Helghast in HD – Killzone 2 Ads Hit TV

Thank you all for your support and confidence in Killzone 2. Its debut starts a relentless flood of AAA exclusives on the PlayStation 3 – a line up that I consider to be our strongest yet. And I am confident this game will inspire many of you who’ve been waiting for the right time to buy a PS3. It is a true testament to what “Only on PlayStation” means.

We’re excited the promise of Killzone 2 has been realized and has exceeded expectations due to the tireless efforts and dedication of Guerrilla Games. I can’t thank the development team enough for remaining true to the vision and producing one of the most impressive games in recent memory – on any platform. The pre-order numbers only reinforce your great enthusiasm for the game and we’re pleased the game reviews show the same.

A group of us flew out to meet with the development team in late 2008 for a product meeting – we had an idea for a fresh way to promote the game. It was to bring the incredible detail in Killzone 2 to life by showcasing the game’s technology – only made possible by the power of the PS3.

The idea for the commercial centered on telling the story of war on Helghan - up close and very personal and to use the game’s engine to show it. No voodoo, no heavy metal soundtrack: just the true representation of the in-game graphics. The team at Guerrilla embraced the concept and we were on a production rollercoaster ride that produced a piece that will be broadcasted across several networks starting tomorrow. You’ll get the chance to see it here for the first time:

We’ll also have the digital version available on the PlayStation Network later today.

At the risk of stating the obvious – the Killzone 2 engine is phenomenally powerful. To offer you some insight into the technology behind this game, we will release a playable version of this in-engine ad vignette on the PlayStation Network coming in March. You’ll be able to control the camera and hear director commentary on how the production was completed using only the game’s technology. The project codename is “Killzone in 4-D” – hope you can check it out.

Thanks again for keeping the faith – it means a lot to the team here at PlayStation. Enjoy playing Killzone 2 on February 27th !!

I quite like it, not bad! Little bit different, but not as different as the usual Sony "lets make an advert that makes no sense".

By the way, this

is ****ing sweet.

Just placed my order with ShopTo. I'm off work with glandular fever, so I hope my copy arrives early too.

edit: Turns out they've stopped pre-orders, despite their claims that if you order before the 25th you'll receive it in time for release. What shall I do?

Pre-orders have stopped due to volume - The 2 day thing is only applicable to pre-orders that don't go "out of stock" :p

You can either pre-order the steel LE on shopto for ?32.99 or order the standard edition for ?29.99 on Play - http://www.play.com/Games/PlayStation3/4-/...-2/Product.html [you get some exclusive theme as well for pre-ordering]

Just saw an advert here in the UK on Channel 4. First it had the PS3 branding, then it followed with flashing shots of Helghast running across a bridge, then an uncloacking Helghast sniper and finally a shot of Radec and his men looking over Helghan before the clip ended with the release date and game name. It was pretty short, but quite effective. :)

I think I'll opt for Play, thanks for he heads up.

why did GameInformer.com only give it a 8.75 ?

Because journalists can award games whatever score they want.

Second take is a 9.0 if you care that much.

#1. Why do you have that many copies?

#2. Can you send me one?

You actually think they are my pics? Cmon dude, why would I have 30 copies of the LE KZ2 bundle :p

By the way, full UK advert here - http://threespeech.com/blog/2009/02/killzo...l-length-tv-ad/

Starts airing Monday - The 10 second add that's on TV just now is just a teaser.

Also, the video I talked about earlier airing at 5pm

Here you go everyone - the making of Killzone 2. A behind the scenes look at how Guerilla created such a powerful sense of immersion in Killzone 2?

Pretty cool, right? But that?s not all, we?ll have a second installment on Monday at 5pm, along with loads more Killzone 2 content during the rest of the week! If you want to be the first in the know about Killzone 2, make sure you keep checking back?

Pretty cool looking video.

Why has it taken so long for the advert on air TV? A whole 4/5 days before release isn't really worthy of this game. They should have started this campaign a fortnight ago.

Sony needs to sort their marketing department out fast.

People can buy the game after launch day you know...

As long as it frequents on TV, nothing wrong with ~week before launch. Showing the add too early isn't going to help much either. The teaser add which is 10 seconds long started a few nights ago, Monday rolls out the full 30 second.

Pre-orders for EU alone were already at 1.1million a month or so back, the games going to do well, no need to worry :p

awww man! how **** and unappreciated is glandular fever!

I had it for like 6 months and lost my job and people used to be like... but its only glandular fever.

I wish they could have had it to see what it was like!

    • Anthropic pulls Fable 5 and Mythos 5 after US export control order by Pradeep Viswanathan In April this year, Anthropic launched the Claude Mythos Preview frontier model with state-of-the-art cyber and coding capabilities for a select set of companies around the world. After preparing appropriate guardrails, early this week, Anthropic launched Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, its most capable AI models. Claude Fable 5 is for general users and comes with strict safeguards, while Mythos 5 is designed with fewer safeguards for cybersecurity and biology use cases. Today, Anthropic abruptly suspended access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models for all customers after receiving an export control directive from the US government. The company received the directive from the government today at 5:21 p.m. ET, and the received letter did not provide any details regarding the national security concern. Anthropic understands that the government became aware of a method to bypass, or “jailbreak,” Fable 5, which might be the reason behind the directive. The order was issued under national security authorities and requires the company to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether they are inside or outside the United States. The restriction also applies to foreign national employees working at Anthropic. As a result, the company has disabled both models for all customers to ensure compliance. Access to previous Anthropic models like Opus and Sonnet is not affected by this government order. The company highlighted that it had developed strong safeguards to reduce the possibility that Fable is misused for tasks related to cybersecurity. In fact, many developers are complaining that the safeguards are going overboard. Additionally, the company worked with the US government, the UK AISI, multiple private third-party organizations, and internal teams to red-team Fable’s safeguards for thousands of hours. Finally, Anthropic noted that no testers have yet been able to find a universal jailbreak on Fable 5. As expected, Anthropic disagrees that a narrow potential jailbreak should lead to the recall of a commercial model used by hundreds of millions of people. It warned that applying this standard across the AI industry could effectively halt new frontier model deployments. Anthropic concluded by mentioning that it is working to restore access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 as soon as possible and plans to share more details within the next 24 hours.

    • Not sure what country you’re in but in many countries you can absolutely jail the sellers behind businesses… in fact I’d say in most countries you can do that
