?

By the way, I just noticed in the demo you can completely turn off the hud/crosshair/hints... Give it a try ;)

edit: Damn, playing the game without the hud/crosshairs and any hints is so much better. It doesn't even tell you when you walk over a gun, you gotta do everything yourself. Much more fun/challenging.

yeah that is what I did. Got it on my second try :D

The gun is called StA14 Rifle

yeah that is what I did. Got it on my second try :D

The gun is called StA14 Rifle

Just got it there as well :)

Had no idea what it's called though cause it was during my no HUD playthrough haha - [seriously though, try it with everything turned off, I think I'll be playing the SP campaign like this]. Like someone said earlier, it has very little ammo, but it's right at the end of the demo anyway.

yeah that is what I did. Got it on my second try :D

The gun is called StA14 Rifle

Yeah thats the one. It has bugger all ammo but its fun while it lasts. :p

After you blow the bridge up at the start theres a guy firing down at you from the balcony, on the floor above him theres another trench coat guy (or at least it looks like one). I don't know if he has a different weapon either, worth a look though.

You can build interactive forms from scratch with text fields, checkboxes, and dropdowns, permanently redact sensitive data before sharing, draw freehand on contracts and diagrams, and add custom watermarks — all without a single file leaving your machine. Edit Text and Images Directly Inside PDFs RevPDF supports true inline PDF editing — not just annotation layers on top of a document, but actual modification of existing text and images within the file. A smart font-matching engine identifies the font used in the original document and applies it automatically when you make edits, so changes blend naturally with the surrounding content. You can reposition elements, resize images, and update text across single pages or entire documents. RevPDF 4.5.0 release notes: This is one of the biggest updates to RevPDF yet. • Interesting. I'm not using a VPN with my phone. I tried though my home internet (Rogers) and my cellular internet (Telus) using their respective DNS servers and both trigger the dialog above.
