Firefox 3.01 Released

Recommended Posts

Mine still randomly crash's sometimes but it's a bit better.

Try running Fx in safe mode and see if it still crashes. If it does not then one of your extensions is causing it. You can disable all the extensions and then by trial and error find out which one is causing the crashes. Enable one at a time, surf awhile and then disable that one and enable the next and so forth. I have not had a crash since installing Fx 3.01 and I am using 23 extensions.

Seriously, without Tab Mix Plus, Firefox is nothing to me. Anybody know a temp fix?

dl Mr Tech Toolkit extension > restart > dl TMP > check max version box on install > restart > enjoy TMP!

*Mr Tech Toolkit is great for temporarily using extensions and themes while waiting for them to update*

I have a question about that dev build TMP that was posted: I'm using the nightly tester tools extension to make TMP compatible with 3.0.1, is it better to use it like that or just install the dev build? I would think the dev build but it won't lose my settings if I install it, will it?

It's got nothing to do with Mozilla, it's entirely up to MS.

The browser sniffing code they use sucks, they explicitly check for Firefox 2 on Windows, so Firefox 2 on Linux comes up unsupported, as does Firefox 3 and any other Gecko powered, non Firefox browser (which work fine, but since they don't announce themselves as Firefox they get marked unsupported)

Maybe in the future people will write browser sniffing code that targets the engines (or even better, specific features), but at the moment it just seems more of the same stupidity.

Changing the user agent that is reported by the browser through one of the many available add-ons should work around this issue, shouldn't it?

Spoof as Firefox 2 and delete your cookies for Hotmail (it sets a cookie saying your browser is unsupported, if it's there it doesn't even bother re-checking)

It should work then.

Edit: Or not, I tried it and I got

You are temporarily using the classic version of Windows Live Hotmail because of a problem during sign in. To use the full version, try signing in again. It may help if you go to your web browser's options first and clear your browsing history and cookies.

Edit 2: It's just giving me that error no matter what I do.
