4CxbqFxVnstmA Veteran Posted July 23, 2008 Veteran Share Posted July 23, 2008 Well, lots of organisations have lifetime membership fees. What would be Neowins? ?100? ?150? ?200? What would it cost for a member to buy lifetime membership?
LightIdea
I think around the 100 to 200 would be ok :)
Nic
I think $100 would be fair. I mean, if you donate once, then you'll probably donate again.
Antaris Veteran Posted July 23, 2008 Veteran Share Posted July 23, 2008 Oh, I thought this was an annoucement topic for lifetime subscriber fees :(
Kudos Veteran Posted July 23, 2008 Veteran Share Posted July 23, 2008 This sounds like a great idea to me, but only has a "get 'em while they're hot" offer, it could provide a decent injection of cash without endangering long-term support. DrewJW
Sounds like a good plan which would need little changes to me? but seriously whats wrong with just re-subscribing when it runs out?
Si_
A lot less than that, I would say ?30/$60 would be OK...

+Frank B. Subscriber² Posted July 23, 2008 Subscriber² Share Posted July 23, 2008 A Lifetime Subscription sounds like a good idea to support the site. Personally I'd price it at around 100 ? (= about US$160).

Si_
what? that's absolutely nothing... well think about it, it all depends how many years you reckon you'll be here/you think neowin will be around for. I would say 6 years worth of subscription is a decent amount up front......

tunafish
You could have a lifetime membership which would have some kind of good perks Maybe something like a few more irc permissions or something, but what you do then is charge a renew fee for these perks :)
Coldgunner
Unless I get access to the 'German Engineered Hand-Woven Bog Roll of the Gods!' then I'll probably be happy to pay <?40, I couldn't see why it should be much higher than the cost of a game. 4CxbqFxVnstmA Veteran Posted July 24, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted July 24, 2008 I'm gonna die in 2058 at the age of 74...hmm... Funny it says, when I put down that I live in America, that I will die: Saturday, 20th October 2063You will live to be 74 years, 7 months and 5 days old! If I put down I live in the UK, it says: Wednesday, 31st December 2064You will live to be 75 years, 9 months and 16 days old! Still the point of lifetime membership fees for organisations is that they take the one-time charge and invest it and use the interest. Sometimes it is about ten times the normal annual fee, sometimes less. It also depends on how likely possible payers of the lifetime fee are to think the organisation will actually be in existence through the course of their lifetimes. Because of this, and seeing other comments, it would seem anywhere from four to six years worth of regular annual fees could serve as an attractive amount for a lifetime membership, perhaps also with the 'available for a limited time only' or 'in limited numbers' to boost interest, as Kudos noted.
