[Cancelled] Caprica (Season 1)

Recommended Posts

What are the ratings for the show? About two and a half minutes into the video that Rappy posted (see here), Alessanda Torresani said that if they don't get as many viewers as the season finale the show will be cancelled. And by season finale, she meant the finale for part one because season one is split into two parts (with 9 epsiodes each).

TBH, SyFy did it to themselves. They shelved the damn show for so long, that people forgot it was even still airing.

And they wonder why viewership is down...

I really can't stand it anymore: Looking from the sky down to Caprica City you have this semi-futuristic city, yet at street level they did absolutely nothing to even remotely mask the fact they're filming in some North American city. Hell, the cars they drive in say enough. The space flight capability, computer technology people have at home, robots etc. don't match at all with the vehicles and stuff you see on the streets. They did a poor job at masking those MacBook Pros as well. Compared to other current popular si-fi shows the special effects are pretty poor too. It's kind of ruining the show for me because I'm constantly reminded its fake.

Low budget.

It's not that they have a low budget, it's more the fact that they are simply a little bit ahead of us in technological advancement. Not everything is going to look futuristic. Even Battlestar Galactica had the same look to it, 58 years after the events of 'Caprica'.

I would bet that if you were to travel forward 100 years into the future, you would still be able to identify aspects of our current society.

Sure. In October 2110 you'll still see 1970s Citroëns driving around Amsterdam. Give me a break... When was the last time you saw 1910s cars still driving around your city? With that I mean actually being used for day-to-day tasks.

Next to that, my point isn't that you don't see cars flying around, my point is that the city at street level doesn't correspond with the city you see from the sky down (and on their television). At all. Also, we're on a city on a whole different planet. At least give us slightly the impression Apple, Citroën, Volkswagen etc. aren't Caprica-based as well. They should have masked stuff like that a little bit better. Mask the logos or whatever...

The logo's are advertisement they are being paid to show those!

Take the last episode of Bones, they were in a room with a bunch of monitors that all had the Windows logo on it.

I for one didn't know MS made flatscreen TV's.

As the second half of Syfy's Caprica motors along, a decision on whether the Battlestar Galactica spin-off series will continue into a second season looms near.

Syfy executive vice president Mark Stern recently told E! that they hope to make the call on Caprica: Season Two by no later than November 15, a little less than a month from now. Ratings of the new season one episodes airing every Tuesday night will likely affect the decision so tune in if you want Caprica to continue.

If Caprica does score a second season then showrunners Ron Moore and David Eick are more than ready. "We have a creative roadmap for the entire second season," they told E!. "We mapped it out in greater detail than we ever did in the BSG run."

As for the rest of this season, Moore and Eick promised the show will tie in more BSG mythology into the ongoing story and expand the role of Lacy (Magda Apanowicz). I'm personally waiting for the Cylons to end up in people's homes.

another good episode but as mentioned in another thread the ratings were a series low so I think this series is sadly done for :(

to quote Caprica

"He must be returned to the soil."

I hope not. If it does, I'll be ****ed off. I'm tired of all the stupid **** on TV that doesn't get cancelled, and all the good stuff that does.

God only know we need more "Jersey Shore" pfft....

Caprica Cancelled!

Caprica is toast. Syfy has announced that the Battlestar Galactica prequel has been canceled.

“The remaining first run episodes of Caprica – airing Tuesdays at 10/9c – will be removed from the schedule as of next Tuesday, November 2,” said the network in a statement. “These final five episodes of the season will be re-scheduled to air at a to be announced time in the first quarter of 2011, and will conclude the run of the series.”

“We appreciate all the support that fans have shown for ‘Caprica’ and are very proud of the producers, cast, writers and the rest of the amazing team that has been committed to this fine series,“ said Mark Stern, Executive Vice President of Original Programming, Syfy and Co-Head of Content for Universal Cable Productions. “Unfortunately, despite its obvious quality, ‘Caprica’ has not been able to build the audience necessary to justify a second season.”

SERIOUSLY, WHAT THE FRAK? At least air out the remaining episodes!!!!!!!!!!! *******s.

yeah its typical though of cancelled shows they are usually pulled and "burnt" off when they feel like it

Not much of a shocker here. They were never going to get that kind of audience on SyFy. Scheduling certainly didn't help much either. Now I don't much care if they finish out the remaining episodes. Why have any interest in something with a dead end?

Oh ffs, it's not THAT BAD and also it seemed to be kicking off with the last episode....

It's all these short attention span eejits who need thousands of explosions a minute to be satisfied.

I actually really like Caprica.

yeah! that Cylon in the field was pretty awesome! :(

    • Grand Theft Auto VI pricing revealed alongside Ultimate Edition and pre-loading details by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Last week, Rockstar revealed Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders will be starting soon, and just a day ahead of that, now the studio has announced the official pricing for the highly anticipated game. This has been a hotly debated topic among fans and industry veterans for a long time, considering the game is expected to be the biggest entertainment product launch ever. The confirmed pricing for the Grand Theft Auto VI standard edition is $79.99, which Rockstar says gives access to the "single-player experience set in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet." This follows what most of our readers thought would happen with the pricing too. At the same time, a $99.99 Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition has been confirmed as well, which lands with "an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story." Pre-ordering will also give fans extra bonuses, including a Vintage Vice City Pack of cosmetic items as well as a free month of GTA+. Head to the official website of the game here to check out all the cosmetic rewards the Ultimate Edition and pre-orders bring. Interestingly, the studio does not mention Grand Theft Auto VI multiplayer at all in today's announcement. Perhaps this will arrive later, following the campaign launch, or the studio is keeping that reveal for a later date. Digital pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI will begin on June 25, 2026, at midnight local time across regions for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The title is slated to launch on November 19 on those same platforms. Pre-loading for Grand Theft Auto VI will kick off on November 12, giving players a week to get the game ready on their consoles. As for the physical edition, Take-Two has confirmed that this will be available without a disc, with the box only containing a download code inside. This will be purchasable starting November 12, giving players who take this route time to pre-load the title as well.
    • Turbo Pascal was my first real programming experience more than 30 years ago at university. I mostly taught myself from the included examples and help documentation, because the university only taught the basic syntax and philosophy of Pascal, without going deeply into Turbo Pascal’s advanced features. I still remember when I discovered that I could embed assembly language directly into Pascal code, call BIOS functions, manipulate screen memory, use mouse interrupts, and control peripherals from my programs. That opened huge doors for me. Programming back then felt really fun, direct, and close to the machine. What I loved about Pascal was its readability and the almost instant compile time. Turbo Pascal was an amazing environment, but unfortunately Turbo Pascal for Windows 3 did not feel like it fully carried that legacy forward. Later, Delphi got things back on the right track after the messy transition to TP for Windows. Sadly, Delphi suffered from years of uncertainty as it moved from Borland to CodeGear and then to Embarcadero. That instability made many developers lose confidence in it, even though Delphi itself remained a powerful and productive tool. I still work with Delphi from time to time, but I definitely miss the old days of Turbo Pascal.
    • I hope this encodes in to AV1 or AV2 as currently tiktok uses h265 and h264.
